I think the Batman: Gotham Adventures issue sounds great. I am expected to be dissapointed, but the action sequence with art by Burchett has my mouth watering with anticipation!

Ok, the Dick Grayson focused issue sounds interesting, but the cover worries me. I mean, if Bob Smith chose that moment as a way to sell the issue to others, since the cover usually sells the book and portrays the climax or most interesting moment, I have serious doubts. If Batman running towards a bus is the best part of the issue, I'm getting the feeling Peterson wrote us up anyother doozy.... :(

Question, DG: Before you reported that two guest animated aritsts would be featured in the issue (aside from Levins), saying they were Rick Burchett and someone else who's name you wouldn't mention. In the comic description, it only lists Burchett and Levins as being the artists on the issue. Is that other artist still in the issue? Did they decide not to include his work after all? Surely DC would have advertized the other artist as well as a way to get more people to buy the issue...! So, what's up

I'm not sure what happened, but I'll do my best to find out. When I first saw the soliciation info last week, I was wondering the same thing. Maybe it's a surprise or something. I'll ask around and see what I can dig up, but I'm not sure why the third artist isn't advertised.

And I'm not worried about the cover. I think it looks cool and will likely be apart of Burchett's 10 page action sequence.

From what you know, there is still a third artist involved????

If you re-read the solicitation info, you'll notice that there are indeed three artists listed. Terry Beatty is doing double duty this issue as both a penciller and an inker. Mystery solved!

Hope you guys enjoy the issue!

Do the pages drawn by different artists represent different times in the animated Batman continuity, such as The Batman Adventures, The Batman Robin Adventures, Lost Years and Gotham Adventures? Or are they more there to just draw different parts of the story, with no relation to flashbacks or such?

Just trying to understand how and why the different artists are used...

Well, without giving too much away, there is a distinct pattern to how the art is divided. That is, each of us has worked on a specific portion of the story that is independent from the others, yet linked to form a complete 22 page issue. Got it? ;)

Also, look for some flashbacks in an upcoming issue to the era of the yellow and black Bat-emblem. I can't wait!

I think that Evan Dorkin might be a little too critical of his final Superman stories (#65-66). He's always been his worst critic...I bet it will be great.

The cover to the final Superman issue looks really good, gonna hate to see it go. The B:GA stories all look pretty hopeful, so I guess we'll just have to see....

Thanks for popping back online Tim. It's been ages since I've seen ya post here. And I am looking forward to Terry Beatty coming back. He did do a good job on issue #31 - even if his work was a bit Joe Staton-ish. I am looking forward to this issue.

And I'm glad to hear about these upcoming issues...sounds like alot of potential out there...:)

Good points:

Old artists are coming back, the stories seem to be becoming more inventive and hopefully consistant quality will follow.

Bad points:

Terry Beatty :( ??? :( Aww! I was hoping Ty would drop by, or Aluir or Cameron Stewart or Darwyn Cooke! (grumble) without sounding ungreatful, Terry should stick to inking, as his art really isn't that great. We need some new blood in the Animated titles. Hopefully, the artists who will draw the Starro issue of JLA and that Gotham Girls gal will blow our socks off, and join the animated series full time!

Terry Beatty? Damn. I really didn't like the art he provided for Templeton's latest story a while back. And it will look even worse compared with that of Tim or Rick Burchett!

James Harvey

I think Terry's art will stick out abit, too. Compared to Levins and Burchett, Beatty's art will appear more Staton-esque, which certainly isn't a compliment. Still - I have an optomistic outlook on this.

Levins, Burchett and Beatty. (Where's Craig Rousseau? ;) ) Should be interesting!

With the three artists, maybe this means we'll see the issue take place in three different times. Should actually be good...
