I just sent off for the "Complete Uncensored Private Snafu" because I cannot see the Warner Brothers corporation that we've all come to know and love getting themselves into a rush to put the Snafu pictures on a War years DVD set any time soon. Do you agree - or disagree? I love WB's wartime toons, and would love to see them all in a collection together. I don't think that I'm the only one concerned that we won't see many of the black & white classics until the color shorts are almost played out. I'm not complaining about the quality of the shorts that have already been released, but it's easy to spot a trend in the shorts that get chosen. What do ya'll think? I hope WB proves me wrong.

There should definitely be a DVD of Pvt. Snafu cartoons. Great nostalgia for anyone that was a child during the second world war.

The current Snafu DVD is pretty damn good for a public domain company.

I think it would be a great idea... especially since the Disney set was such a big success.

Here's my idea for the set:

Disc 1 - For Civilian Use

Meet John Doughboy
Rookie Revue
Conrad the Sailor
Wacky Blackouts
The Draft Horse
The Ducktators
Ding Dog Daddy
Confusions of a Nutzy Spy
Fifth Column Mouse
Tokio Jokio
Scrap Happy Daffy
Falling Hare
Daffy - The Commando
Brother Brat
Meatless Flyday
Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips
Russian Rhapsody
Plane Daffy
Herr Meets Hare
Draftee Daffy
Bonus: Any Bonds Today

Disc 2 - Declassified

All 26 Snafu cartoons
All 3 Mr. Hook cartoons
A Hitch in Time
90 Day Wandering
Drafty, Isn't It?
Documentary: Looney Tunes Go To War (basically, a collection of clips from 1941-1945 with all the gas card, rations, 4F references, etc)

That set should also include the Mr. Hook shorts as well.

Great idea, I'd buy it for sure.

It would be politically incorrect today because many of the countries depicted were in times of war, are now our allies (I think) in NATO. Besides, didn't MGM have to recall a box set of cartoons due to the fact that "Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips" were on there?

I'd buy the set for sure.

That's true, but if Disney can get away with it, why can't Warner Bros.?

.
Coal Black for sure, but those first two, while they have a war theme, weren't made during WWII.

Coal Black for sure, but those first two, while they have a war theme, weren't made during WWII.I know, but the original post just said "wartime", not which war :p , which means you could technically add in Buddy Of The Legion, Boom Boom, Little Beau Porky, Beau Bosko, etc etc...

I always find it interesting and even somewhat creepy how What Price Porky kind of precedents WWII by so many years, being made in 1937  especially how the army of Daffys still march "goose-style" past the commander duck.

With shorts like The Ducktators, Tokio Jokio, Bugs Bunny Nips The Nips and Coal Black I can say that it'll be a cold day in *bleep* when WB releases a complete wartime DVD set.... on the other hand, there's sight of a Japanese stereotype in Der Fuhrer's Face and that one got a DVD release....
