Do you guys think Two-Face works better as Batmans ally or Bruce Wayne's best friend?

I really think he works both ways, to be honest, so it doesn't really matter to me. I'd like to see him fulfull both roles in a future origin story, maybe Begins and it's sequel?

I think he needs to be both, because that aspect alone makes him a lot different than most of Batman's other enemies. With him, it's much more personal, just as his dealings are with Joker, Catwoman, Bane, and Ra's al Ghul - they all have very tight personal relationships with Batman (and, sometimes, Bruce as well), which makes them even more dangerous.

In the comics, I don't think Harvey ever was Bruce's "friend" though. I'm pretty sure that was only in the animated series - but it should be in the comics, as far as I see it. But he, Gordon, and Batman were a crime-fighting trio back in the day, so that's an intimate connection, too.

I wondered about that. If Harv was Bruce's friend in the books. I know it seemed like he was Bats' cause of the whole Hush Sl, when he says he saved Bats when he needed him to.

Howdy,

As far as I know, the Bruce Wayne/Harvey Dent frienship was a BTAS thing and not a comic thing. Dent was an early ally of Batman, as seen in the middle bits of Batman Year One, The Long Halloween, and Batman Annual #14 (1990), which is the latest origin of Two-Face that has yet to be contradicted.

I find it interesting that they never really worked with the irony that could result if Bruce was Harvey's daytime friend, and Batman was Harvey's nighttime friend. Regardless, I think Dent works better as an ally of Batman rather than a friend of Bruce.

I agree...but I'd also prefer to see both, because that could still realistically work and not feel so tacked-on. It's not like Bruce and Harv would be best childhood friends or something, but they'd have an amicable relationship and such.

We'll see what BATMAN BEGINS gives us, I guess. Should be interesting.

-TimSadly, unless there have been drastic rewrites, Harvey Dent is not featured in Begins, at all.

True...but I didn't want to say anything to spoil it. However, when I did read the script, his name WAS mentioned, and he IS Rachel Dodson's superior...he is the DA and she's just his assistant after all. So it's still possible he'll pop in for an even smaller role than Billy Dee Williams got in the first movie.

That said, Nolan and Goyer have a great chance to work with the character in the sequels. They purposely didn't want to pick a villain they'd used already in the movies for BATMAN BEGINS, which is exactly why Ra's al Ghul and Scarecrow were chosen - that, and they're deserving of the big-screen treatment.

In all honesty, however, Two-Face hasn't REALLY appeared in the live-action movies yet, either. So in the future, it's fully possible. The next movie is likely Joker-centric, based on the subtle hints in BATMAN BEGINS, but building up a future villain would be terrific. And yes, I hope that Bruce and Harvey are friends, or at least acquaintances in that film. It adds a whole layer of depth to their interactions.

Anyone else upset that Harvey hasn't appeared since the end of "Hush"?
