Plot: Porky ventures into Darkest Africa in search of the last Do-Do bird, and winds up in Wackyland, a surreal place where the sun comes up atop a human pyramid, the Warner Brothers shield comes zooming from the sky, and populated by creatures such as a three-headed Larry Moe and Curly beast. The Do-Do finally appears, to great fanfare, and eludes Porky by pulling out a pencil and drawing himself a door.
Rating: B
Comments and Observations:
1. Pretty good Bob Clampett cartoon. But, I have to say, Fiz Freleng killed it when he did a remake in 1948.
2. Note the CatDog creature the crashes into Porky. Now we all know how peter Hanan came up with the idea for the cartoon CatDog.
Edits: Nickelodeon removed the part with the Al Jolson duck saying, "Mammy.... Mammy.... mammy..." over and over.
Technical Stuff: None that I can think of.

This is easy. I LOVE this cartoon. It was very creative, wild, wacky, and pure Clampett. I also like the Three-Stooges beast. This is also one of the few instances in which I like the computer colorized version over the B&W version, because the wild and wacky colors just add to the zaniness of this cartoon even more. Wonderful cartoon.
Rating: 10/10 all the way!

There was also the two-headed fish who was asking about Mr. Ripley in "Fresh Fish" (1939, Avery), which I thought might have inspired Hannan. "Oh, go lay an egg!"

Did you mark the Friz Freleng version against it? Is that why you gave it an B? Just curious.;)

I love "Porky in Wackyland", it's one of Clampett's best. I largely prefer the black and white version, and the remade version, "Dough For The Dodo", is the same cartoon remade in color, but somehow it's not as funny.

I think both the original and the remade versions have their pluses and minuses. The Freleng version unfortunately redubs and partially eliminates the effeminant voice of the monster and also eliminates Clampett's cat-dog gag (Sody ought to sue Viacom over that one, BTW), while I like the remake's ending better, along with the gag of Porky floating in front of the moving scenery instead of going down through the water pipe.

The original is the ultimate. Its creator's vision.
But I'm so used to the remake, having seen only that one growing up. Didn't get the pleasure of seeing the original until the late '80s/early '90s. I like the 1940s' sound fx a great deal. The background in PiW is more loaded with characters than the newer background in DftDD, so much is lost there in the Freleng version. And the li'l "Pawn broker's sign" character's lips don't move right to the redubbed one.
One gag in the '49 one I really like that's abscent from the original is the brick falling out of the brick onto Porky's head.
Personally, I think both are classics. Porky in Wackyland and Dough For the Do Do are different enough for me to like each one for their own merits. I love the little added gags, like the catdog character in the Clampett original, and I love the erie Daliesque backgrounds in the remake. I give both a big 10 out of 10!
Too bad the most anyone ever gets to see of the second Wackyland cartoon, Tin Pan Alley Cats, is in Dough For the Do Do. It's also an excellent cartoon!
