View Full Version : Were There Any Characters That the Superman & Batman Shows Forgot About?

I always wanted to see either the BTAS or TNBA introduce the Huntress. However, since we don't want another Batgirl rip-off, I'd want them to use the Huntress as a villain.
Hear me out: in the original appearances of the character she was Helena Wayne--the daughter of Batman and Catwoman. This was, of course, wiped out in 1985's Crisis series; after which she became Helena Bertinelli, daughter of a slain mob boss.
Taking a cue from the Joker's Daughter character from The Teen Titans, what if Helena Bertinelli somehow became deluded into believing that Batman was her father instead of the mob boss that is her actual father (maybe Rupert Thorne). That would put her at odds with Nightwing, Batgirl, and Robin--she'd be jealous of their "parental" relationship with Batman. As icing on the cake, she'd find out their secret identities.
Does anyone else have a favorite character from the comics that just didn't make the cut on BTAS or STAS? If so, how would you introduce them?

Originally Babs Gordon, smitten as a young lass with the Bat after seeing him talking to her father in his study, became Batgirl for a masquerade party...but it took on a heroic dynamic after she saved Bruce Wayne from a thug called Killer Moth. The writers threw that out the window and went with a two-parter with Two-Face. I don't know anything about him besides that, or how I'd have brought him in....

Batman and Catwoman managed to have a daughter? Whoa....how did that story go? (If it's too spoilerish, could someone PM me?)

Thanks. The avatar is actually from some of the promotional material. It's a self portrait of Jhonen.
I'm pretty sure that Joker's Daughter was one of the supporting characters from the Teen Titans back in the 80's. She was this delusional character who first believed that she was the Joker's daughter, then Two-Face's daughter, and so on (from what I remember she wasn't related to anybody we know). I don't know that much else about her.
DR. BELCH:
Killer Moth was actually a really cool concept that had the misfortune of being saddled with one of the Silver Age's worst costumes. He was this criminal that got it into his head to become the anti-Batman--whereas Batman was a crimefighter who protected the innocent and stopped bad guys, the Killer Moth was a criminal who protected other criminals and stopped the cops (and Batman) from arresting them. Cool concept, but his costume was a laughable mixture of purple, orange, and yellow--with a big bug mask. He had a Moth signal, a mothmobile, etc. Currently, he's the Man-Batish beast Charaxes in the Batman comics (he was transformed into his current form during DC's Underworld Unleashed mini-series back in 1995).
The BTAS writers toyed with the idea of introducing him, but nixed it because he looked so ridiculous. I always thought that if they could take the concept and connect it with a more fearsome identity (like the Phantasm) that they would really have something.
Nightflower:
No spoilers necessary--this is really old news:
In the pre-Crisis, the Earth 2 versions of Batman and Catwoman [the Golden Age versions] eventually got married and had a daughter, Helena Wayne. Their daughter became a crimefighter named the Huntress. However, she died during DC's reality altering Crisis on Infinite Earths, after which she--along with Earth 2--ceased to exist. A couple years afterwards she was reintroduced as Helena Bertinelli, the daughter of a slain gangster who was motivated by Batman to become the Huntress.
Whew! I know way too much about this stuff!

Guys, I suggest you read Batman and Robin Adventures #17 comic, in which the animated version of the Huntress is introduced. Although the art isn't that great, the story is pretty good, and it is her only official animated appearance. So, enjoy!

I thought she was introduced in B&RA #19?...
Anarchy would be another cool character to show up, seeing as he was also only in one issue (TBA #31)...

Well actually the Joker's daughter from Teen Titans turned out to be the real life daughter of Two-Face. She found out RObin's identity, and wanted to join the TT. After that, I quite buying those old issues. And as for who I'd like to see from the comics, I think with a little retooling, the KGBeast could of been a good addition.

