View Full Version : Bad edits...

I see the subject of edited episodes of TTA has been brought up recently.
I was just wondering what the worst editing job you've ever seen on an episode was.
The worst I ever saw was an episode shown by the British Network ITV.
It was the one where Bab's Nanna came to visit and her mother kept on asking Babs to "Do that funny thing you do".
The final line "I've fallen and I can't get up" was removed!
It ruined the entire segment. I mean, it was the punchline and they took it out! ( Thankfully, the versions shown on Irish tv seem to be uncut )
I've also seen Night of The Living Toons cut to ribbons. ( Although to be honest, some of it may have been a bit strong for young kids )
Oh yes... and I consider that 4 part version of HISMV to be an utter disgrace too.

An edit I remember is that Fox used to edit the scorpion eating scene from the end of the Bicycle Bob cartoon.

If I recall, I remember watching that Babs episode several times on Nick, some showings edited, some uncut. The first time I saw it, it was edited. The ending had Babs pulling out Elmer Fudd and screaming "SHOOT ME! SHOOT ME NOW!", and fainting to the floor. The cartoon irised out and ended. But the second time I saw it, after the iris, we heard a gun shot!

Tiny Toon Adventures edited!!!, now that I did not know, I did use to watch it on ITV then when it aired on Cartoon Network earlier this year (though I did not last long though), but I never thought it was edited

Yeah, I'm afraid ITV were very fond of going at the episodes with the scissors.
They cut almost two minutes of material from Night of the Living Toons, so much so that it didn't make much sense.
The full version is out on tape though :)

I'm curious. What was Night of the Living Toons about and what got cut?

Night of the Living Toons was part of the Toons From the Crypt episode, one of the last ones made.
The story involved Elmyra wishing she could see all her dead pets one last time and as is always the case when a foolish wish is made, it comes true.
The bits that were cut out were several shots of the animals digging themselves out of their graves, a moment where Furrball is grabbed and loads of scenes in the last couple of minutes where the dead pets follow Elmyra to her bedroom and she hides under the covers. ( Some of it was so badly edited it made little to no sense )
There's also a scene cut from Buster's introduction ( The bunny is playing the cryptkeeper ) where he cuts the head off a little Elmyra doll while singing the Mr. Skullhead theme.
Perhaps they were right in making the edits for my younger brother, who was quite young at the time, was terrified.

Sounds about right for ITV. Considering the time of day it was most likely shown (4-5pm slot), kids would have been freaked out.

J'arrive pas à croire que les Tiny Toons peuvent être censurés. À Télétoon, on a de la chance car il n'y a pas de censure! Et je trouve ça plate qu'il censure des scènes soit à Kids WB où à Fox Kids. :wakko:

In "It's All Relative," I'm not sure if Babs ever fainted at the very end (asside from "I've fallen and I can't get up"). All the times I've seen it, it seemed to be complete with gun shot.
I don't remember ever seeing the complete version of "Toons From the Crypt." I only saw "Night of the Living Pets" (not Toons) uncut on the "Fiendishly Funny Adventures" tape released about 9 or 8 years back.
I think the reason why "Toons From the Crypt" was so risque was because the staff at TTA had tough competion with the Simpsons "Treehouse of Horror" episodes, which were way more unsuitable for 2-7 year-old kids.

Re: the edit in the episode "Buster's New Bike" - I said it before and I'll say it again:
Who in their right mind (hell, even in their wrong mind) would be stupid enough to eat a bucket of scorpions?!

Was there ever a "banned" episode of Tiny Toons? Has the episode where Montana Max tries to hunt down a deer with a black-sounding voice still air? I havent seen this episode in years.

I have no idea. How desperate does Cal Worthington get out there in California? (I think he's who most car salesmen in cartoons nowadays are based on...and Bicycle Bob as well.)

"Toons of the Crypt" is considered "banned" and only aired on the FOX network during prime time hours (edited), and on Nickelodeon.
I don't quite remember the Montana Max episode you're referring to, Brandon. It sounds awfully firmiliar, but I have to check.

But I do. It aired as the third cartoon in a Mr. Popular episode. The cartoon was titled "Venison Anyone?", and the way you posted, it almost seems like you're making more of this than there should be. The actor who voiced Vinnie was Brian Mitchell (http://us.imdb.com/Name?Mitchell,+Brian+(I)).

Moi aussi :yakko:
Je veux regarder les episodes sans les censures :(
P.S. Martin Juneau, comment dit-on "uncut" au français?
*AHEM* I'll stop embarassing myself with my bad French now
I remember being REALLY wierded out by the gunshot ending in "It's All Relative" when I saw it for the first time (about 7 years ago). However, I still think it should be left alone because it makes for a good "shock-ending".
I see no reason for the scorpion edits (other then that some real stupid kid might try to imatate Bob by eating scorpions himself  ). The scorpion thing was just to make fun of that crazy Cal Worthington from the car dealership commercials in California.
I don't even remember "Toons From the Crypt" (the title does sound familiar though). Was that the same one where Elmyra wore the Elvira costume and hosted the show?
The one where Elmyra wishes back her dead pets sounds really good....too bad I'll probably never see it :(

Now that you mention it, "Me So Bunny" did seem to just slip by the censors. I'll bet, if any of the members of 2 Live Crew watched TTA, they were laughing non stop for days. Didn't Babs have on the spandex like the the girls in the video? (I like Babs in spandex...hee hee hee)
