Here we go again. The Labor Day holiday weekend has arrived, and with it comes another Winx Club talkback.

We've got a fun one this go-around. As the title suggests, Magix is having its annual "Miss Magix" beauty pageant. Naturally, Stella (never one to shy away from showing her beauty) makes her presence known. Unfortunately, the Senior Witches (fresh off their one episode siesta) are back in town, and this week, their plot doesn't involve trying to off the Winx girls, steal magical power sources, or taking over their universe.

No, they're here to make a mockery out of the contest, by eliminating all the other girls one by one with their dark magic. Will Stella take the title? Will she even survive? What wackiness will our favorite evil threesome concoct? There's only one way to find out, and that's by tuning in to the Fox Box this weekend!

Remember the rules. Also remember that this is the next-to-last double run episode. (As per the Fox Box Schedule thread.) I'll see ya when I see ya.

Not to put a downer on this one, but It's not going to ever be as fun as the Nadesico "Beauty contest" now is it?

1. When the focus isn't on the solaria dragon or the winx girls, the ep seems to flow more smoothly. They should do this more often.

2. At least the animation seems to be better in this ep. The charas mostly stayed on-model too, maybe helped by the fact that there weren't much fast action scenes.

Not to put a downer on this one, but It's not going to ever be as fun as the Nadesico "Beauty contest" now is it?
At least there wasn't a Disney musical sequence neither. :p
Then again, no bathing suits neither... then again, no dirty-pedo-feeling neither....

I enjoyed this ep. It was simple, good fun. Tied up the loose ends with the Magical Reality Chamber test and gave Stella a chance to shine. Bloom picks herself up a bit from last week's fall in my rankings and pushes ahead of Musa to claim fourth place again. I don't mind her nagging when she's nagging about something I agree with.

It was great to see the witches working on a minor bit of naughtiness instead of a major attack. And it's always nice to see our little red-haired witch. Lucy's finally been named, so when are we going to hear the redhead's name? I'm curious to see if they're keeping the Italian name.

Nothing really annoyed me, but at the same time there wasn't a moment I was in love with either. I did enjoy the scenes of the witches laughing (especially Darcy kicking her feet in the air) and their faces when Stella was dancing.

"Lucy, I'm Homely" would've made for a cute pun for the title of today's episode, but then, Winx Club doesn't go that route. I quite enjoyed this one. I'm giving it a 3.6 on the old scale. Not surprisingly, in last week's Crystal Ball Video, I never did catch on that one of the contestants was a witch.

Just as I figured: our Trio was spoiling the Miss Magix contest just for laughs. And because of a deal with Lucy. Then again, that deal was just for laughs, too, mostly at Lucy's expense come the next day, when she'd be doing all their homework ;). Either way, it's nice that the witches can take time off just to have some good-old fashioned fun. In their own way, of course.

Ah oh, how very apparent it is that Lucy's desperately wanting to fit in, wanting to be popular, and wanting our Trio to like her. And how very apparent it is that our Trio will never like her. "Lucy the loser." "Miss Homely." "Miss Outcastus."

Apparently, our Trio is just as aware of Lucy's homeliness as I am, and admittedly, they do make her look cute--especially her little smile at the end of her ballet routine.

And speaking of that ballet routine, she's obviously got some talent of her own--at least I don't think the witches magically gave her the routine, only only the disguise. Anyway, she was good! And Stella's cowgirl routine was a bit less impressive.

Evil, not evil, or just plain confused--my vote goes for "just plain confused"--I like Lucy, ugly or not. She seemed so happy for a moment, winning the contest, only to become embarrassed after Bloom took away the disguise. Kinda' "awww, poor confused girl," really.

The red-headed witch is still as sweet and endearing as ever. She reminds me somewhat of Flora, or a witch version of Flora, or something.

And... am I forgetting something... oh yes, of course! The Winx girls! All this talk about the witches, and I almost forgot about them :p!

How did two people actually fail the Magical Reality Chamber exam? Stella pretty much screwed up completely, it seemed, and she still somehow passed. Methinks her parents may have paid for that Magical Reality Chamber ;)?

Tecna had a great line about a contest based on beauty being highly illogical. So true, Tecna, so true....

Flora got a little PC with her talk about not believing in "dead planets," but I guess that's in her nature--the puns are on fire today :D! Either way, she was so soft-spoken about it, not trying to press it much, or throw a hissy fit... she's just sweet.

Darcy doesn't seem too mad about missing the Demonology Convention. Guess she enjoyed the contest. Sometime during all the chaos, Darcy has another of her absolutely cutest smiles while she's laughing, one that, again, makes her look un-evil.

Miss Narcissia? From a realm believed to be in the center of the universe? I love it :anime:!

