The block actually premiered on a Sunday, so your're a little late.

But no, they won't do anything. They didn't two anything in 2002, they didn't do anything in 2003, and I don't think that 2004 will be any different.

September 2, 2001 was a Sunday...

- wfFor some reason, I never think in terms of actual dates unless I specifically want to.

I just keyed in on Sunday versus Thursday and went from there.

Numbers are the enemy!

But I stand by my presumption that there won't be any substantial celebration.

Man feels like yesterday, Do you think Adult Swim might make something special in the bumpers tonight? Happy Birthday Kick ass Adult Swim! :DWait a minute... I thought Birdman wasn't part of the first Adult Swim line-up. I recall The Brak Show, Space Ghost C2C, Sea Lab 2021, Home Movies and Cowboy Bebop. Was that really the first line-up?

Also... it says "semi-NEW!" I don't remember... but did it air outside of Adult Swim? I know Space Ghost did but did any other shows from Adult Swim? (not counting the Brak Show since those are two very different shows).

semi-NEW was used for the Adult Swim pilots that aired in December 2000.

Wow... I completely forgot about that. Or maybe I didn't know. I was 16 in 2000 and I didn't pay much attention to late night CN.

In answer to those two questions:

1. Yes, Harvey Birdman was indeed part of the first Adult Swim line-up, with the show going on hiatus in November due to the length of time it took to make one episode of each show (keep in mind that it wasn't done in Flash animation yet).

2. SEMI-New meant that an episode had a stealth showing before Adult Swim premiered in September 2001.

As for my experiece, there's three things that I definitely remember when it comes to the first night of Adult Swim:

1. Metamorphesis (sp?): The Rock Opera
2. HESH WANTS SOME SEX!!!!!
3. The US television premiere of Cowboy Bebop (as it's airing on Adult Swim was a crucial role when it came to anime on American television).

Happy belated birthday Adult Swim! :D  :anime:

I remembered when it first premiered. The old people swimming in the pool, all the old shows... You just can't beat the classics! I can't believe it's been three years. Time sure does fly when you're not thinking about it!

3 years and still decent enough to waste some of time. gg

How the opinions have changed from the first TZ AS review thread (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=5987).

I also remember "Race and I met one night... / WITH YOUR BOYS!" "::punch:: Oh no!" and "HE IS FRANZ KAFKA!" specifically. Also how Cowboy Bebop airing was a huge deal, as back then airing an anime series aimed towards adults on basic cable, even with light editing, was unthinkable.

Chickmate would have been semi-new (It aired the morning the Birdman episode aired).

Random note. Director's Cut is the best episode produced of any show on Adultswim. That said, Adultswim has been downhill since night one. =[ (Awesome, I finally found a fitting thread to say this. =[ )

Outside obviously HM and CB, Sparks' Modest Proposal joke stole the night.

Yep three years, or as I like to state it 47 new episodes of Home Movies. Shocking isn't it?
