Toon Zone News received the following from 'Sherri M.' who attended the twentyninth annual ASIFA-Hollywood Annie Awards :
'"Batman Beyond" was nominated in nine catagories, including writing for a feature ("Return of the Joker") writing for an animated series ("Out of the Past"), series directing (Butch Lukic - "The Call" Part One), directing in an animated feature (Curt Geda - "Return Of The Joker"), voice acting feature male (Mark Hamill, "Return Of The Joker"), voice acting series male (Kevin Conroy, "Batman Beyond"), voice acting series female (Olivia Hussey - Talia - "Batman Beyond"), daytime animated television production and direct to video ("Return Of The Joker").
"Batman Beyond" won for Butch Lukic, series directing, and for best daytime animated TV production and best direct to video. Lukic was a no-show, and the best series and video awards were collected by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini. When accepting for best video, Timm drew applause by showing a metal washer his daughter had given him for good luck. Dini called writing "Return of the Joker" the second-best experience he ever had in animation, the first being the thrill of watching Timm, co-producer Glen Murakami and their art team create the visuals for the feature. All in all, not a bad showing at all for the "Batman Beyond" crew.
In other Annie news, pretty much everything else was won by SHREK."
Thanks again to Sherri for providing Toon Zone with this information.