In "Magical Reality Chamber," the "waiting room" for the exam looked a whole lot smaller. Maybe Stella's parents bought a new add-on for the school :p. And apparently, Palladium dropped his alphabetical order system, since he wanted Stella to go before Flora.

Bloom's little "coughing for attention" was completely lost on Flora, which makes sense: it's a bizarre ritual we have here, so it makes perfect sense for Stella not to understand the "coughing undertones." Tecna should've said something: I'm sure she could've had a perfect line here :).

Having never seen Nadesico, I can't really compare and contrast.

As for Winx Club, this ep gets a 3.5 from me.

-The reality chamber from 2 weeks ago reappears. We got Flora's and Stella's tests, which leads me to believe we'll get to see Tecna and Musa get the midterm treatment down the line.

-Of course, the main highlight was the beauty contest. The Witches were in top form today, eliminating all but one of the pre-Stella candidates. And, come on... did you REALLY expect anyone OTHER than Stella was gonna win? If so, than you obviously haven't watched shows of this genre.

-As Darcy mentioned, Lucy finally gets mentioned today. Still no word on the red-head though.

-I did have to deduct .5 from my score, on account of I was kinda hoping the Winx girls were gonna encounter the Trio and engage in a climactic battle, but no go.

Next week: Bloom's parents are back! And, it appears as though Bloom's secret past will get more mention next week as well. Should be an interesting episode.

Not too bad ep this week. In this one, Stella enters a beauty contest. Uh, I think she could've prepared for it with her own time rather than skipping class. Well anyway, I'm glad she DID win regardless of those nasty witches almost ruining it. Loved her Texas outfit, and enjoyed her dancing! Shania Twain couldn't have done better!;)

Also, good thing Bloom was there to reveal Lucy for who she was, disguised as a fairy I mean. Somebody had to, IMO.

Finally, I'm also glad Stella passed her midterm exam even though she had a rough time remembering her magic.:) I'm also happy my fave, Flora, passed too.

Not bad ep, I give it 3 stars.:)

This episode was good. Stella dropping everything to enter a beauty contest, classic. Very nice western dance, too. When Bloom was in the nurse's office, she calls Stella a freshman. Since Stella was at Alfea the previous year, I guess that this confirms that Stella failed freshman year the first time. I know that it was mentioned before that Stella was there last year, but I think that this is the first time that they actually mention her classification. Did anyone catch Flexia the juggler's outfit. In last week's preview she had on a red jacket with tails and white bottoms. This week, the jacket was instead a red dress. Was this redrawn for American TV? It looks like they just added red to fill the jacket into a dress.

-The reality chamber from 2 weeks ago reappears. We got Flora's and Stella's tests, which leads me to believe we'll get to see Tecna and Musa get the midterm treatment down the line.
I don't think they will. Tecna is sure to past the test so not much drama there, and Musa also seems like a person who takes her studies pretty seriously so I don't they are going to be covered.

Shania Twain couldn't have done better!;) That's because she's too "pop" now.

It should be pretty obvious to the judges that the beauty contestants were obviously being magicked on. You would think they could find out who did it. And besides, they clearly stated that no magic could be used for the beauty contest so wouldn't they have nullify a magic room to make sure no one uses magic at that time.

Ba, wont air till Tomorrow Morning. Only 10 hours and 45 minutes away from WinxClub time. With Hurricane Francis looming by, I'm not sure if power will hold out long enough for me to tape the show. Here's hoping that power/cable will hold out for almost 11 hours.

If no one hears from me within a couple days, either I'm dead due to the Hurricane, Power went out, or something went horribly horribly wrong and the EVIL SPACE MONKEYS FROM OUTTER SPACE HAVE COME TO INVADE US AND SUCK OUT OUR BRAINS AND TAKE OVER THE AREA!!! RUN! YOU MIGHT BE NEXT!

YES! I have survived! And so did the power.. (Till Sun. night) ..meaning i was able to watch WinxClub. And just as I thought when i saw the CB Video for this episode, I didnt find this a very good episode. Beauty pageants are boring for me, I like the Adventures/Fights that the girls go throught (And still want to see what the deal is with Bloom, which is why I cant wait till next week's ep., Im pretty much counting the minutes..). I just hope Hurricane Ivan takes a detour and goes AWAY from me.. 3 Hurricanes in a row is enough for me, i rather not put up with number 4. I dont want to miss this episode.

Sorry to hear about the goings-on in Florida, Bojingo. That state's just having an unlucky streak this summer, huh?

Oh, right, the episode review? Well, considering the fact that I was expecting the worst being a beauty pageant episode AND an episode starring Stella, "Miss Magix" actually turned out decent. Another score of 3 (that's how many weeks in a row, now?).

