View Full Version : do you know this toon
can anyone please help, i am searching for an old cartoon that that had a little african warrior in it a buzzard and a lion, the music was fantastic and i want to track it down, I thought it was a WB toon but now I'm not sure anyone out there know what I am talking about?
It was actually a Minah bird, not a Buzzard. The boy is named Inki, and yes, they are WB characters. They just get censored today because Inki is black. You gave a pretty vague description, so I can't tell you what cartoon it is specifically. Inki and the Minah bird appeared in five cartoon, and only a few have a lion, so here's their whole filmography:
Little Lion Hunter 1939 Merrie Melodie
Inki and the Lion 1941 Merrie Melodie
Inki and the Minah Bird 1943 Merrie Melodie
Inki at the Circus 1947 Merrie Melodie
Caveman Inki 1950 Looney Tune
You most likely saw "Inki and the Minah Bird" since it's the most common Inki cartoon.
The music is a piece called "Fingal's Cave" (sometimes called "Fingal's Cave Overture") and is used whenever the Minah is on screen. They also have some great Carl Stalling music.

This sounds like one of the Inki cartoons. Could it have been a minah bird (small black bird) instead of a vulture?
Anyways, if that is the case, it is probably either Little Lion Hunter, Inki and the Lion, or Inki and the Minah Bird.

Don't forget also was the Mynah Bird was also appeared on one Sylvester & Tweety Msteries episode and of the Video-Movie Tweety's High-Flying Adventure

I moved his post over from the Feedback board. I must have had that one set to not count in post totals. I should change that...
...there, all better! He now has his 1 post.

The music from Caveman Inki is available on The Carl Stalling Project CD. The Little Lion Hunter, Inki and the Lion, and Inki at the Circus are available on the out of print VHS: Little Tweety/ Little Inki Cartoon Festival Featuring: I Taw a Putty Tat. You can find that on ebay from time to time. Inki and the Minah bird is available on many public domain tapes, and Caveman Inki is not available on VHS, though you can get it through someone who was fortunate enoough to record it when it last aired over ten years ago.
