I was wondering: on the cartoon, was Toyman really a guy with a ceramic head or was "he" a remote-controlled toy? I think that it's the latter.

I'm pretty sure it was a guy with a ceramic head. In "Fun and Games," after his hideout goes boom, the Metropolis police find the shattered head... but no body. I'm sure that if he was a toy, we would have seen it wrecked.

I never managed to catch the 2nd Toyman ep on STAS. Did that shed any light on whether he himself was a "toy," or was using one as a decoy?

No, but it did prove that he's somewhat of a pervert. I won't ruin it for you, but suffice to say that Toyman must have some real issues with women. "I wanted to go out...see the world...but all you wanted to do was sit around and play with toys!" Also, when it pulls in for an extreme close-up emotional shot of Toyman in the final moments...it's too creepy because he doesn't really have a face that can show fear or sweat, so all we see is that blank daffy ceramic grin....

I've always liked to think he was a cyborg, if you will, with a robotic ceramic head.

He was a real person. In the first episode, he tells his origin as the son of a toymaker who was sold out by Mannheim. He built a robot duplicate of himself though. So - he was real....

"His hate is real, but he is not."
Sorry, couldn't resist.