Wow Karkull, you sure know your comics well! I was wondering what the deal with Killer Moth was. And you cleared up some confusion I had about Huntress too. Thanks!
Anyways, while I don't know a lot about the guy, I'd have liked to have seen Allergent. From what little I know of the guy, he's this neurotic nerdy guy who's allergic to everything and tried to kill off all of the plant life in Gotham so he could be pollen-free. Needless to say, there was conflict between him and Poison Ivy. And Bats had to try to sort everything out. I liked the idea, probably at least in part because my allergies make me feel that way too sometimes. I should dig up that story in back issues someday so I can actually read it. I've only heard about the story and never read it myself. I did see Allergent in the stories that introduced Lock-Up though.
1000 worthless posts! Woo-hoo!

Ya know they have a different reason for why Batgirl put on the cowl in the animated comics which is similar to the moth guy. Babs go to a masquerade party with the bat costume and then has to stop Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy.

I've never heard of the Allergent, but he would have been a great foe in a Poison Ivy episode. By the way, congratulations on reaching 1000 posts, Joe Tully!

I just wanted to make clear that the Joker's Daughter was actually from the late1970's series of the Teen Titans and NOT the 80's series. I'm just pointing that out because the Marv Wolfman/Goerge Perez series of the 80's was so far superior to the drivel that came from the 70's version. Actually, that series was so far superior to anything DC OR Marvel did at the time, when I look back on it, it's the main reason I ended up becoming more of a DC fan than a Marvel fan. I was just getting in to reading comics (I was about 8, a special time in a young man's life) and that book really holds great sentimental value for me.
As was previously stated, the Joker's Daughter turned out to be Two-Face's daughter. Her real name was Duela Dent (get it? DUEL-a?) and she eventually joined the Titans as "Harlequin." She was never a member of the New Teen Titans even though I think Wolfman and Perez had intentions of re-writing the character as NOT being Two-Face's daughter, but before they could, Crisis came along and wiped her from existance.
As for Killer Moth, I think Karkull is right that the character would have had potential in the hands of Dini & Timm. His ridiculous costume shouldn't have slowed them down, though. It was certainly no worse than Firefly's original comic book outfit. From what I recall, he had a bug-themed mask with rainbow colored tights and a giant "FF" emblem on his chest. And look at the bad ass costume they designed for him in the animated series.

Other than Huntress and KGBeast,I would have also liked to see the following:
Black Lightning
Ragman
Deathstroke the Terminator
The Paul Kirk Manhunter(the one by Archie Goodwin and Walt Simonson)
Dark Knight

I know they kind of applied aspects of his character to Tim, and that they pretty much made it clear that Tim was next after Dick and all but it would be cool to see a Batman Animated movie that takes place B/T BTAS and TNBA detailing the death of Jason Todd. Kinda messes with continuity but they did it with the GLs on Justice league so what the heck.

Anarchy, Deadman, Azrael, Mr. Zsasz, Black Mask, KG Beast
Both Anarchy and Deadman appeared in the animated comic.

I had kind of always wanted to see Deadshot. His costume is pretty cool (if a little too ornate in some parts), and there would have been something cool about Batman going up against someone who didn't rely on "themed" weapons or motives, just a mercenary with two wrist-mounted machine guns.

Bruce Timm and Co. planned to have Black Canary team up with Catwoman but the network nixed it because all the shows had to have Robin. Gotta believe there were others like it...

I don't know too much about this character, but I like his overall design.
TallyMan...
Anyone ever see the NML pinup Rousseau did with the various Heroes/Villians of NML?
That should give you a good idea of how the various characters would look if done in the TNBA style...

BOO-YAH! DEADSHOT, BABY!!!
By the way, that was me who brought up Deadshot. I loved Rosenbaum's performance! Not a bad representation of a character who's real first name is "Floyd."

Here's hoping that we're sharing some psychic energy or whatever, and we'll eventually see the Huntress.

Hmmm. There was that rumor awhile back (fueled by imdb) about Batman's daughter making an appearance in JL.

I'd like to see a [redesigned] Maxima make a comeback. She always struck me as an "evil Wonder Woman."
