SUMMER SIZZLER
Aug. 9, 2004
Eugene wants revenge after his mentor, William Regal, was ripped apart by a furious Triple H last week. And he’ll get it tonight: Eugene will team with World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit to face Evolution’s Cerebral Assassin and Randy Orton.
So close to Toronto’s SummerSlam spectacular, it’ll be interesting to see The Crippler get in the ring with the rising star challenging for his title on Aug. 15. It’s a mix of emotion and talent that makes for one hell of a RAW match.
Not to be outdone, two-thirds of SummerSlam’s Intercontinental Championship Triple-Threat Match will square off tonight: Chris Jericho faces Edge in a grudge match brought on by their problems in recent weeks. The animal Batista must be brimming with confidence knowing his two Toronto opponents will soften each other up tonight.
There’s one crucial piece missing from SummerSlam’s “Till Death Do Us Part” match — a contract signing to ensure a commitment to the unusual and binding stipulation involving Lita. All three involved will meet on RAW to ink the deal. Will Matt Hardy and Kane save their energy for Aug. 15, or will the contract signing bring more fireworks?
Be sure to tune in (9/8 CT, Spike TV) to find out which girl from the 250,000 RAW Diva Search Competition is going home — and surely there will be more interesting things in store for the gorgeous Diva hopefuls.

Penguin if what i've heard they're gonna do with Lita is true then how dare you tourture me with her beautiful face!!!!
Speaking of beautiful faces, divalicious divas? Look at Jazz, I think that can be debated. Ten bucks says that on Smackdown they'll announce their own Diva thing
Oh and Orton tapped to the crossface back in May which I watched earlier today so there was existing footage

My thoughts on tonights RAW
The Raw Diva Search Contest - There is no contest because Christy Hemme is the clear winner amongest those who remain. Did you guys see her Ice Cream promo? LOL!!! :D :D :D Maria and Joy are glory seeking bimbo's who couldn't wrestle if their careers depended on it, and Carmella is so meek in front of the camera that she fails to make any kind of impression. The only ones besides Chirsty with any chance of making it in WWE are Amy and Tracy and I'm giving the edge to Amy on that one. Predicted winner: Christy Hemme, Runner Up: Tracy Wright, Eventual WWE Employee/Superstar: Amy Weber, Next Elimination: Carmella DeCesara
Chris Benoit VS Randy Orton - This is going to be an awesome match at SummerSlam and I know Benoit's mic skills aren't the greatest in the world but he didn't need them tonight as his crossface spoke for him. Orton is the future of the WWE, and that's one of the many reasons why I think he'll win the title on Sunday.
Edge VS Jericho - Great match but the ending was weird. It looked like WWE was setting up for a Y2J heel turn but that can't be right since he's only been a face for a few months. I have a feeling Batesta will walk out of Summerslam the IC champ, as it'll allow Jericho and Edge to continue their fued...one that'll hopefully lead them both back into main event status.
The sick and abusive HHH - Eugene is so going to win on Sunday, no way that Vince won't put him over after what HHH has done. Should be a classic hardcore match though.
JR get it right! Stop calling Chris Jericho Chris Benoit in matchs and vis versa!
Till Death Do US Part - Here's what I think'll happen at SummerSlam: Matt Hardy will be on the verge of defeating Kane and Lita will interve and cost her boyfriend the match. Lita finally turns heel and reveals that she and Kane are very much in love. Kane then destroys Matt Hardy much to Lita's glee. If this doesn't happen then Vince should really consider moving Lita to Lamedown or, better yet, firing her for real. She won't be needed once Christy joins the WWE family offically in another month or so. :D

Who's turning heel, Y2J or Edge? Edge has the sinister new facial hair and generally more somber air about him, but Y2J keeps every-man-for-himself-ing him.
Great match, though.
The Diva Search really is starting to drag the show down, but at least they've finally figured out somewhere to go with it (the Summerslam thing).

The Diva Search really is starting to drag the show down, but at least they've finally figured out somewhere to go with it (the Summerslam thing).I honestly hope it's not Jericho. We just got him back on the face side after a good 2 years as a heel. I want to keep face Jericho around for the long-haul. Edge, on the other hand, is one of the most stale faces since Maven. A heel turn would do wonders for him. Especially if it involves Christian. Hmm... SummerSlam is in E&C's hometown this year and Christian is due back from injury... hmmm... (No, I haven't been reading the dirtsheets. Pure speculation.)
Oh, and I concur with Mike. Carmella is one boring waste of air-time. She only draws cheers for the fact that she's a Playmate.

Well...
The big rumor is that Edge will be turning heel any day now due to the reactions he's getting at house shows.

As Much as I hate to say this I almost see that happening. This whole Angle reminds me when Vince was fighting HHH when HHH Married Stephanie in a car and it turned out that Stephanie turned on her father to be with HHH.

