For those of you that have the "new" Pokemon games, or for those of you planning to pick them up eventually, which Pokemon did you/will you choose as your starter?

I'm sort of a Water Trainer, myself.

Bulbasaur, cuz I love Ivysaur, nuff said.

I think this game, I'll hold off on it evovling to Venusaur (do I have to do that every time it levels up?)

I'm gonna get it on Friday and I'll probably pick Charmander. For some reason I've always picked the fire-type starter in all three games.

I usually choose grass types for starter Pokemon, but since I chose Charmander for a change of pace and because I'll probably transfer my Ceptile to my new game.

I'm going to try and relive my blue version. So I picked green and went with a Squirtle.

Man, I'm loving this game. Its actually a challenge, AND THE GAME'S JUST STARTED! Man, I know I'm going to love to hate the l33t fore. I can't wait. And I can't wait to beat the game so I can fight my Ruby team.

I chose Bulbasaur 'cause he can handle the first two gyms. When my pokemon get storng enough, I'll see how well they do in Pokemon Colloseum.

Whenever I get it, i'm going to choose Charmander. Even Takeshi, while using Rock types, I defeated his Geodude, and almost Onix, with just Charmander. Although, I think I did make use of the Nidorans beforehand.

Well, how much higher is the AI in the re-makes then the original versions?

Yeah, Gym Leaders and your rival. You could always get a Mankey now, like in yellow, to make Brock easier.

Butterfree with Confusion is also very good, if you want to put the work into it. Defeats him FAST. So besides Bulbasaur and Squirtle, Butterfree and mankey would be the best choices. I might go for Mankey though instead, since the Mankey line is one of my fave Fighting types lines.

Choose Bulbasaur because he was the only starter that I haven't tried out yet.

I love Charmander:sweat: so I almost always start out with it and I always make sure its a female. Even in the original red version I started out with Charmander, and I've always found ways to get around the first to gyms.:p

What a revival!
eh what the hell I'll vote too considering I'll end up getting this game soon.
Lol Charmander I guess

Wow, talk about a revival.

Anyway, it has to be Bulbasaur. Only because I always felt that he was the best grass type in the end-game. Fire had Moltress, water had Lapras/Gyardos, but grass had few stong pokemon with Venusaur being (arguably) the best.

I was curious as to why people were acting like Fire Red/ Leaf Green weren't released yet until I saw the date. :p

Squirtle all the way. While he's probably my least favorite starter, he makes the beginning of the game so much easier.

I do agree that a Bulbasaur is a great starter, and is awsome when its a Venasaur, but I still love my Charmander. The only starter I havent tried is Squirtle. I'll try him out on my next game.

Charmander. There aren't enough fire Pokemon in the game, so why not start out with one of the best?

Chad Bonin

Start with Charmander, way back in Red and once again in FireRed.

And the fact that I have two Charizards has definitely helped out my "almost beating" of Gary this time around.

I always start off with Zenigame, because he's always been my favorite.

The Charmander line is a sold group of pokemon that works well throughout the game.

Squirtle.
Heh, Squirtle.

I had no idea soo many people liked Charmander. I'm not alone! :crying:  It is the best fire type pokemon in the game, I agree. It has great speed, Spl. Attk, and Def. stats for a fire type. Plus, Charmander is really cute. I think the second best is a Arcanine for fire. Or Ninetails, but you cant get a Vulpix in FireRed unless you trade it.

Blaziken from Sapphire, Ruby, and Emerald is a very solid fire type, too, so Charizard isn't the only fantastic fire Pokemon that evolves from a starter. However, he can fly, and that makes him far superior.

Charizard can kick Blaziken by type advantage:p , but Blaziken is the other great fire pokemon :D since it can beat rock types. Torkoal is good too.

Bulbasaur

Everyone knows Charmander is the best starter Pokemon ever.

I chose Bulbasaur. I don't know, I've always been somewhat of a fan of it since I saw the first episode of Pokemon that it appeared on. Then again, it was also the very first episode of Pokemon I saw. ;)

I chose Squirtle.
Torkoal was hard to beat!

I chose charmander, since I've always chosen bulbasaur or squirtle as my first (so the first two gyms go easier) I decided to start with the fire type for once.

Charizard is one of the only fire type pokemon thats immune to ground type attacks. That also makes it great.

I got Charmander back when I was a wee lad, playing the original games for the first time. Since I wanted to try something new, I got LeafGreen
first and picked Bulbasaur. I still got Charmander in FireRed,though.

Coincidentally, my LeafGreen team resembles that of Red of Pokemon Special.

I love them all equally, Charizard rocks all the fire pokemon, Venusaur is one of the best grass pokemon except for being poison typed, making him a bit weaker, and squirtle's final evolution Blastoise is my favorite pokemon ever, plus he's one of the better water pokemon, but I had to choose Squirtle.

Bulbasaur is the ONLY one of the starters whose new final attack isn't completly useless, so I chose him.

What do you mean by the last move it learns being totally useless?
