It's an excellent 1986 John Carpenter produced Fantasy comedy action adventure flick with a cult following about a truck driver named " Jack Burton" ( Played by Kurt Russel) who goes to Chinatown San Franscisco where he must rescue his best friend's fianace from an evil ancient Chinese sorcerer and an army of evil spirits.

It's very entertaining and contains action, romance, sharp sense of humor, demons, spirits, sword fighting, martial arts, sorcerey, a flying meatball with eyes all over it, some kissing, fighting, everything and especially a guy who inflates whenever he gets angry then explodes into a shower of toss salad.

I strongly recommend renting this movie or owning it, watching it is never enough.

Fact: This movie was the inspiration to the Mortal Kombat games.

Howdy,

"Jeez, Egg, what is THAT?"

"Black Blood of the Earth."

"What, you mean oil?"

"I mean Black Blood of the Earth!"

Pre-ordered the 2-disc DVD when this came out. Thoroughly excellent movie. The commentary track between John Carpenter and Kurt Russell is a blast to listen to.

If you're a fan, check out the Wing Kong Exchange (http://www.wingkong.net/), ultimate Big Trouble in Little China fan site, including proof that Secretary of State Colin Powell is a member of the Chang Sings (http://www.wingkong.net/news.htm)! Click through that link and search for "05/03/03".

I love BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA. (Then again, I've yet to see a Carpenter movie I didn't like). I've never read about it being the inspiration for the MORTAL KOMBAT games, but I do know it was originally written as a western, which is why Jack Burton has Mocasin(sp?)-style boots and carries saddle bags with him. It was even adapt as a sequel to BUCKAROO BANZAI at one point. The commentary is a riot. Actually, all Carpenter/Russell commentaries are.

Don't you just loved it when Thunder the bad guy inflated when he got mad from seeing his master dead then explodes into a shower of toss salad?

What was it with his hair messing up when he inflated?