Maria and Joy are glory seeking bimbo's who couldn't wrestle if their careers depended on itThat's very probably true, but the one good thing about this contest is that they're not looking for a wrestler. They're looking for someone like Stacy or Torrie. Eye candy, with a few ring apperances, usually including 3 or 4 others who are wrestlers.
WTF was with the two minute challenge? The way it ended made for a complete waste of time, and leaves us without a tag title match for Summerslam. I'm guessing something changes on the pre-show Heat.
I really didn't care about the rest of the show. The Diva Search is less entertaining than a pail of stillborns, and the matches other than Jericho v. Edge were lame.
Jazz is a trannie.
I'm really taking it that many aren't liking the way the diva search is being handled.. I just tried to read a summary of tonight's RAW, and the person didn't have many nice things to say about any portion involving that search.
Anyway, I actually did catch some of RAW tonight, not much though. I'm just throwing this out there, since it looks like Orton has a possibility to win the Title..
Does anyone think that any bad blood WWE has against Brock for leaving, is helping Orton's push.. By that, I mean, he'd become the youngest heavyweight champion in WWE history.. which is a record i think Brock holds. An interesting coincidence.
I'm really afraid of where WWE is going with the whole Lita/Kane/Matt angle.. It can't be good.
And on the divasearch.. I don't really care who wins. As long as she is pretty, and can actually do something in the ring after training.. I'm fine with who they'll choose. Sucker for cute girls.. I am.. :o
Regal really took a beating.. I actually like how the HHH/Eugene thing is going, hopefully they don't stretch it out too much.

Benoit making Orton tap out when he went to show the footage was just great. Funny bit that I wished I had the VCR running for.
Congract signing--- not the normal yawn fest that they always are but surprise.. one person is jumped.
2004 WWE Slu* search continues. Lordy... I am so over reality crap invading every part of TV. What's next? The WWE Low Carb Diet Challenge?
Regal is taking it on the chin for this bit... Not a bad thing because I would love to see him and HHH have a good feud.

My thoughts on Raw
The Kane / Matt Hardy / Lita angle is ridiculous I really hope it ends soon.
Chris Jericho's and Edge's match was good. I'm glad Chris won.
I hate that Rhyno & Tajiri won't get a shot a the tag team belts.
I like how Chris Beniot took on both HHH and Randy Orton in the main event.
As for the Diva Seach they should just hire Amy Weber already and get it over with.
So Trish and the other divas with challenge the diva wannabes to a game of dodgeball at Summer Slam that should be interesting I guess.
The show wasn't that bad but it could have been better.

My notes on RAW:
1. Thank god Randy came in and basically rushed the Diva search.
2. RANDY TAPPED!
3. La-La's are grrrreat heels
4. The first one on the ice cream sell...was...hot!!!!:p :p :p
5. Jericho vs. Edge was the best mid-card match I've seen all year.
6. Eugene's winning at Summerslam due to these promo things (can't I tell?)
7. I think Regal had Ketchup on his face. There was certainly enough time to do that.
8. Flair is da dirtiest playa in da game! I read about 250 pages of the book, and I can say that comfortable
9. Orton's winning at Summerslam. I can tell, he looked too strong tonight on RAW
(and 10). DIVA DODGEBALL! (aka, big waste of time that could turn sexy if Vince can think)

Most likely, it's a way to drop one match from the Summerslam card just so they can have the Diva Dodgeball match.

Do I really do that? My apologies If I do. I admit to the fact that my mouth gets me in trobule and that alot of things I say do not go through the "Shut "Up" filter.
About Lita turning heel, i've been looking around and alot os sites are saying that could happen.

Lita was wearing Kane-themed clothes. Coincidence?
Y'know, it's funny... What if Matt really didn't sign the contract after all his apparent internal turmoil? There goes Kane's plan...

This week's RAW just didn't interest me very much. Hopefully after SummerSlam there'll be more wrestling on the show, because there sure wasn't much this week..
The six Diva tag team match was just bad. Stacy was in the match a lot more than either of her two teammates and that's just not right.
Wow, a contract signing ending in violence. Who saw that coming?
I thought Edge and Jericho put on the best match of the night. It's good to see the Intercontinental Championship be treated as an important title again. The ending managed to catch me slightly by surprise, as I thought for sure that Batista was going to attack both men. Jericho acted slightly heelish by putting his feet on the ropes to pin Edge, but right now Edge seems like the bigger heel right now. After all, when we came back from the commercial break he did have Jericho in a rest hold.
The match of Rhyno and Tajiri versus the two jobbers just made me bad, especially the ending. I just don't understand why a ref would be trying to get rid of two men who aren't interfering in the match rather than counting the pinfall when a title shot is on the line. Hopefully they did this just so there can be more buildup for a future match between Rhyno & Tajiri and La Résistance.
Diva Dodgeball? Well they had to have at least one match involving the women. At least this will be different than seeing another match between Victoria and either Molly or Jazz.
The main event between Orton and Triple H versus Benoit was pretty good. The World Heavyweight Champion got to talk for the second time of the night and looked really strong in this handicap match. The ending was good with The Game giving Benoit the pedigree and then being run out of the ring by a simpleton. It was also interesting to see that Orton becoming the number one contender hasn't caused any problems in Evolution yet.

