Great site! Just one little mistake made. Issue #3 of Justice League Adventures is pencilled by John Delaney not Craig Rousseau. I haven't seen the inked pages yet but I think the inker is Rob Leigh however it could be Randy Elliot ( he inked the cover ). Check it out! Fabian's story was a blast to work on. Really big wide screen stuff!!

HOLEE!!! THE Mr. Delaney!!!

I have got to tell you that I loved your work on Adventures in the DC Universe, especially your Wonder Woman, and hope to see much more of your work in the pages of Justice League Adventures and Batman: Gotham Adventures!!!
One question though: After having drawn the Justice League a certain way in ADCU, did you find yourself having to correct/adjust/change your style to fit the new look of the characters? What about the costume changes? Frankly, I preferred Wonder Woman's bigger breast-plate like the classic one you drew. I was disappointed that ADCU was cancelled, but I really enjoyed the final issue: Catwoman and Wondie, my two favorite heroines (even if Selina does need some therapy)!

Hey DisneyBoy
Thanks a lot for all the support. When I was working on ADCU there wasn't a cartoon show and there really wasn't style guides for most of the characters so it was definately fun designing looks for each of the characters not already designed by Bruce Timm.
( Wonder Woman being a particular favorite) That allowed me a little bit more flexibilty in pushing the parameters of the animated style and injecting a little of my take on it. With Justice League Adventures ( thus far I've done covers for issue 2, 3 and 5 as well as interior pencils for 3) I'm definately sticking much closer to the design style so that it matches the show. So yeah there is definately a little adgustment involved but these Justice League designs are so cool it makes it easy!
Cheers
John

John, would it be possible for you to send us a color version of the cover to issue #3? The one DC provided is only B&W.

We have the covers of every ADCU issue you did on the TZ Comics page.

Mr. Delaney,

I'm not sure if I can even ask you this, but would you at all be interested in selling some of your ADCU artwork or making me a drawing? I really enjoyed your Wonder Woman and would love to have a sketch/drawing of her! Are we even allowed to exchange emails here...

Hey DisneyBoy
I have no problem with selling pages of ADCU stuff. What I would prefer as a method of doing this would be if you have a particular page in mind, let me know which it is. I'll check and make sure I still have it, if I do, I'll get you to send me a money order to my studio. Once I recieve payment I'll send out the piece. The price I charge for pages is $75.00 (American) and $200.00 for covers.
Let me know if you're interested.F.Y.I. I also have Dexter's Laboratory pages and Scooby Doo pages avaliable.
Hope that answers your question
All the Best
John

Thanks ClayFace! You've always been my favorite Bat-villian. It's great to have a chance to communicate with the readers out there, although I'm notoriously bad for regularly checking my E-mails so if I don't always respond right away please don't take it personally
Cheers

I got a question for you Mr. Delaney (can I call you John?),

What is it like working on the comic when you haven't set your eyes on the animated show JUSTICE LEAGUE yet?

Hey Dick
Ofcourse please call me John, Mr.Delaney is my father. Great question by the way. It's tough trying to get the feel of the cartoon without seeing the show so I just tried to draw the characters as on model as I could and give the paneling a real wide screen look in accordance to what Bruce Timm has been talking about in interviews. I remember when I was working on ADCU and the new Batman and Robin designs were given to us to incorporate into our Nightwing story. The problem was there was no complete turnaround of Nightwing yet so I didn't know what he would look like from behind, so I had to just bluff his costume design and in the one panel where we see Nightwing from behind I drew the same blue bird design he has in front continuing on the back. When I finally got to see an episode of the show I saw how it was different in back but not before several fans pointed out my error to me. That's why I was so glad when I started on this book all the characters had full turnaround designs.
Cheers
John

I wonder, would you be able to post up an image from your issue? I'm an admirer of your work, and I'd like to see the adjustments you made to your artisitc style to benefit the series.

Hey Phishman
Generally we artists are asked by DC not to display any artwork that hasn't been published until after it has been released. However if you would like to see the non-inked pencils, remind me again after Jan.09/02 (the release date of Justice League Adventures #3) and I'd be happy to post a few.
Cheers

I'll make sure Phishman reminds ya! I like seeing un-inked art, as it tends to sometimes change drastically.

This is really fantastic to have creative artists like John Delaney and Paul Storrie dropping in to visit and talk about their work.

I guess if they really felt like it they'd contribute directly to other threads and topics, but I would like to go out of my way to invite them to join in any other conversations around here. We've got some interesting threads on the BS&B board right now about Superman's powers and how Kryptonite works, for instance. I for one would love to hear what thoughts actual writers and artists on the comics have had about that kind of topic. Along with their thoughts on anything else that comes up. (Like, do they have any ideas what the "Z" in DBZ stands for? :D )

Don't mean to put any pressure on. Just want to make sure you guys feel welcome enough to make yourselves at home. :)
