Well, the first episode is over, and, well, there's only one thing to say.

It was hilarious!

I loved every minute of this show. I was originally worried about it, thinking that nothing could hold a candle to the cartoon. This show comes close. Patrick Warburton made an excellent Tick. And I loved those tick-ears.

That line, to the coffee machine, pure gold!

See, I told everybody there was nothing to worry about! ;)

Bat Manuel: "I saved them three times that night, if you know what I mean."
Tick: "Nope."

And people thought the show couldn't work without real villians! I never watched the Tick cartoon but that Red Scare was great if he was new!

If you have seen Warburton from Dave's World and Seinfield then you knew he fit the character perfectly. The antennie (sp?) moving was an unexpected bonus!:D

Great show! Actually, I think I had my expectations a little too high, but I really liked it anyway. Hilarious stuff. I loved the wiggling tick antennaes. Warburton was a great choice for the tick. Looks like I finally have something to watch on Thursday nights.

Oh man, that was great! And having the Tick start off as the protector of a bus station was pure genius! And the Tick-isms are getting even better now that they don't have to worry about offending the kids. The production values seemed a little cheap... but it fits the Tick well, oddly. Patrick Warburton's Tick is absolutely wonderful, though it's taking me a little while to warm up to Arthur. Hopefully, they'll develop Captain Liberty and Bat Manuel more...

"Release from your belly the thick, black urine that men call coffee!" Hee hee hee...

Gee, I guess superhero shows really don't translate well...

It was alright for a pilot, I suppose. I think that my expectations were a little high as well. It kept some of the elements of the cartoon and the comic book, which I liked (the scene in his apartment, his bizzare musings). I guess that I'm still spoiled by the cartoon.

Patrick Warburton was okay, but doesn't he sound a little bit like Chris Farley?

Red Scare was in the comics and not the cartoon, and in the comics he wasn't a robot.

I liked this, though I don't think that I enjoyed it as much of the cartoon. But I'll keep watching. Thanks to Tim Drake for bringing up the show in the other thread, cuz if he hadn't I wouldn't have remembered to watch the premiere. I read about it elsewhere but the thread here helped me remember to be in front of the set on time.

"It's Apocolypse Cow!"
I laughed so hard...that was a GREAT SHOW! hahaha...perfect.
"She's 50 feet tall, & can shoot fire from her teets..."
hahaha..perfect. *sigh*

Here's hoping 1-Ton & That Puppet show up sometime. That'd be hallarious. Sorry, I forget the name of his puppet buddy. I loved them, though...

I really enjoyed it. The coffee machine line is probably the most hilarious thing I've heard in a long, long time! I am definatly gonna catch this show on a weekly basis.

It came straight from the comics! In issue #5 of the original series, a character Paul the Samurai says [to the Tick] "I welcome you to share my cheez doodles and machine urine!"

I missed it. I didn't even know it was on. Not even knowing about channels or anything. Did I miss a lot?

I only saw the last few minutes, but even those seemed pretty good. I'll definitely have to check out next week's show!

Since it was penned by Edlund himself, I don't guess that's plagarism.

I think one of the funniest parts was at the beginning when the old man at the bus station told him he had dropped his bus ticket and gave him a free ticket just to get rid of him. When I saw that, I knew it was the same Tick from the cartoon.

I wonder if Christopher Lloyd will be back? Sure doesn't seem like it, though. Too bad, cause he was great. "My time is worth $17 a minute."

yeah, i really wanted to watch it, but i had way too much school work to do. i remember first hearing about a while ago and thinking it would suck, but the first time i saw the comercial i could tell it would be good. i dont think it can be quite as good as the cartoon, but who knows? yeah, i'll definately have to catch it next thursday. anyone know if fox is re-airing the premire this weekend for any odd reason??

it was a hoot (yes, people still use that word)

my favorite line in it was "A secret message....from my teeth!"

I'm definitely tuning in next week.

Yeah I thought it was good but it did feel rushed trying to introduce the Tick, Arthur, Bat Manuel, Captain Liberty, and a villain in 22 minutes. But this show still made me crack up.

I loved this show!

Patrick Warburton was just perfect as The Tick (although, and I know I'm not alone on this, the blue eyebrows creeped me out). Put me on the list of viewers that have yet to warm up to David Burke (Arthur).

Some of my favorite lines:

"My time is worth $17 a second."

"Fight fire with Arthur."

And I'll be saying that "java devil" line for weeks to come.

I can't wait to see what's next.

Warburton's Tick is great. The best line was "I have cleansed your bladder of the black yurin known as coffee. You are my *****!" And "Tick, Jimmy Carter's in town." "What kind of a coincidence is that?"

My favorite line was "It's apocalypse cow!" That had me ROLLING!

Don't forget, "I don't to poop with a machiene!"

The Mad Hatter
11-09-2001, 06:15 PM
...and the running gag of someone rhetorically asking Tick if he caught a crude innuendo, and him saying "nope!" Gotta love that big blue lug...

This kind of reminded me of Adam West's Batman. In a good way. ;)

Well, i liked it a lot! Although, to me, the adult humor seemed a bit out of place. It just didn't feel fitting w/ the more cartoony/comic style. But part of that is do to the fact that i am really used to the cartoon. I was shocked when i heard Tick call the coffee machine his *****. And when BatManuel and Liberty were getting it on on the rooftop.

But the funny parts were still funny, and definately the same ol' Tick i know and love.

I did'nt get to see it, only because WWF Smackdown was on... I wish they would change the time. That would be great. Same with Family Guy.
