Now that this series has run its course, what did everyone think? I enjoyed the story arc quite a bit, thought the art was excellent, and of course, Busiek's writing was top notch. The pacing was quick (but not confusing), and the story had a nice sense of drama, on both a global scale and as the interpersonal relationships crumbled. It's great to see Zemo return to his roots as a scarred, masked, crazed evil mastermind bent on world domination.

Does anyone know the inside skinny on this series, such as how it came to be (I'm guessing Busiek demanded a chance to tie up loose plot threads), and what's up with the new T-Bolts series (I'm guessing sales numbers on this limited series were good enough to make Marvel realize they'd butchered the original T-Bolts for no good reason)? Has that "other" Thunderbolts mag been cancelled yet? I don't see it anymore, and that thing was a steaming pile if I ever saw one.

Will Busiek be writing the new series as well?

Howdy,

Will Busiek be writing the new series as well? To be fair, Busiek co-wrote the series with Fabian Nicieza.

Answers:

- The origins of the comic are officially in this old news article on Pulse News (http://www.comicon.com/cgi-bin/pulse.cgi?http%3A//www.comicon.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi%3Fubb%3Dget_topic%26f%3D36%26t%3D001723).

- The "Fight Club" Thunderbolts comic was indeed cancelled a long time ago, I believe with issue #75.

- Busiek and Nicieza will be co-credited on the on-going series. (EDIT: Er, sorry...according to the leaked Marvel solicits, it's Busiek only. Apologies for the misinformation.)

Thanks for the info. As a big T-Bolts fan who was very ticked about what Marvel did to the series (and you should have seen how mad my wife was!), it's kind of nice to feel vindicated by the abysmal failure of that nonsense, and the resurgence of the real Thunderbolts.

Now, I already read pretty much anything Busiek is involved with, but after reading that article, he's now my hero for life:

"I've been...arguing to make it louder and squirrellier and saying we should forget what people think of as NuMarvel and pack this baby with superhero-y goodness with all the action and costumes and running around and shouting and treachery and surprises we can."

Amen, Brother Kurt! AMEN!