The notes:
* So now it's confirmed that Stella's a freshman for a second straight year. Guess that reinforces the general stereotype that you can't have both beauty and brains. *prepares to be pelted with numerous objects by the gals here* And to think, without Bloom and the others, Stella would've failed out again. That's unlike a princess... not being able to stay in school.
+ Wow, the Witches sure have a fun way of getting their kicks. And why not? When you're the bad guys, you live to see the goodie-goodies squirm.
- How is western-style dancing a talent? Stella's lucky the witches screwed over everyone else successfully, 'cause if I was a judge and had everything gone as planned, Stella would've come in way short of matching her 'first runner-up' position from the previous pageant.
* And on that note... she was allowed to compete again? Usually if you make it to the finals of a beauty pageant, you're not given a second chance.

(QOTW) "An arena packed with beauty queens. I'm kinda scared to go in there." - Flora, sounding cutely insecure as the girls arrived at the arena.
Honorable mentions go to Flora (again) for her debate of how planets never really are 'dead,' and for Stella, for suggesting to celebrate her win over manicures and milkshakes (Manicures are a given, but milkshakes? Is Stella living in the 50's now?).

I'm really looking forward to next week. We see Bloom's parents for the first time since Episode 2, as she tries to protect them from impending doom. What kind of impending doom? Well, you'll have to watch and see, right?

Oh just peachy, got Hurricane #5 underway, behind Ivan. Luckily, Ivan might miss us as he's heading to the gulf, but no word on Jeanie. (sp?)(Think that's the 5th hurricane's name). New world record methinks for hurricanes. 5 in a row, what's with Africa and Hurricanes always spawning near there? Is this a Weather-controlled-Conspiricy on Africa's part or something? Does Africa want revenge against the US? Sorry, Me and my rambling again.

(QOTW) "An arena packed with beauty queens. I'm kinda scared to go in there." - Flora, sounding cutely insecure as the girls arrived at the arena.I don't think it was because Flora was afraid she couldn't measure up to them. She was probably scared of the attitudes of the stereotypical beauty queens.

I don't think it was because Flora was afraid she couldn't measure up to them. She was probably scared of the attitudes of the stereotypical beauty queens.A valid point. For all we know, if Flora (or any of the other girls, for that matter) were so obsessant with beauty pageants as Stella, they probably could run the table. Unless they were all in the same pageant. Then, it would be tough to call.

Oh, and beauty queens can be scary. Believe me, I know.

WOOHOO! It looks like Ivan wont get near here till Monday or Tuesday, so im all in the clear to watch my favorite Pixies in action!! .. *ahem*.. err.. Fairies.
Oh wait.. Fairy.. It doesnt look like any of the other girls will be in the next episode. That's ok, I still like Bloom the most.

And i've managed to come to a bit of a conclusion that all 5 girls' 'personalities' seem to make up a whole person..

Bloom's like the Conscience of the Group.
Stella's like the Mischievious, lazy, and Fun part of the Group.
Techna's like the Common Sense, and Logic part of the Group.
Musa's like the aggressive part of the Group.
And Flora... Not sure. I'd like to say Shy, but shyness doesnt really help.
And Griselda's like the Pain in the butt of the Group. ^.^
(Ya ya, she's not in the group, i just had to mention her.)

OH! since everyone is giving their ratings for the 5 girls that they like from most to least, then lets add in the Staff too (with the Girls, this Could add to enjoyment)

This is my list from fav. most to least..

Bloom
Prof. Wizzit
Flora
Mrs. Faragonda
Professor Palladium
Stella
Tecna
The Cook
Ms. Griselda
Musa
Professor Dufour (Dont get to see her much, that's why she's at the bottom)

Frank15

And Flora... Not sure. I'd like to say Shy, but shyness doesnt really help.Flora's the sensetivity. She's the "emotional" one, not in the sense of whiny, but in the sense that she feels others, and feels for others.

Everyone's giving their rankings of the 5 girls? I didn't know that, but when in Rome....

1--Flora
2--Tecna
3--Stella
4--Bloom
5--Musa

1. Flora, of course;)
2. Bloom, for action
3. Tecna
4. Musa
5. Stella--sorry, everyone. She seems like the "stuck-up princess" type to me, IMO. Hope I don't offend any of you Stella fans.

My turn.

My top 5 goes like this:

1. Bloom (on account of her way-cool Dragon Fire power.)

2. Flora (She's just so cute and fashionable. And her Winx outfit is just the cutest.)

3. Tecna (Her accent is way cool, and she's got more gadgets than I do [And I have a lot.])

4. Musa (her voice is kinda grating, but she's ok. I'd like to hear her sing (they hinted at her singing in "Save the First Dance" but it never went anywhere.)

5. Stella, of course. I don't HATE her, she's just not as cool as the other girls. And the "stuck-up princess" vibe, as mentioned by Viper, is kinda annoying.

