Below is an excerpt from the interview:

Though originally rumored to be a limited series, the project is currently in development as a 90-plus page hardcover graphic novel, with a 2002 release likely. And while the original rumors had JSA writer Geoff Johns attached as writer, it turns out those weren’t quite accurate. Joining Pacheco as writers on the book will be Geoff Johns and David Goyer, who not only makes a return to the JSA for this special, but also plans a return to the monthly series soon as well. But more on that in a minute…

Said the Spanish-born Pacheco on his writers, “We’re working with a really big bunch of pivotal DC elements in this story and since this is my first approach in years to this Universe ...well, there’s just a few writers out there able of dealing with the JLA and the JSA, particularly the JSA, and considering the wonderful work that Geoff and David have done in the JSA series, just tell me if they are not on the top of the shortlist?”

Pacheco said the reason he chose to do this project when other opportunities were available to him - like creator-owned work – is simply because its something he’s always wanted to do.

“Mike Carlin heard trough the grapevine I was leaving Marvel and he called me to ask me what I wanted to do for DC,” explained Pacheco. “Curiously, I had just read in a very popular comic magazine DC had been trying to do this crossover but they didn't have the creative team for it so was put on hold indefinitely. I was all for it.”
