I heard the theme song on Cartoonnetwork's website. I'm not entirely happy with the music. It sounds epic with tympany and all the snare drums and such, but the music seems rushed. Like it had potential to be really good but they have taken a slower tempo. Maybe its just me. It just wasn't enough for me. What do you guys think? go to the JL site at cartoonnetwork and then let me know your guys opinions.

I think that it's just one of many. It sounds different from the ones on the commercials. Besides, there's probably several variations of the theme (like with Batman).

Yeah it doesn't sound too exciting. Nothing special, just the basic epic type of song... I'm a bit disappointed as well.

Well, I know that the music used for the animation shown at the San Diego and Chicago comic-cons (and the first animated CN commercial) was not original music. It's music I've heard before during lot's ESPN-type stuff. Things like "a look back at the career of Mickey Mantle." The main theme music on the website sounded like a variation of the music used for the second commercial (the one w/the different color streaks of light.)

I'm assuming that you're refering to the little snippet of music that plays when the site loads... well, that pretty much is the theme music. Yes, it is slower and takes a bit of getting used to, but I really like it. Maxie described it as a gradual gathering of power, and I'd say that's pretty apt.

I'm not talking about the music snippet that plays when the site loads. I'm talking about the Theme song which is on the same page as some new Justice League clips in the Watch It! Section of the JL webpage. Listen to that song.

for some reason i cant get it. please tell me its not the song from the commercial and the intro, cause that theme is mad corney. its way to tame sounding, i want something more dramatic like the btas, bb, even stas openings.

Yeah it is. I agree too tame sounding

Yup, that's the theme. I like it... it's got just the right amount of gravity mixed with bombast. Too tame? Naaaahhh.... I just cranked up the volume on my computer, and it sounded great.

I kinda like the theme. Heroic. Just like the Hatter, I cranked the volume and enjoyed it. But I am hardly a judge. Music is the side of TV that I am the least picky about. Very rarely will I complain about music. So why am I posting? I'm bored, get over it :p :p :p :p :p :p

I think what I miss the orchestral sound of Batman and Superman the new music definitely is using quite a bit of digital sound.

What the hell are you guys talking about??!!
No offense but I *love* the theme. It actually reminds me very much (and this might be intentional) of the theme Ecstacy of Gold from the film the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
Some have you like me may have first heard this as the opening track that Metallica walks out to the Michael Kamen orchastra playing on the S&M album.
Its like that with just a touch of John Williams. Great theme and for my money beats the ever lovin hell out of the drunken sounding Batman/Superman adventures theme.

its not "hard" enough for me. its way to corny and heroic and cheesy, imo. i cant figure out the right words to explain it, but its just not thrilling or edgy enough, its sounds too much like a cheesy theme. but i finally heard its full version on the jl site, and its not quite as bad as i anticipated from the commercials, but its still corny. anyone know who compossed it, shirley walker?? thanks. peace.

Yeah, its alright, but it just doesn't live up to the Batman and Superman themes.

Well, I'm not sure what they're playing over there, but the temp theme that played over the screener copy I saw was fantastic. I liked it better than either the BTAS, STAS, TNBSA or BB themes.

I wonder if we will hear the theme music for Batman and Superman from their own shows, when they are featured on camera in episodes of JL?
For the most part, every hero and villian in all of the Animated Series have had their own theme music. In the past, when characters have crossed over to other shows, like Superman in BB, Robin in ROTJ and Batman in STAS, their theme has crossed over w/them.
I can't recall any memorable music used for the Flash during his guest appearance on STAS, but Green Lantern/Kyle Rayner definitely did. Will there be any "musical crossovers"?
By the way, I haven't watched "The Call" in a while so I'm not sure...was the JLU theme anything like the theme for JL? Does anyone remember?

"its not "hard" enough for me. its way to corny and heroic and cheesy, imo. "
Uhh, yeah..you know this show *is* about heroes right? and what is wrong with music being heroic?
No offense but I really dont wanna live in a world where the JL comes out to some rapcore trash. and the JL don't need to be flying around to the techno beats of Batman Beyond. Those are good in *that* show but would be horrible in this one.
Its heroic and iconic music for heroic and iconic characters.

um, well you have a right to your opinion. and i agree, it is heroic and iconic music, that isnt well written, imo. it sets out to be all heroic and kind of classical, but it just isnt a good theme. its trying to be something its not. inorder to be heroic and iconic, it must sound original and must be written well, not just through in cliche' clashing symbols and stuff and call itself heroic and iconic. thats what i think its doing, attempting to like this big symphony, but its just cliche and lame. not only is it cliche, but its bland. Not worthy of the justice league, imo.
the new batman/superman adventures is a good example of music that achieves the heroic and iconic sound in a good way. its simple, has a nice melody, nothing too fancy or trying to be something its not. btas theme was just great, both the theme that originated in the movie (btas opening) and the adven of batman and robin theme, the same one that was in the opening of motp, sound so original, like nothing we've ever really heard, well composed, worthy of the big orchastric perfomance and stuff. stas theme follows the same lines as tnb/sa theme, well written, heroic, but simple and nothing too corney. jl theme is a huge dissapointment for me, but i know the show will kick, so its not really a big deal. i just hate the corney aspect of the theme.
okay, my rant has ended. peace.

See thats strange. To me, the Batman/Superman adventures theme literally sounded drunk. Like this kind of slow, schtsic thing that sucked the life out of both Supermans TAS theme *and* Batmans.
I think its well done, the only thing I would change is that I would make it sound *bigger*.
That was my only complaint with the Superman TAS theme was that it was really, really **good** but it sounded a little like only half the orchastra showed up that day. It basically just needs *more* of what it already has going for it.
Of course, that could have to do with budget problems.

Who's doing the music?? Is it Shirley Walker or Chris Karter??

If I remember right, the theme was written by Lolita... er... I can't remember her last name. But she was one of the people who did music for Batman Beyond.

I am listening to the theme for JL right now, and I am very glad to say that I like it. I heard it online a few days ago, and it litterally gave me chills. The buildup is fantastic!
Nothing will sound as classic as the Batman theme, be it from the Batman 1989 film (by Danny Elfman) or the reinterpretation by Shirley Walker for B: TAS. That music still gives me chills.
As for S:TAS, I have never seen the show's original introduction, so the only time I heard that particular "Superman" theme was at the end of "Last Son of Krypton", which I bought years ago. I wasn't very impressed with the theme they used there. It was rather forgettable after having spent several years listening to the amazing Lois and Clark theme! As for The New Batman/Superman Adventures theme, I enjoyed it, though I have always thought it might work better for a Justice League show. Now I realize that it tried to blend the anthem aspect of Superman with the dark melodies of Batman, which makes it rather innappropriate for a Justice League show.
Before hearing this theme, I wondered what kind of riff it would be. If I would hate it, or if it would get stuck in my head for weeks on end. Well, aside from the chills, I thought the riff/chorus/theme was good, but it was the overall bulidup that really helped it shine. It isn't the Batman theme or Lois and Clark. It's something different, which is what I feel this show will be. I too get the impression that the show still needs to find it's footing, with the voice actors and the animation as well as the music. I am certain, though, that in time, this theme will bring back many memories for all who watch Justice League...and that the chills will return:)!!!

I sure hope so. I hated how they tinkered with all the villains' themes on TNBA and I'd hate for them to veer away from Batman and Superman's personal themes on JL.
