Our buddy Pyro posted a picture he drew during school today and it inspired me to post a bunch of robots I've drawn over the years, including one drawn in class. Here they are:

Here are some explanations for a few of them:

- Biggest one on the right: I drew that one day in Grade 11 English class (a very productive use of my time, I'd say :p). I had seen a bunch of the old Robotech RPG books then and that robot is based on the style used by the artist.

- Top left corner: I drew this at the ripe old age of 12. I liked it enough to make a couple of copies of it, all of different sizes. I forget which one this is. It's pretty quaint to me now, but it really shows that I've always enjoyed drawing with lots of little details.

- The chicken head: That is also directly related to drawing in class. It wasn't done during class, but the six page comic book that the character stems from was drawn in Ancient Medieval History class.

- Head next to the chicken: That's an example of me doodling and hitting on a design I really like. I drew that same head countless times! Same goes for the little black and white head in front of the big one on the right.

- Middle robot at the top: That's an example of how I love to draw the torsos, but don't care about the legs. Part of the reason is because I'm no good at them. I never practice them and so have never cared/felt comfortable in drawing them. Oh well, as you can see, it's something I like to do, anyway. That and just the heads.

Wow, you certainly weren't lying about the complexity of your school doodles! (not that I thought you were anyway.:p ) They all look great. And very detailed.
Funny, the picture I posted I began drawing during 10th Grade English class which I have first every morning.

Wow, those are really interesting. Even more so as I've never been able to pull off a realistic design for robots myself, maybe I just haven't got the patience to make it look like all the pieces are connected and the thing actually does more than just sit there like a lump :D

Its hard to pick a favourite here as they all have so much going for them, the top left guy is particularly eye-grabbing and the detail on far right just blows me away. Chicken Head is out and out scary though ... darn I can't pick, they're all so cool.

First of all: WOW, you can really draw robots :D

Second of all: ... I cannot. I keep trying, and the only things I can sometimes get right are heads/helmets. which stinks, 'cause I love robots. I did recently draw a walking computer/bot thing though :) But I think I'll stick with "floor plans," still life, and landscapes :p *sigh*

Also of all: My favorites are the one on the right, and the partial one in the top center. All of the helmets are very cool

Over of all: awesome stuff!

The top center one is one of my favorites, too. It just turned out...cool, somehow. That's why I didn't want to mess it up by adding legs. :p

Thanks for the niceness, everyone! You'll probably dig my next post when I get around to it, too.

Hey Batmang, those are great! The detail you've put into those robots is really impressive. The robo-chicken, whom I will name Steelbeak, looks the coolest cuz it's the most different - as long as this isn't a copyright infringement. :D

Very good stuff, indeed!

Thanks, Tim! "Steelbeak" (I like that name. Maybe I'll use it in your honor someday ;)) is from the comic I mentioned in the explanation for that head. The main character is called Superchicken, but other than the initial comic, all my other drawings of him and associated characters have been pretty random. If I ever expand on the idea, "Steelbeak" will definitely be included in future stories. I really like the way he turned out, and he's far more mature looking than he was at first.

Well, Steelbeak is actually a Darkwing Duck villain, so I can't really be credited with that...as cool a name it is...

B'oh! Well, now I get your 'copyright infringement' comment, at least. ;)

Speaking of that, I found out a couple of years after I made my Superchicken character/comic that there was a cartoon from the 60's (which I have since seen and like) called Super Chicken. I found it in a big book in the school library one day. Well, at least I had no idea of its existence when I made mine. Plus, mine is one word, à la Superman, so that's fine. :p
