Somebody really needs to shoot that owl down... it's creeping me out.

So far, Tsume's really changed. He's become what he dreaded at the beginning of the series. That's cool.

So the owl makes his return..

Wait.. so Kiba has been in that plant thing this whole time? .. Whoa.. Does that mean that Caracal is there too? .. Or did his spirit just wander to the same place as hers.. Looks like he's going to get forced to return.. A false paradise it seems like it's gonna turn out to be..

And now we move on to the depressing story. Man I'm getting tired of that owl. Do slinky boy kill grandma, man that's sad. Oh okay,so what Kiba's seeing is all a dream. Well it looks like this the end of Kiba's dreamland. Heh slinky boy didn't get why he wasn't up tight by meting a girl. Heh,drank all of his restore potion. Well this epsoide was okay. Found Kiba.

Bizarre episode from a bizarre (yet oddly captivating) series. Won't that owl ever shut up? Sheesh, talk about annoying. I got a kick out of the talking horse because, well... he's a horse. That talks. :P Overall grade: B

Tonight, Kiba leaves the false paradise to resume the hunt for the "real" one. Myu sure was cute though, even though she was a caracal cat, not a wolf. (What's an anime without a cat-girl, right?) It looked like Toboe was going to quit the pack for the tribe, but the pack bond proved stronger.

Biggest surprise of the night was Tsume who admitted he wanted Paradise as badly as Kiba. And at the end, Quent is rescued because Toboe didn't want him left for dead. That's gotta give Quent some food for thought. Still haven't figured out how that creepy owl fits in, though.

Anyway, Wolf's Rain has kept my interest from the first episode. I just hope AS will get the OVAs that finish this series. (^_*)

Are you crazy? The biggest surprise of the night is easily Toboe's flashback of him killing the owner that he loved so much. It's also kind of funny because he never learned anything from it, since he did the same thing to that girls falcon in his intro episode.

i felt sorry for Toboe with the flashback...really deep episode again. I'm in love with this series, but since it lacks all out action i'm sure too many casual AS viewers hate it. Oh well...deep shows on AS rule.

A decent episode, better then last week's. Toboe leaves for bit, but comes back in a matter of minutes with the other guy to fight off those soldiers. I couldn't help but think of Mr. Ed with the horse, especially once he did his laughter:sweat: . The pack is back together looking for paradise, each being slightly different then when they were togehter the last time, we see Chezza and Blue are okay....sort of, and Quent gets saved in the end, not bad.

I give Consciously a B+.

Erm...Toboe killed an old lady? :( Holy mackerel. I would have been OK with it if that had never come up.

Regarding Mew the kittie girl, I'm not sure how to interpret the manner in which she was presented. Her final line, "We're more different than you realize" or something to that effect, threw me a bit. I had wondered if she were the spirit of such a beast which had fallen victim to the same plant/soul vampire/magic mumbo-jumbo thang and was trapped inside forever in some spiritual way. Now, I wonder if she might have somehow been a depiction of the plant itself, an anthropomorphic...erm, and kittiemorphic...representation of its influence; after all, Kiba didn't seem to really want to leave, and had to be pulled back by annoying chanting. (As a Native American, I am not sure how to feel; cartoons often show them with super powers, but with irritating chants required to trigger them. ) Either way, she seemed sorry about Kiba's departure, and this threw me even more. Does anyone have a more conclusive take on this, or is it just as ambiguous as it seemed?

So...Toboe killed an old lady. :( Also a bird.

Yeah she was feeding him and he knocked her over to lick her face and with his weight he killed her by not allowing her to breathe... It's interesting how different this is from Cowboy Bebop.. being from the same people. Seemed like this little experience brought them closer together.

That flashback Toboe had, was kind of shocking. A little of Kiba seems to be rubbing off on to him. Wow, what luck, I'm glad Tsume and Hige continued to look for Kiba. Come to find out, he was in a land, where time didn't exist, that was close. Good to see everyone back together, and even though it seemed where Kiba was at, was cool at first, it just didn't seem right not seeing everyone traveling together.

I wonder if Quent will ever think of wolve's as something different than being evil, since he knows (but doesn't want to believe) that a wolf helped in saving him from dying.
pretty good episode, for this week. And the art and animation was also well done.

Wow... what an episode. Like you all said, that flashback was... sad. Yay! Blue's alive! I could say that a million times cause that's exactly what I was thinking when I saw that scene. This week's episode was good. The gang is back together and back on there journey.

