I remember that cartoon that ran on NBC on sept 12th 1981 atfer just one season on NBC so how does anyone remember Space Stars when they have Space Ghost, The Herculoids, Teen Force, Astro and the Space Mutts and The Space Stars Finale when Space Ghost, The Herculoids, Teen Force and Astro and the Space Mutts teamed up together when they try to beat up the bad guys in the cartoon and I would like to get Space Stars:The Complete Series to be release on DVD as part of The Hanna-Barbera Golden Collection and does anyone have the Space Stars Theme because I didn't had a chance to listen to it but ask Toon Tracker to add the Space Stars Theme to the Toon Tracker Wave Themes Page so you can email to Toon Tracker because they don't care about the Space Stars Theme!

I was always ticked that they didn't have The Galaxy Trio as a part of the Space Stars. They are the coolest HB heroes, and they have been untapped since they were created in 1967. C'mon WB!......... make an all new high quality serious animated series of the Galaxy Trio!!!

My whole theory regarding the absense of the Galaxy Trio is that they died and Teen Force were their protegees who took over their mission.

The Galaxy Trio would have been rolling over in their graves if they saw the Teen Force in action.

SPACE STARS probably only featured new episodes of SPACE GHOST and HERCULOIDS because those series' original episodes were very well-received when NBC reran them on its Saturday AM schedule circa 1976-78 as midseason replacements for numerous failed shows.
The Galaxy Trio was much less known, and had only been revived in fall 1978 as part of a syndicated package- THE FANTASTIC WORLD OF HANNA-BARBERA- of all those H-B action-adventure shows that dominated Saturday AM 1966-69: THE IMPOSSIBLES (whose backup segment, FRANKENSTEIN JUNIOR, was rerun by NBC in 1976-77 along with SPACE GHOST), MOBY DICK AND THE MIGHTY MIGHTOR, SHAZAN!, DINO BOY (SPACE GHOST'S original backup segment), FANTASTIC 4, and the Trio's parent segment BIRDMAN. Until this compilation, none of these shows had been rerun once their Saturday AM runs ended- only the three properties NBC grabbed.
SPACE STARS was supposed to have premiered in fall 1980- there's a brief mention of it in TV GUIDE's Fall Preview that year. But an actor's strike postponed it until the following year. (Why? Many other cartoons premiered in fall 1980, albeit delayed until October or November by said strike.)
The Astro & Space Mutts segment had to be the most ridiculous character revival ever attempted by H-B- and that's saying something! It being totally comedic made it incompatible with the show's other elements. And making the title character suddenly be fully articulate- albeit with Don Messick using a similar vocal intonation- was downright blasphemous to JETSONA fans. I can accept Wile E Coyote acquiring the power of speech for his 'super genius' persona- but not this!
SPACE STARS was one of many NBC Saturday AM series at the time that aired four 13-episode cycles over the course of a season and disappeared thereafter until the advent of basic cable reruns.

The Galaxy Trio would have been rolling over in their graves if they saw the Teen Force in action.I don't know. I loved telepath-telekinetic Electra, Kit Comet, and Molecular Lad (or whatever his name is), and the evil tyrant Uglor. I loved their space cycles.
It's sad that CN or Boomerang never shows any Teen Force episodes. The only episodes the channels air with Teen Force are the guest appearances in the Space Ghost and Herculoid cartoons, and those usually amount to having one of the characters (Elektra or Kit). I would like to see the ep where Uglor turns Space Ghost and company into werewolves and the Teen Force come to the rescue.
I remember the Teen Force mainly from the USA Cartoon Express reruns, although I do have a 1981 taped episode of the 1st half of an hour-long Space Stars episode on NBC (the 2nd half was supplanted by a channel switch to Blakstar on CBS), which features the full opening including Space Ghost, Herculoids, Teen Force, and Astro and the Space Mutts (the USA showings cut out Herculoids and Astro).

