Well, the summer movie season is over. So what would you say was the best movie you saw in theatres this summer?

It's a three way tie between Dodgeball, Shrek 2, and Fahrenheit 9/11.

The best movie that I saw this summer was not the mega dollar blockbuster Spider-Man 2, not was it a particually delightful family film called Shreck 2; it was in fact a romantic chick flick.

The Notebook starring Canadian newcomers Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams is a real treasure of a film. Although the plot is very predictable and a little undeveloped, Gosling and McAdams make up for it by really breathing life into their respectable characters. These two have a lot of chemestry on screen and that's what makes all of their scenes together very fun to watch. James Garner along with Gena Rowlands, Sam Shepard, and James Marsden make up a very strong and powerful supporting cast. Garner, in particular, is magnificant as old Noah. The scenery is goregous as well and the musical score, while not spectacular, worked well in the context of this film. Hey boys, go take your girlfriends out to see this, it really isn't that bad. ;) :)
Rating: ****/*****

Honorable Mention

Harry Potter and the Prisonar of Azkaban
Shreck 2
The Terminal
Collateral

I work at a theater so I see a lot of films-- and I must say that Shrek 2 was the best of them all. It had everything.

*cough*Spider-Man 2 even if it is overrated*cough* Well, actually it was the only movie I've seen this summer. Pathetic.

I really liked all the movies I saw this summer. I didn't see too many, but they were all good. My favorite, though was probably Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, not only because it was well done, but probably also because of my emotional attachment to the series... :)

edit: post 500! yay me! :D

Surprisingly I saw alot of movies this summer...

My favorite was Spider Man 2. :)

I also like the latest Harry Potter movie...

So it's a tie between those two.

My favorite summer movie was VAN HELSING (saw it four times), closely followed by ALIEN VS. PREDATOR and SPIDER-MAN 2, even if that was a bit disappointing.

Captain Harlock

Garden State was my favorite movie of the summer, followed by Fahrenheit 9/11, and then Spider-Man 2.

AvP
Fahrenheit 9/11

Spider-Man 2 didn't do it for me, even though I thought Hal Sparks moment in the movie was pretty damn funny.

Garden State was my favorite movie of the summer, followed by Fahrenheit 9/11, and then Spider-Man 2.
I really, really want to see that. Along with Napoleon Dynamite and Collateral.

I dunno if it counts or not, but Hero is the best movie I have seen all year.

Spider-Man 2 and Harold and Kumar are also up there on my list for Summer flicks.

It's a three way tie between Dodgeball, Shrek 2, and Fahrenheit 9/11.
That pretty much sums up half of my list, too. Also added on would be SPIDER-MAN 2 (overrated but still a good film and better than the original), and two sleeper hits, THE TERMINAL and COLLATERAL.

I only saw a couple, but I think I can safely say Spiderman 2 is the best movie I've seen this summer.

Napoleon Dynamite, no question. It's not a terribly deep film, but it is a wonderfully funny and well-structured one. I think it's the next big cult film... the next Spinal Tap, if you will. I also enjoyed Coffee and Cigarettes, Riding Giants, and Garden State.

Spider-Man 2 was a let-down.

Spider-Man 2 for me. I find the critics that dislike it appear to be digging for some reason for disliking it, as there are no obvious ones. I've read Spider-Man comics all my life, and I know the film wasn't as faithful as it should have been, but it was incredibly good nonetheless.

Definately a tie between Shrek 2 and Van Helsing. :)

Riddick
Runner Ups: Dodgeball, Manchurian Candidate

I loved Riddick, even if it didn't do well in the box office. I saw alot of movies this summer, too. I've been wanting a good Sci-Fi movie to see for a long time, and hopefully there is a sequel in the works. I hated Spider-Man 2, to be honest, even as a comic book fan. The dialogue wasn't very good, and overall it felt very cheesy and bad. Still better than the first one, which I didn't like either.

Spider-Man 2 was definitely the best, with Shrek 2 as a close second.

Garden State was definitely the best movie of the summer, but my FAVORITE was Spider-Man 2. Enjoyed the HELL out of that film, and was so impressed in every way. Second favorite is Garden State, followed by Napoleon Dynamite (probably the most original movie I saw this summer, and the funniest), then Collateral.

Spiderman 2
I Robot and Collateral.

I loved the hell out of these 3 movies my top 3 of the Summer.

hmmmmmm.

Best movie of the summer, I think, was either "Hero" or "Garden State".

I'm not sure what I'd follow that up with, as I skipped Shrek 2 and I Robot.

Funniest movies were "Napoleon Dynamite", then "Dodgeball", then "Alien vs. Predator". :)

Going from just what I've seen this summer.. I'd have to say my Best Movie of the Summer would have to be:

Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle. I enjoyed that movie thoroughly, laughing a lot, it did what it was supposed to do very well.

I'd then say I, Robot, followed by AVP and Spider-Man 2.

I'm embarrassed to say, but I only saw 4 movies this summer, and enjoyed the hell out of them all:

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (rewatch)
I, Robot
The Bourne Supremacy
Spider-Man 2

Though I really want to see "Hero."

Shrek 2, Troy and Spider-Man 2 were the best movies of the summer. The rest were good or awful.

Well. I can't say I saw many this summer... Harry Potter, The Terminal and Garden State. Never got around to seeing Spider Man 2 or Bourne Supremacy (Which is my fault for taking so long checking the original out).

I'd have to say Garden State wins hands down.

1. Spider-Man 2 (blew the original out of the water IMO)

2. Shrek 2 (It took the angle of fractured fairy tales to a new level with a mob boss type fairy God Mother a pompus Prince Charming and Puss in Boots as an assain for hire)
