Okay, now I know that this has probably been talked about already, but, oh well, lol. What does everyone think about it? And,do you think if they tried to pull off a batman live series, would it work? They obviously couldn't do a "before he was batman" thing, it wouldn't be much of a show. With supes we get to see him discovering his powers and such, I'm not sure they could do anything with a "before he was batman" series. It'd be great to see a batman series live, though. I think one of the reasons they haven't thought about doing it is that perhaps it might cost too much or something making a Gotham City and the makeup invovled for some villains. Anyhoo, those are my thoughts, anyone else?

I'm actually liking Smallville quite a bit, which I wasnt expecting given that I never did like Roswell which it is similar to.

That said, the main problem I have with it is the reliance of the kryptonite-created villain of the week.

As for a Batman show, I know that WB were originally going to do Bruce Wayne instead of Smallville. Bruce as a teen would've been tricky. Still it would've been even _more_ angsty than Smallville is.

It might've worked with Bruce a bit older, sort of using the young Bruce flashbacks in Mask of the Phantasm as a guide.

Speaking of other shows, the makers of Smallville are working on getting Birds of Prey going. Now that could be interesting, especially if they have enough juice to get other DC characters guest-staring.

I'm really enjoying Smallville. I don't like the weekly villains so much, but I really enjoyed the shapeshifter in the last episode. In fact, the last episode was probably my fave, dispite the fact that it lacked my two favorite characters (Lex and Cloe).

But overall, the series does a really good job of showing Clark as he might have grown up. The way he's learning about the Kryptonite, his relationship with his friends and with Lana (the graveyard...interesting way to meet friends).

I had a lotta doubts about this show, it being WB primetime and all. But the creators have really come through. And if they wanna make a Birds of Prey series, I'd LOVE to see it! Female-lead shows don't often make it, but I think these folks could pull it off.

When i first heard of this show, i was expecting a Dawson's Creek w/ superpowers. However, Smallville has really come through and become even better than shows w/o the teen angst angle. Smallville ROCKS!!!

I love the show, I think it's great so far. But, just how many villians are gonna sprout up that have been affected by the Kryptonite? It is cool and interesting that people have been affected by the radiation, but, what are they going to do for each new ep....have one by one the whole town go psycho due to kryptonite radiation? or do you think they'll ease off on the radiation affected villians and start focusing more on Clark and his powers, his relationship with Lana, and his relationship with Lex? And, sadly I haven't read the comic, but what does Lana Lang look like in them? I remember in the cartoon they made her a spunky red-head.

Lana looks about the same in the comics and she does in the cartoon. Her hair's a little more orange than red, though, and she never revealed that she had a crush on Clark until they graduated from high school. In the cartoon, she was much more of Clark's girlfriend than his best friend, at least that's what I thought.

Lol, point taken! And I agree completely now that I've thought about it. So...then maybe WB is just a big group of dunderheads, or they prefer to make a nice happy light show like Supes opposed a dark show like a Bat series would be like...nad the fact that they can't do the same early years deal that they can with Clark...bummer.

Yeah, I'd be wary if that early years of Bruce Wayne thing ever got made. Bruce left Gotham at 13 and did nothing but mental and physical training until he was about 25, and became Batman later that year. He had no "early years," or at least nothing WB would bother with.

The globe trotting exploits of a young Bruce Wayne would have made for a much more different series than Smallville, more like a cross between Bond and Young Indana Jones and Batman. I think with the right team, and the right budget, it would have been good.