I just can't believe that more people out there don't want to see the Galaxy Trio in an all new serious animated series in the Bruce Timm Justice League style, or as a high quality CGI series. I also can't believe that "Mr. Intensity" thinks that the goofy "Teen Force" could ever replace The Galaxy Trio?! I agree with "Desslar", I'm afraid that Meteor Man, Gravity Girl, and Vapor Man would have to mop the floor with the little punks........ I just feel that these three superheroes (Galaxy Trio) were the best Hanna Barbera heroes for serious sci-fi action. Their appearance is very cool, and that's to say nothing of their powers, which are AWESOME! Their power potential is just staggering if someone would care to take the time to do a little homework, they would find that these guys could hold their own against alot of the powerhouses of the DC or the Marvel universes. For example. Meteor Man is kind of like a Hulk sized Superman with really cool and unique growth powers which increase his already vast superhuman strength. He's got superhuman strength, invulnerability, he can fly, and he has the aforementioned growth powers. in short, he's HB's strongest superhero. Gravity Girl has the potential to be like a Magneto, or a Storm from the X-Men. With her control of the gravitational force, she could be an amazing powerhouse. And, last but certainly not least, Vapor Man can create an almost endless array of offensive weapons, and has almost as many defensive abilities as well. Yeah, I know that they aren't as well known as Space Ghost, or even Birdman, but I think they are cooler than both of them. The only other HB heroes who even come close are the Herculoids in terms of coolness factor. Don't get me wrong, I love all of the HB heroes. To me Space Ghost is kind of like HB's Green Lantern. Herculoids are kind of in a strange way like the Metal Men, but they are unique in their own right. Galaxy Trio was loosly based on Marvels Fantastic Four, but they are totally unique, and the very fact that they have been forgotten by so many people would be like they were brand new if they would just be re-introduced by the right creative team and allowed to reach their potential, character wise, and power wise. I want to see them handled sooo bad in a serious way. Yes, I do love the original shows, but I'd love to see them use their powers without having them explain every move they were going to do before they did it...........

Blackstar!!!! All right, now we're talking. Cool show. Except for those damn smurf wannabe trobbits.Except that Smurfs and Blackstar, I believe, premiered at the same season (both are on that 1981 tape, along with Trollkins, The Kids Super-Power Hour with Shazam, The Zorro-Lone Ranger-Tarzan Adventure Hour, as well as a CBS broadcast of the Charles-Diana Royal Wedding, and an SFL Holiday Network showing of the anime Jack and the Beanstalk).

The only time I got to see Space Stars was through the segments played on CN/Boomerang (Space Ghost, Herculoids, and Astro and the Space Mutts). It's sad that Boomerang won't show the remaining segments (Teen Force and Space Stars Finale, which aired on USA). If anyone recalls the opening title, can you give the lyrics/narration for it or a vivid description? I'm curious as to know how it sounded/looked (I'm talking about the NBC version that aired in 1981-82, not the USA Cartoon Express version, just so you know).

At that point I'll be home and able to look into my old 1981 tape for the full version.

Here it is:
-The Space Stars Title climbs up the screen Star Wars-style, followed by neon-drawings of the cast of Space Ghost, the Herculoids, Teen Force, Space Ace (minus Astro and the mutts, though) and the villain Uglor.
"Space Stars..."
"A Galaxy of Heroes teamed together in an interstellar battle against evil..."
-Full-colored drawings of the cast come up.
-Cut to the rocket rear-end of the remodeled Phantom Cruiser
-Cut to Space Ghost flying downward in inviso-form, switching to visible).
"Blast off in adventures as big as the cosmos itself!
-Cut to farshot of Space Ghost blasting away asteroids followed by Jan, Jayce, and Blip the monkey.
"Race! Poised on the edge of time with Space Ghost and his young friends!"
-Cut to Astro being buddy with a wary Space Ace, followed by a full shot of the two and the space mutts on their ship.
"Streak through the universe with Space Ace, Astro, and the Space Mutts as they spring into action!"
-Astro accidentally springs Space Ace via an ejector seat.
-Cut to far-shot of the Phantom Cruiser chasing Toymaster's ship on a computer-stylized mist background.
-Cut to Uglor, a winged ape with bug eyes.
"And somewhere deep in space, super danger threatens the Teen Force!"
-Cut to the Teen Force. Elektra glows, Kid Comet transforms into his namesake, Moleculad disperses into atoms.
-Cut to the three zooming around a giant robot with laser eyes.
-Cut to a close-up of a smiling Uglor projecting his own Eye blasts.
-Cut to Zandor aiming his slingshot.
-Cut to Zandor's explosive ammunition destroying a robot.
"And join the famed Herculoids in their new battles to preserve peace on the planet Quasar!"
-Cut to Zandor, his wife and son looking back, departing aboard Zok the dragon.
"Now get set for sixty laser-blasting minutes of action, adventure, fun...on Space Stars!"
-The Titles appear as the screen is bathed by close-ups of most of the characters.