That pissed me off, I was thinking just let them jump in the ensuing beatdown would have ran out the time and cause a DQ anyway

I figured the tag match would either end in DQ, or Bischoff (who seems to be more of a tweener than a heel, except when it comes to Eugene) would say that R&T get a shot anyway because of the interference. If it really is just a ploy to make room for the Divas, I'm gonna be really annoyed with the WWE.
O/T: I saw this at another message board and didn't wanna bother starting a new thread, but it's quite crazy. They didn't name a source so I dunno where it's from.
Former WWE , WCW and ECW wrestler Perry Saturn will make his wrestling return after suffering a very serious injury this past April. This was a very serious, and private situation, which he did not want public until he was able to recover.
We are proud to announce that he has recovered, and will return to the wrestling ring on Sept 17th for USA Pro (Jamaica, NY @ The Amazura Concert Hall).
In April of 2004 Perry Saturn was driving his girlfriend to work when he heard what he thought was an argument next to a vehicle. When he approached the vehicle, he saw two men trying to restrain a woman as they were raping her. Without hesitation, he grabbed both men off her, and started fighting with them. As he was able to get the woman free from her attackers, he felt a burning sensation in his neck. He thought originally it was a cut stemming from a punch. However, he learned soonafter he was shot three times in the neck with a 25 caliber handgun.
Perry Saturn now has a steel plate and 3 stainless steel screws where his C-5, C-6 and C-7 vertebra in his neck were badly injured. The good news is that after a very tough and extensive amount of physical therapy and training, he is able to return to wrestling. When you think about it, it's amazing he is even alive, or even able to walk!
Unfortunately, we learned that he did not have medical insurance, and has incurred quite a bit of medical expenses. I'm sure if needed, the wrestling community will open up their arms and assist if the expenses become overwhelming.
As far as his attackers, one man was arrested for attempted murder and rape. That case is still ongoing. No word if the other individual was arrested as well.
On behalf of everyone here at Wrestling-News.com and USA Pro Wrestling, we are very proud of your actions, your determination to recover, and your instinct without thought to risk your life like you did.
On the USA Pro Wrestling message board, we have opened a thread for anyone that would like to leave a message or comment for Perry. He will be reading them on the board.
Saturn is great.
Of course you do...ME! :D Vote for Kylewayne as your WWE Diva...NOW! ;)Finally something good coming out of this Diva Search. A reason to vote! *Votes for KW* :p

The ending was good with The Game giving Benoit the pedigree and then being run out of the ring by a simpleton. It was also interesting to see that Orton becoming the number one contender hasn't caused any problems in Evolution yet. I am seriously thinking that.. Orton being #1 contender doesn't bug HHH... but how about Orton as champ? .. Surely Evolution can't be led by someone other than the champ.. I think it would be an interesting way to tear at Evolution.. I wonder what WWE will choose to do.
Saturn is great. After reading that.. I wholeheartedly agree with you. To do what he did, is heroic, and i'm glad to hear that not only did he survive but is cleared to wrestle.. Hopefully people help him out with the medical bills, after doing what he did.. He deserves it no doubt. I hope those guys got a whuppin' from Perry before he got hurt.

Meh, RAW was OK.
-The main event tag match was good, but Edge vs. Jericho surprisingly dragged.
-The Triple H/Regal/Eugene segment was cool, and it made sense.
-Still don't care for the DIVAs contest, but I do want Joy to win because of the booty shake she's been givin' us these last few weeks. >_>
-Carmella seems to be the most popular of the girls though, so I wouldn't be surprised if she wins it.
-Christy is... a little too hyper, and she reminds me of a younger, red-headed Daffney. I'm not sure if that's a good thing yet.
-The whole DIVA Dodgeball thing came out of left field. I originally assumed they wanted to have a bikini contest or somethin', maybe even a match (heh, right). Nevertheless, I'm interested in seeing how WWE will pull it together.

Another "meh" show for me. I did laugh at the opening segment with Benoit and Orton. Y2J/Edge was decent, but it really dragged. The Divasearch ice cream segment did nothing for me, and I'm not particularly happy about the tag title match being moved aside for "Diva Dodgeball" (though I'm fairly certain that Kylewayne would own in that match-up :D )
Trips beats up on Regal again and wrestles with the blood on his hands. It sorta reminded me of when Jerry Lynn wrestled in ECW, in one match with Steve Corino, Jerry busted him open and used his blood to fingerpaint the word "die" on his chest.
Anywho, the handi-cap match was alright, but it seemed to give more build-up for Eugene/HHH than Benoit/Orton.
