After many delays, THE POPEYE SHOW (formerly titled "I'M POPEYE!") a new half-hour compilation series of restored Paramount POPEYE cartoons, will finally premiere this weekend - the night of Nov. 11 (morning of Nov. 12) at 1:00 am. Starting December 2nd Cartoon Network will run two episodes back-to-back each week.

Two eps each Sun. starting in Dec.! Is this great or what! :D

Yeah, I read that too, but I didn't really like that two episodes are being shown back-to-back. There have only been 13 episodes of "I'm Popeye/The Popeye Show" made (which is usual for a first batch for a series), and it sounds like CN might be trying to burn them off quickly. You know, because of a "What were we thinking in ordering this show?" kind of feeling. I hope I'm wrong, and I hope the show does dynamite ratings (I'm actually in favor of the late-night showing for a show like this). But I just can't shake this feeling.....

I just hope that LNB&W will remain one hour once they start airing back-to-back episodes of I'm Popeye!. I bet they will probably drop the "old" Popeye show (the one that followed Droopy).

Right now, the online schedule for Dec. 2 shows Popeye at 1 and 1:30, followed by LNB&W for 1 hour. Like you predicted, no old Popeye show after Droopy, but Bullwinkle will be on after Droopy in its usual 3:30 slot.

The old Popeye show will still be on tomorrow though.

Since nobody put it on the news page, I posted this info. Hope no one minds (I've never posted news before).

I can't wait for this show, I've been so anxious about it. The cartoons will finally be whole again!

I dug out a tape for tomorrow night. I had taped the redrawns on this tape, when they aired in 1988. I taped over the redrawns back in the fall of 1991. So I figure why not re-tape the Popeyes in their original theatrical glory.

Being a Big fan I couldn't help myself but to Make it "Popeye
week" on tvisland.
And so I've encoded a HUGE Real media file containing 9 Classic Popeye's in a row That ads up to 1 hr 09 mn. Using as much Bandwidth as I could. (larger screen on 56k modems.)
They are as follow;
A haul in one, Aladdin and his wonderful lamp,(20minutes), Assault and Flattery, Patriotic Popeye,
Private eye Popeye, Shut eye Popeye, I don't Scare Popeye,
Taxi Turvey, Big Bad Sinbad,
I will be showing these only for a short time as you can well understand the amount of bandwidth these will use. they also are shown PRIVATELY
witch is to say that I show them only to tvisland Members.
But you can easily sign up as lots of you already know.
and as usual there is no commercialism involved just the love of Classic cartoons. Long Live Popeye!
Just follow the link...http://www.tvisland.net/join.html

Tvisland, I use Go!Zilla (version 3.5), which enables downloading to be done in parts, IF the remote host allows. Will your host have any problem with that?

Two words: "popular demand" ... think positive!

(OK, so that's six words. Sue me.)
