Is there anyone else here who's gonna be hit by Frances? Just wondering.

Here we go again for another fun-filled weekend.
While it isn't completely certain that my area will take a direct hit, we'll at least get the heavy rains and freakishly powerful winds (I suppose that holds true for most of the state). The thing is that there's still quite a bit of derbis left over from Charley's romp across the state, which makes it easy for projectiles to be thrown around. And all the trees that somehow stood up to Charley aren't going to be there for very long when Frances comes along.
I also wonder what this means for my new restaurant gig that I got a week ago. I've yet to get my first paycheck, and if the place vanishes in the storm, I get the feeling that I'll be FUBAR in that respect.
Otherwise, all the gas, ice, food, batteries, candles, water and other vital junk has been taken care of. Time to charge up the GBA and make sure that the little 7 year-old brat doesn't needlessly waste all of the power before I really need it.

My grandparents live in Palm Beach near the water. They aren't even bothering going up to Mount Dora a town an hour north of Orlando because they said it would hit them there too. I think it would be better for them to go up there since it is in the mainland and it would be safer. Hopefully I can talk them into changing their minds.
Mr. Pedro, just wondering, where is New Smirna (sorry if I spelled that wrong) Beach? Is it near Palm Beach or a little north from there

New Smyrna Beach is about 20 miles South of Daytona Beach.

One of my uncles lives in Ft. Lauderdale near the beach. He'll probably come to my house today for shelter. People who live near the ocean need to evacuate their homes. I don't live near the beach so I don't need to evacuate from my home. And believe me, I'm not afarid of hurricanes.

i have a relative in vero beach who might lose his house to storm surge..
he's right by the water. right by the ocean.
he's probably now safe at his maid's house .. but i'd best check on him in a while.
i hope to see him next year. even if he lives in a new house by then .
because if the 1st two times you fail..
the third time has got to be the charm.

I live just west of Clermont. Yesterday, the little arrows were going right through my house, but the projected path is now slightly more south. Slightly. Don't think we'll be as lucky with Frances as we were with Charley.
Was supposed to be staying at our Ormond Beach timeshare this weekend, just a few miles up the beach from Daytona's Main Street Pier. I was really looking forward to it, but now I guess all I can do is shake my fist at Frances and hope she doesn't rip apart my house.

It seems this year you could say that Florida is having a run of Bad luck..
3 to 4 weeks ago Hurricane Charley Ripped ashore along the West coast of Florida..(and a lot of damage was done...
Now it's Frances, and she's really twice as worse as Charley was, but how can we say that she's not doing damage... after all Labor Day Weekend is shot to heck if you want to go To Walt Disney world...
so far Florida's been nailed 2 times already by Hurricanes...That usually occurse once every 40 years. It was bound to happen.
Anyone want to make a wager there will be a third?
Well to be honest.. Don't look now but Mom Nature is about to pull a "Crazy" Ivan (http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ftp/graphics/AT09/refresh/AL0904W5+GIF/050853W5.gif) yet again, and who thinks now that the weather in Florida can't get any worse? Well don't look now.. but sure enough We got Frances in Florida now.. by this time next week? We could see Ivan sitting somewhere in Floridda..(But weather is very fickle.. after all Tropical Cyclones are fickle creatures.. and they can really give folks a headache..(I should know I went through 3 of them in 3 Years in Florida. so why do you think I moved to Arizona?)
so hang on to your hats.. cause we could see something that happens once every 100 or so years... 3 Hurricanes.. in a row, In florida.. Maybe Mickey Mouse should take out a Hurricane Insurance Policy on WDW.. ah well there goes the neighborhood.
Stay tooned..

I live in Tampa so I may get hit by it although its Category 1 last time I checked and may weaken more. I didn't have the chance to post here during the last storm but I made a crack about it in one of my spoofs. Nothing like dark humor. Although I'm sure the folks who got hit directly on the coasts from both hurricanes were not amused. Well, except some surfers who are amused by riding waves in the fringes of a storm, but I'm sure most came in before it got too close.

I feel sorry for all you Flordia people who have to deal with these Hurricanes and Tropical Storms and the other meanings of Tropic mayhem. Its just sad to see billions of dollars worth of homes destroyed because Mother Sea decided her son wanted to go play.
Now I wonder if the remants of that storms are coming up the east coast (I live in NY if anyone knew that)? I saw on the news that either Tuesday or Wednesday the storm should get us. Well, I'll have to wait and see, again.