I think what Myu meant by "We're more different than you think" is that she is dead and Kiba is still alive, though barely. Also, that Kiba still has the will to live deep down, even though he imagines he wants to stay with her. I think it's interesting that he says "We're two different species" as a justification for not being with her. This fact doesn't seem to stop him from wanting to be with Cheza, who is a manufactured flower person. Maybe that has more to do with destiny than anything else. The theme of true freindship and the power it gives each of the characters seems to be getting stronger and stronger as the series progresses. Quent may be the furthest away from this, but who knows. Maybe he'll come around.

Was it that the souls of those people that died still stuck in there?

Well, it is a beautiful universe, don't you think? With the present world on the brink of devastation, this false world really is a Paradise. But it isn't real. For whatever reason, Kiba has to search for the real thing, not get lost in an illusion. The key is to strive for Paradise in the living world, in the now, not in your mind.

And about the whole Toboe killing an old woman thing, she was not just an old woman. She found Toboe when he was a pup outside the gates of the domed city and raised him. She was his "Granny" and he killed her by mistake because he didn't realize his power as a wolf. I think that's what happened to that girl's bird as well. His own struggle with understanding who his is, is pivotal for his character development. I think that goes for all the characters.

It took me a minute or two to realize that Toboe was having a flashback. I thought he killed a NEW owner at the generic native colony, and I don't know if this makes me a bad person, but I wanted to laugh. I mean, what bad luck! But it was a flashback. They should've made that more clear.

All in all, though, this episode showed some character development. Of the WOLVES, the main characters. How 'bout that! I wish they had done something like this a lot sooner, like, say, the fifth episode, because it could've improved the series.

Pretty solid episode. Toboe's inner turmoil about staying with the pack coupled with his flashback was pretty compelling and was the standout portion of the episdoe to me.

I'm glad the little runt came around in the end though. Sad about the old lady. :(

Also, what was the deal with the horse? Have other random animals (aside from that dumb owl) spoken in the series?

Good episode.

Toboe seems to suffer from Lennie Small syndrome, and that talking horse was bizarre. It did drag at the end, something I'm unaccustomed to in this series.

About Mew...I believe she was a caracal that fell victim to the grass, and her body died from a lack of food and water. Her soul is now trapped in the Garden of Eternity for...well, eternity. Mew might have died a long time ago, so her saying that her and Kiba were two different people could be because they lived in different times.

The Paradise is in your mind.

I've been depressed ever since I saw Toboe accidently kill his owner. :(
But the horse... It... talked. *makes a pilot for Horse's Rain*. What's next, a talking... rock?

Yes, Kiba's been trapped inside that plant the whole time. However, I don't think Myu was.

My take: Kiba was in the afterlife, in his version of Heaven. It just so happened that the caracal had the same vision of Heaven herself, and they were allowed to share it together. Her comment about being different was when she realized he was going back to his living body, something she never wanted to do. They had so much in common, but he still had a desire to live.

So, how exactly did Toboe kill the old lady? She said she couldn't breath? Was he stepping on her lung or something? I didn't even know it was possible to kill someone like that...
Have you ever had a really big dog, like a German Shepard, rear up and put both paws on your chest? They'd knock down a light person very easily, and they weigh a lot. A wolf of his size with both paws on your chest would make it a little hard to breathe even if you were healthy. With a weakened older woman like herself... it was just too much. Or, the shock of being knocked down gave her a heart attack, which sometimes makes it feel like you can't breathe.

Wait...you mean they don't have them yet? Well...considering Wolf's Rain's ratings, we're ****ed.No, they don't have episodes 27-30 yet. And I doubt that they'll ever get them, knowing CN.

Not a bad episode, kind of felt like the calm before the storm. Right now we're in a sort of lull period, but hopefully that will end next week. And what's the point of leaving Cheza locked up in a cell? She can't guide anyone to Paradise that way.

Ah ... I had a hunch that Kiba was dreaming or something last week and now, my confusion as to where he was is all cleared up.

Toboe is really sweet and thoughtful for saving Quent, isn't he? I was also abit shocked to learn about the death of his past owner.

The talking horse weirded me out and I just had to laugh when it spoke to Toboe. I also thought it was funny when Toboe imitated the horse's grin near the end of the episode, LOL.

A pretty good episode of Wolf's Rain. There were plenty of surprises, twists. Toboe rejoins them, perhaps with his resolve renewed. Kiba turns out to actually be near the brink of death as that bush he rested under had some paralyzing effects to him, and this whole time he'd been in the Garden of Eternity.. And perhaps the oddest twist, Toboe killed his previous owner, an elderly woman.. Boy that kid sure is too energetic..

