Subject: Opinion survey: how has dvd changed anime fandom?
I'm working on an article for a film and television studies about the effect
of the dvd format on anime. While I've got a lot of opinions of my own, I
know that my fandom coincided with the dvd boom, and I think I need some
viewpoints from people who've been fans longer than I have. I've been going
back and looking at google's archives for attitudes when anime dvds were
first being released, but I'd also like to know what people think about the
issues.
I know I want to write about the multiple language tracks, but I also plan
to talk about edited/unedited releases, a bit about fan subs and licenses, a
bit about region coding, and so on.
So here's the question for your discussion:
What has been the impact of the dvd format on anime fandom around the world?
laurie
Ya guys can just email her your responses. VHS, LD, and DVD discussions are fine.
