well, like probably everyone else on here i just got done with the premiere of 'the batman' -which left me with just an ummm okay, lets see the next ep. i guess:sad: taste in my mouth...but anyway, they already dropped the metropolis refrence, so i wonder how long before we get a superman appearance?? what with smallville n all i doubt wb will let it happen but just maybe....and even though some might think it's jumping the gun since it's year three, i guess you could also say bane, catwoman, penguin, joker, riddler, firefly and mr. freeze is jumping the gun a little too i suppose;) and i also realize that this would simply crush the shows purpose of spotlighting batman's adventures and finding his own feet as the new hero in town..another roadblock. but def. an interesting thought for the future of the series. plus i'd love to see matsuda's design for the man of steel. i'm thiking incredible hulk in spandex and cape with the trademark spiky, long dragon ball z esque hair he seems to favor, lol...thoughts?

Don't worry. As soon as the next Superman movie is set to come out, it'll have it's little toy-selling cousin right next too it ;)
Or maybe not. I don't know, I'm kind of hoping somebody else picks up a Superman toon, especially if "The Batman" is still running. I don't want WB to try and follow in B:TAS, S:TAS' footsteps.

Well knowing The Batman will keep that one staff busy for a while, they'd have to find YET ANOTHER crew for a new Superman series. Though.. if JLU ends by that point... I'm not saying they HAVE to get Timm but.. there are plenty of staffers from said show that would translate very well, such as Robert Goodman... and since Static Shock's no more, why not have Alan Burnett supervise? I just wish they could get Curt Geda back, but I guess he's tied up with the Marvel DTVs..

I think the style and intent behind "The Batman" would be better suited for a more light and positive concept as "The Superman". I wish this approach had been take with Supes rather than Bats. I think that would have delivered a far more successful show.

I am sure The Superman has been thought about, so if The Batman is succesful and they eventually get round to doing the new Superman movie, I think there is a pretty good chance it could happen, or at the very least a Superman appearance on The Batman.

Well, the Asian detective did come from Metropolis, so...
I just wish they could get Curt Geda back, but I guess he's tied up with the Marvel DTVs..
geez, matt, what IS this major curt geda jones you've got? :) ....this is like the fifth or sixth time i've heard you pining for his return to wba....
don't get me wrong, i think he's an excellent director, too (not to mention a top-notch board guy), but you can REALLY tell his directorial style from the other guys' to that degree? if you could elaborate specifically what sets his work apart from that of butch or dan or joaquim, i'd really be interested to hear....

I say his name because it's one that I can remember. It's hard remembering all of these staffers names, I can remember Dan Riba and Butch Lucik but the others are distant in my head... also I just happen to think X-Men Evolution was extremely well-directed. And Riba and Geda were major power players on the original Superman: TAS, which is still my favorite DCAU series.

ah.
Eh, then that'd ruin the coolness of Smallville =/.

If they ended up doing another Superman series I would hope they also get Jeph Loeb involved in a major way. He's a consultant on Smallville and probably makes sure they get the characterization down and keeps them honest everytime it strays into "hipper than thou teeny bopper WB land". Loeb is the perfect conduit for Superman comic to cartoon translation.
Plus I felt the first series didn't quite touch on everything they could in the Superman mythos and needed many more eps.

As if a drunken Bibbo turned to the left a little slower or squinted a little less Matt would scream at the TV, "HEY that's not Curt Geda's direction, I KNOW IT'S NOT, what a jip!"
It's SOOOO much subtlety and nuance that I don't think Geda himself would notice. I'd be really interested to hear this too Matt. It sounds like a potential future super power for a hero, the ability to tell super hero animators direction styles apart and only Matt Wilson can solve this dliemma or the very future of animation as we know it is threatened.
A lil true story, back in the late 90's my cousin and I used to be obsessed with Melrose Place strictly for goofing on purposes and we had this tradition of after the show ended and it showed the director, producer etc in the credits. We would call each other and in our best sardonic tones all victorious exclaim to the other guy "Frank South you've done it again!" . As if it mattered to the quality of the episode in something like Melrose Place who the producers or directors actually were or moreoever we could tell what they did or what the nuance was.
P.S. I tell you right now, I'm proclaiming if they do attempt another Superman series and if the Ink-Paint Supervision isn't done by Geno DuBois, and Eric Nordberg isn't the Mark-up Painter, or MacGregor Middleton isn't the Assistant Production Manager, or lastly and most important if Kathleen Keegan isn't the Production Coordinator Assistant I absolutely will not watch this series!

def. a good point...especially with the new detective characters..they would've been better suited for a superman series...the changeover i think, wouldv'e gone over alot smoother...it seems most fans are a little more attached to gordon and bullock than they are to maggie sawyer and dan turpin.
