So how many obscure characters from the early Warner shorts appeared on Tiny Toon Adventures? Offhand I can think of two--the hoppping mynah bird in "Buster and the Wolverine", from Chuck Jones' '40s-era Inki shorts, and the goldfish in Jones' "Fin 'n' Catty" (1943) appeared in "Elmyra's Spring Cleaning".

Do Bosko and Honey count as 'obscure'? ( I have to admit to the fact that I only discovered them when they appeared in TTA )

IIRC, Goopy Geer was in the "Two-Tone Town" episode (the one that featured Bosko and Honey). And Pete Puma was in one episode.

The Bookworm logged three appearances between 1939 and 1941. Clampett's "Falling Hare" Gremlins popped out of the center of the Earth. Michigan J. Frog has been overplayed, but I believe TTA marked his first ever return engagement.

ACtually, "Two-Tone Town" feature Foxy, Roxy and Goopy Geer... Bosko & Honey were featured in "Fields of Honey" =)

Wasn't Pete Puma the janitor?

Yeah, and he also tried to cook both Buster and Plucky in the cartoon Buttering Up the Buttfields.
I dont think any of us has forgotten Buddy's appearance in the Animaniacs episode The Warner Brother's 65 Anniversary Special. That was a surprise.
Funny thing about the Minah bird is that I'm sure no children watching TT had any idea where this character came from, considering few kids have ever seen the Inki cartoons.
I remember Clampetts little gremlin character also appeared in the final segment of the TTA: Night Ghoulery special in 1995. Actually, when he first appears they play a little instrumental snippet of "Gremlins Form the Kremlin" from Russian Rhapsody.
And finally, in TT: Spring Break Special, the little baby in the striped shirt from McKimson's Easter Yeggs appears in a scene taking place at the White House. "I want an easter egg, I want an easter egg, I want a easter egg!!!"

True, but the mynah also appears in a (Jones-directed?) short that airs from time to time on Cartoon Network, about a little elephant who wants to join a New York circus and paints himself pink to get aboard a cruise ship. Anyone know the name of the violin tune that accompanies the bird's hops?

He also shows up in "Journey to the Center of Acme Acres", after Max swipes the gold core of the planet. Interesting to hear Don Messick voicing both the Gremlin and Hamton....

Actually, the "Two-Tone Town" episode featured Foxy and Roxy, not Bosko and Honey.

Speaking of the gremlin appearing in Night Ghoulery...
That was one of my favourite TTA shorts ever. Plucky really nailed the Shatner role, a brilliant piece of work. ( Doing the scene as Jim Kirk rather than the Twilight Zone character was a good move )
I wonder how many people realised that this was because Shatner had appeared in the original 'Nightmare At 20,000 Feet'. ( Many of them, especially the younger ones, had probably only seen the John Lithgrow version )
One of TTA's finest moments and sadly, it's last.
Pity they never made another series.

That is Mendelssohn's (sp?) "Fingal Cave Overture". It can be heard on "The Carl Stalling Project" CD (in track 10).

When Shatner guest starred on 3rd Rock, he came out of his plane complaining that he had seen something on the wing and John Lithgow yelled "The same thing happened to me!"
I'm new to this board; I'd just like to say that Tiny Toons should never have ended because it's far superior to all its successors (including Animaniacs). There are some Tiny Toons things I don't think I've ever seen, particularly these specials (Christmas, Easter, Night Goulery?) that aired towards the end of the series.
Plucky owns all you suckas.

"Pluck Twacy" parodies an early Clampett Daffy, "Duck Twacy". In it appear two characters from early shorts: Shirley's evil aura is Hata Mari from the forties-era "Plane Daffy", and Ticklepuss appeared in a Porky short ("I know something I won't tell, I won't tell, I won't tell....") with a huge ornery Indian chief.
That short with the elephant and minah bird was McKimson's "Hobo Bobo." It was his only use of the bird.
I'd like to see "Pluck Twacy" again, I barely remember it, "Ticklepuss" would be Sloppy Moe, I think.
There was also a short called "Duck Dodger's Jr." I think. It was a sequel to the Duck Dodgers cartoons Jones did, it had Daffy, Plucky, Marvin, and some new Marvin-like little girl.
I'm surprised Sniffles never showed up as a "mentor" to Sneezer, then maybe I would have figured out the connection earlier. Sneezer has absolutely nothing in common with Sniffles...
Plucky once turned into Clampett's "giant eye" take from "Book Revue." That sort of counts.

I recall an appearance by Charlie Dog, as a mall pet store owner, coaching pets on how to look adorable for potential masters --- the short's plot involved Elmyra getting locked in the mall overnight. The Three Bears also appeared in a couple TTA cartoons.

Yup, she was Marsha Martian.
Did we ever see a picture of the Speedy Gonzales-like Tiny Toon? I'd really love to see that if anyone knows where I could find one on the net, or if they could be bothered to scan it.