It's unfortunate to see the end to Mew/Myu.. She was nice, and was a cute character, too bad she couldn't come back with Kiba to the real world.. It would've been an interesting change of pace. And then we see that guy help out Quent with request from Toboe, but obviously Quent still doesn't like wolves.. Looks like it's been all for naught. And I liked that last scene showing Blue consoling Cheza, looks like I was right about the soldiers taking Blue as well.

"Consciously" gets a B+.

And what's the point of leaving Cheza locked up in a cell? She can't guide anyone to Paradise that way.

I think that's the point. They want to keep her there, to draw the wolves in. Then, they'll either use her to open the way, or try to kill everyone to prevent the end of the world.

I knew Kiba's so-called paradise was just an illusion, otherwise it was too perfect! This episode was again, actually quite emotional. Toboe's accident with his owner, the turn-around of Tsume's attitude, and Toboe's wishes to help Quent even through he still despies wolves added to the heaviness of the plot. It also looks like the wolves are back together again, and the true adventure to find Paradise and Cheza will continue soon.

I give Consciously an A.

BTW, I wonder what Cher and Hubb are up to? I haven't seen them since Darcia's Keep fell...

"Consciously" I'll give a B+. I thought it was a decent episode. Wolf's Rain has kept me...hmm, should i say captivated since the first episode. But I think around the first few episodes there was obviosuly a little more fast paced action. But as for now, I like the unique storyline, the plot and all the little twists and character development that's going on. It's sad that Tobuweh was the one who killed his old lady. That must really hurt. I'm anxious to see the end of the series and then again not so anxious based on what I've heard. But let me not spoil anything. :D Series is great though! :D

after all the tragedy and bad luck the pack has to laugh a little..
three words "shoot the owl!!!"
gets an A for the drama on Toboe's life and how he still trusts humans..
I thought Mew was some kind of soul reaper that takes dieing wolves to a certain type of paradise for dieing creatures..
can't wait for the next one..

Once Kiba's friends find him sleeping under a poisonous plant and pull him out, a Shaman chants a spell to bring back his lost spirit... So Kiba leaves Myu and this little dream to find Cheza and the real paradise.

after all the tragedy and bad luck the pack has to laugh a little..

...
Seriously when I saw that owl again, I was like "WTH?! Someone kill it quick!" I really despise that thing.

Anyway, nice episode. So that was all a dream? It does make sense, it was odd for Kiba to be chasing that plane through a wasteland and stumble upon such a gorgeous view (both the landscape and Myu  ). As for Toboe... For some odd reason I don't feel sorry for him. It is terrible he killed his owner that way. But really, he doesn't learn as he did the same this with that girl's bird back in the city.

Looks like Blue is ok and Cheza as well. But I would think they would treat Cheza better, since she is a living Lunar Flower. Not much sunlight or water in that cell. :(

Owl's back. I wonder, was it actually communicating with Kiba in the GoE or was it just a figment of his imagination? I kinda like it for no real reason.

I don't think Jagura's going to try to use Cheza to get to Paradise. I mean, why would she want to go to Paradise anyway? She's a powerful noble and already has everything she needs. I'd say she's just keeping Cheza alive so she can lure in all remaining wolves and kill 'em off.

I wonder... will the pair of Jagura's soldiers who got paralyzed by the GoE/soul-sucking plant-tree-thing go to the Garden of Eternity too?

Bah. I feel sorry for Mew. I think what she meant about the two different people is somehow connected to what the elder said about the illusion not being enough for Kiba. Mew's fine with the Garden of Eternity, but Kiba won't settle for an illusion of Paradise and wants the real thing. At least, that's my take on it.

"I believe they're servants of the devil." Heh. Not a very tactful thing to say to someone who believes in wolves as the ancestors of mankind.

I bet Eke's restorative potion was more than slightly alcoholic. :p

I wonder what Darcia's up to...

Let's see. Here's where everyone's at:

Blue, Cheza, Hubb, Cher: Prisoners of Jagura

The Wolves: Traveling... presumably to where Jagura is keeping Cheza.

Quent: Wandering around somewhere.

Darcia: MIA

Here I was thinking that Blue was dead, and she shows up in the same cell as Cheza. Boy, that was great to see, and I think they locked Cheza up with Blue to see exactly what her effect is on wolves. It was also good to see how Kiba is when he falls in love. I give this episode an A+ and I do hope they aquire the rest of the series so we can see how it ends.

1. "We're more different than you realize." -- Yeah, one still has a body, the other has none to return to.

2. Were the wolves assuming Kiba had done the deed that Toboe doesn't get (aka "don't do anything I wouldn't do")? Kiba wasn't exactly refuting it neither. Or was Kiba just being a true gentleman doesn't tell? Or being a true man and not wanna get caught two-timing Cheza? :D
