Here's a review from World's Finest moderator, Nightwing...

This is it boys and girls. Straight out, no beating around the bush, 2001, Bruce Timm, Batman, Superman, it's all here, and once you see the pilot for yourself you also see, it's all back!!! Justice League! Nightwing of the World's Finest here, and first off, let's see if you and I are on the same terms, as there are many different types of Batman/Superman fandom.

For lack of a better comic book shop, I have never gotten into comics until most recently. My fandom started only watching good animation and good stories. Among them, this now 20 year old World's Finest site vet from NY found the benchmark in all animation history, Batman: The Animated Series. And since then I've never looked back at another single show the same way. To understand this review fully, feel free to take the "P.O.V." of one who, although appreciates the comic world, accepts animated continuity above all else, and in Justice League, looking for the next installment in Bruce Timm and company's genius!

**This review is completely SPOILER FREE;
**Throughout the review, notice the "hardcore Batman/Superman animated fan comments in italics" indicating comments my animated POV had while watching the pilot for the first time.

Short Synopsis: Our story begins as Batman swings in to investigate a situation he has been keeping tabs on for quite a while, involving a Waynetech facility located in Metropolis.

If Batfans such as myself were overly excited by this showing of Batman's character's persistance, expect to see VERY much more of Batman's genuine character in scenes to come, up to the climax. Batman's chacter was carried true to form from BTAS and TNBSA, as you will soon appreciate.

What Batman eventually discovers is the threat of an alien invasion of creatures with unknown origins. And what the planet Mars has to do with this is another piece of the puzzle Batman will need explained. Along the line are the introductions of what will make up the Justice League of heroes, because of the vast size the invasion's threat on Earth becomes. Speaking of which, now is the time for what we animation fans have all been waiting for and wondering about.

Character Interaction: From viewing the pilot, I can see some mistakes were made, but the more general assumption about how the show itself will go is above excellent. The proper drive is there, but a few slight mistakes hit me a little weird as far as origins and dialect are concerned.

Batman: No objections. This is the one subject I studied most, as I'm sure you've learned to assume by now. And the only thing the hardcore Animated Batman fan will need to adjust to a bit is the slight alteration to Batman's character design. And with Kevin Conroy back in the mask, you can bet money you won't find any voice over problems.

Superman: The occasional yet temporary animation problems I found in the beginning scenes had Superman behind them. For example, the S on his chest in his press conference scene. Superman seems to have the overall unique vision of the team up, and therefore comes off as the leader type. I see some good partnerships between he and Martian Manhunter, since they share so much in common. Superman will add the corny edge about how important their cause, and team work are to the series. So that will work well.

-As far as his voice goes, I was anticipating it to sound too young, because of the frequent complaints I've heard since the Tim Daily complication happened in which he was unavailable to voice Superman, but then was, but by then we had another voice for him on the roster. And might I add, I don't see any problem with him. His first line sounded a bit youth driven, "They don't look so tough," so I can see where the complaints came from. But in hearing Clark's new voice, I think it was very righteous, and very corny, and although I would gladly take Tim Daily back as soon as heavenly possible, this new guy works for me.

Wonderwoman: Although I'm not a comic fan and only familiar with Wonderwoman's origin as given by the 70s Superfriends show, I think Wonderwoman lost points in each voice acting, origin catagories. Her character interaction with the other heroes was done well. She and Batman seem fascinated by each other, intellectualy speaking. Her lack of knowledge and experience could make for some well done stories involving her.

-Her voice acting could have been much better though. Drawing her power from the Gods, Wonderwoman exclaims "Hera! Give me strength!" And in doing so to summon strength to use her lasso in one scene there was just nothing behind it. "Hera. Give me strength...if you don't mind...uh...little help?" This was hinted at within practically all the lines she read. I hope this won't be a problem in future episodes and seasons.

-Her origin is what threw me for a loop most of all though. Maybe the fact that my research found all her origins are extremely complicated and strange in the comic world are the reason for the following, but this Wonderwoman's origin was very small. I couldn't think of a reason for this, but perhaps anything longer would add to much to the production time. In any case, I'd at least like to see more of it developed as episodes go on.

Martian Manhunter: My hat goes off to Bruce Timm on this character because, speaking as an animated-only fan, the introduction of Martian Manhunter will hook you and reel you in to liking him. He's a true, strong, and battle smart warrior, which will mix extremely well with characters such as Batman and Green Lantern, and a very funny match up with Flash.

-And to all of these perfect personality traits goes a brilliant voice to match. His voice has been heard by Batman/Superman fans before, and so if changed might just take away from the character.

The Flash: The comedy highlight of the entire series is easy to spot, just so long as he's standing still. The Flash is so on the mark with his sarcastic and playful attitude it will add much to his character interaction and overal appeal.

And both his humor and character interaction will blow you away, seeing things you wouldn't normally see unless you had this show. For example a small interaction between Batman and The Flash, which you'll have to wait and see.

-Flash's voice may or may not be the same as the one used in Superman's "SPEED DEMONS" but it did well on the aspects of the character just the same. No complaints!

Green Lantern: Much like Martian Manhunter's introduction to non-comic people, John Stewart blended well the other characters and will be a very significant member to the JL. He's serious and dedicated to his job, and moody against those who aren't. This will blend well, and has already begun to do so, with The Flash, since they are complete opposites.

-Not much to say on his voice, except that it's deep and very fitting to who this particular GL is supposed to be. As a fan not tied to the comics in any way, I hope to learn more about him as seasons and episodes go on.

Hawk Girl: Hawk Girl comes off as very hot headed, head strong, and a bit mysterious. Her attitude and view on life and combat are completely opposite to the entire motivation behind teamwork. So although I didn't see much significant interaction between her and the other members, aside from a little with Superman, she could make for some very good storylines as well.

Overall the seeds of nostalgia are surging through me as I see this premiere, fueling my anticipation for the show, but not fueling my opinion of it. The premiere was extremely well done, holding all the great elements that Batman/Superman had. So with that I'd say it's easy to see we're in for another great installment from Bruce Timm's animated DC heroes archive.