Oh! My turn! :)

1. Flora - Come on. Who doesn't love Flora? She's soft-spoken, sweet, adorable, has the cutest outfits...the list goes on and on. :D

2. Bloom - I like Bloom because she's usually quite sensible and mature. She's got a gentle yet bold personality.

3. Stella - As a fellow fashion freak, I love Stella. She's quirky, sarchastic, and very girly.

4. Tecna - She's smart and seems to take the initiative behind Bloom.

5. Musa - Not a huge Musa fan, sorry. =X She's cute, but comes in last on my list.

I'll do things a bit differently. (And with my usual insane amount of detail.)

Winx Girls:
1) Tecna: The voice of reason that rarely gets heeded. She's the most like me.
2) Flora: Sweet, sensitive and clumsy. She's probably the most likeable of the characters overall.
3) Stella: She's gained my approval in the past few episodes. She's gone from annoying to funny. Self-centered as she seems, she genuinely cares for the other girls.
4) Musa: Poor Musa doesn't really do much of anything. I hate her outdated vocabulary that made me cringe even when it was in style. I hate hip hop and think she needs to explore other types of music. (She probably does, but they don't show it.) I dislike her voice. But I'm still willing to give her a chance. I want to see her actually do something. I don't think she's used a special power of her own since the second episode.
5) Bloom: Truly I'm surprised to see Bloom ranking so high on a lot of lists. Yeah, she's got funky powers and I did like her at the beginning of the show, but she's gone vastly downhill since then. She's now this preachy, self-righteous character who mothers everyone even when they don't need it. The past two episodes have really buried her for me. I guess I like her better on her own or interacting with Brandon and the witches, but I hate how she treats the other Winx girls. She's the one that's new to Alfea and to the magical realms. She shouldn't be so condescending to the other girls. She should be learning from them instead. I'm very surprised the writers decided to go this way, and I hope she's not like this in the original Italian version.

Witches (all of them rank above the Winx girls):
1) Darcy: She's got the most diverse and effective powers and I dare say if she wanted to, she could easily be the one in charge. She's also got a little bit more of a human streak in her than the other two. Simply put, she rocks.
2) Icy: Pure evil. I love that about her.
3) Stormy: Stormy ranks the lowest because she's always so negative.

Not going to rank the boys. I don't care about them much. Faculty-wise, I like Ms. Griffin the most (of course), followed by Professor Palladium. I'd like to see more of the female professor from the 2nd episode. And more of our darling red-haired witch!

:anime: lol, im new here, and I really only joined for the Winx Club. Sorry if i do something wrong or anything.. :) First time posting.

For this episode, i really liked it because the showed all different kinds of fairies from different realms and such. I didnt get to tape this ep. because I slept over a friends house, but i still got to watch it.

:D Why not hop on da bandwagon.

My favorites (Out of all the characters i can think of)

#1 = Flora - she is just so sweet and cute!

#1 and 1/2 = Mirta (The red headed witch) - I give her 1 1/1 because she looks so awesome, and her personality seems really sweet, but i still havnt seen enough of her.

#2 = Tecna - tecna really reminds me of.. me ^-^ and her hair is awesome!

#3 = Darcy - Sooo evil and awesome!

#4 = Bloom - she is just cool! I just kind of like her lol

Stella: She's gained my approval in the past few episodes. She's gone from annoying to funny. Self-centered as she seems, she genuinely cares for the other girls.

and thats why #5 is Stella. She is just so.. so.. obsessed with herself i find it very funny! I mean, i usually laugh at alot of things, but stella just cracks me up!

#6 = Stormy - HER HAIR!! I have hair like stormy's, yup, im a perm head

#7 = Icy - She is just so evil!

#8 = Musa - Musa is ok, i just dont really like the character, maybe thats just cuz im not the big musicie kind of person, im more like da book worm

#9 = Lucy - She would be higher, but, along with Mirta, i havnt seen enough of her yet... but the doing almost anything to get popular, ughh hate that. Im not the popular kind of person, and i hate it when people want to be popular, when they are fine as they are!

and finally #10. #10 goes to all the boys! I dont really have a rating for them, so they all get 10th!

 sorry for the length in that... i tend to go on and on and on....

Well, anywho, i shall give it my own rating, and ill give it a 4. I mean, i enjoyed this episode! Sooo i shall give it a 4. I enjoy the overall series, and even the most annoying stuff never seems to bother me (a.k.a. stella seems to always make me laugh). Musa is the only teeny thing that bothers me alitte, but i've gotton over it lol. I guess im just not very nit picky... or uh.. something like that

 Well, if you did read all my ranting and such, thanks.... ^-^

Oh yah, i have one more thingie to quote/ say

So now it's confirmed that Stella's a freshman for a second straight year.

Didnt Stella say something in the second episode that she blew up a lab room trying to make a new shade of pink in the second episode? I have been thinking that was why she failed out...
