I recieved this email this afternoon from a Rhino Records promoter. This is a product like you guys haven't seen before...I'll certainly respond to this email. Jon, I bet you might be interested too, so if you want to email them just tell them I recommended you. Here's the email I got:

"Hello - love your site - wanted you to know that and I also wanted to write
you to let you know about our upcoming release! ~~ On August 21, Rhino
Records is releasing "That's All Folks Classic Songs From The Merrie
Melodies & Looney Tunes."

I am not sure who to e-mail to talk about promotional possibilities for your
site, but we would love to discuss the opportunity to launch a contest on
your site around the release of the new 2 CD anthology. This would provide
an exciting way for your web audience to be able to interact on your site
and of course it creates awareness of the album for us. We could also offer
up audio streaming of music if you would like and cross link too.

That's All Folks would most certainly be an album right up your site's
alley. I have provided details of the album below. The thought is to have a
contest whereby we would provide you prizing such as copies of the That's
All Folks CD and other fun stuff.
* 1st place prizes -- 3 winners would get copies of the new 2 CD
anthology plus book release (retail value of $31.98)
* 2nd place prize could be 5 winners will win a Powerpuff Girl CD &
Toonami CD
*
* That's All Folks comes out August 21, so it could be an Sept/Oct
promotion. We are very proud to present this collection and think your
audience would be just as excited about it as we are. I have provided some
details about the That's All Folks release below:
*
* Album points:
* Includes unforgettable tunes such as Bugs' rendition of "I Love to
Singa," and the infamous Daffy singing "The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down" This
collection also includes the complete soundtrack to 6 cartoons ("What's
Opera Doc," "Three Little Bops"- performed by Stan Freeberg and Shorty
Rogers, "Have You Got Any Castles," "Book Revue"-Daffy Duck, "Katnip
Kolledge," and "Back Alley Uproar"- Elmer & Sylvester) and much more...
* One of the primary differences between our anthology and previous
Stalling albums is That's All Folks includes 2 CD's of the infamous songs
(not just score) that everyone grew up with!
* Enhanced packaging includes a 100 page book comprised of historical
animation essays and original art from actual images of production cels,
lobby cards, background art and more...
* For added fun it includes a montage of Bugs Bunny singing over 2
dozen of his infamous songs
* Includes the music from the cartoon "What's Opera Doc" - which has
never been released in its original form before on CD!
* A must have for collectors - treasures originating from the Warner
Bros. vast animation collection carefully selected and not available
anywhere else. This 2 CD set truly reflects the efforts of one of the most
creative legends in the business, Carl Stalling.

This would provide a fun promotion for your site at no cost to you. I would
love to talk to you about how we could work together on this release and in
the future. Please e-mail or call me and let us know if this interests you,
if you need further information, or have other ideas!

Thank you,

I'd definitely buy that, and maybe I'll even participate in the contest (Free stuff is cool!).

I'd love to have the Back Alley Oproar, Book Revue, anll those others, and I Love to Singa on CD! I'll also get the 100 page book, I love cels and lobby cards! I can't wait for it to come out!

Good luck Matthew, but do you get anything for hosting the contest. I would think they would give you a copy for your time if you agree to this.

Actually, I got the exact same e-mail today as well. :p This CD set sounds GREAT, and this was the first I had heard about it. "Katnip Kollege", "Have You Got Any Castles?", and "Three Little Bops" on CD! I can't wait!

I may reply to Rhino and see if we can work something out. Also, Matthew, I slightly edited your message to remove the person's e-mail and phone #, which I doubt the whole world was meant to see.

OK -

this is the second reference to this sequence I've seen - anybody know where this bit came from? Was it in a full 'toon, or just a gag sequence, like Porky's 'Son of a B..B...'?

inquiring minds want to know!

Right, Snowpeck! Daffy sings along the side of a pond, shakes hands with his reflection at the end, it is very entertaining. To me, it is the best reason to buy this CD set (though it would be better if you saw it first). I still doubt that I'll actually buy it though. I haven't heard about the Toonami CD, I must've been asleep when news came out about that one.
