To better serve and protect you, the Toon Zone Witness Relocation Center has been developed so that you can safely change your identity without all the hassle that comes along with it. So, whether you are wanted in 16 states or 6 forums, or you just want to disappear from the radar of a user you don't seem to get along with, the Toon Zone Witness Relocation Center is for you!

Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, the staff at the Toon Zone Witness Relocation Center is able to quickly and safely alter your identity without you having to lose any old posts, old PMs, your profile or anything else. We also provide you a legal option of new user creation, because creating a second user account is punishable by death in 24.8 states.

So, you've been thinking long and hard and finally have decided, that it's time to change your identity. Whether it be to avoid being seen by a material witness, a mob boss, your Ex-wife's pet sheep, or even your third grade teacher who gave you detention because you refused to stop hitting little Suzie (after all, she was being rather bothersome that day... wasn't she?), your identification security will be safe with us, as TZ Witness Relocation Staff will periodically check the thread and issue new identities to those in need.

The staff of the TZ Witness Relocation Center has come up with some ground rules to make sure that your identity stays safe.

First
Your new name can not be shorter than 3 characters or longer than 15 characters. You may see some floating around that are currently longer than 15 characters, but as Big Tony said before he was sent to swim with the Fishes, those names were created back in the good ol' days...

Second
You can not choose a name that is identical/similar to another existing user. We understand that the best way to avoid your persuers is to become someone else... but we do not recommend you become an existing person. The person who had that name first won't like that.

Third
You can not choose the name of a real person that someone may mistake you for. You are in hiding, so why would you want to call attention to yourself with an identity like Tom Hanks or Bruce Timm or Bubba the Love Sponge. Unless you happen to be one, in which case we'll need 15 forms of identification (including blood tests, birth certificate and driver's license) and a portion of your salary.

Fourth
I) Existing Users - You can only change your identity once within a 6 month period. We know you want to confuse those who are after you, but if you want to change your name often we won't even be able to keep track of you, and for your own personal safety that could be rather dangerous.
II) New Users - New Users have the option of changing their name within their first 3 months as a member. To give you an opportunity to determine whether or not you feel the name fits you and your posting style. Once the 3 months have elapsed, you're on the 6 month plan, just like everyone else. If you've decided to change your name, you have 6 months from that name change, otherwise you can change it at the normal 6 month point, should you decide you want to.

Fifth
Some people may wish to know what has happened to you. It is recommended that you make a note of your previous User Name in either your title or your signature. Something like "Formerly Grandmaster B" will help your allies recognize you. If you are worried about being found out, if you receive any incriminating messages from those who we are protecting you from, just tell them that you really aren't that person you were asked to help throw you off the trail and to please not kill you.

The simplest way to do that is for people to actually say in there request what their old name is.

That way people could search this thread to see who did what.
Unless it's written in a post somewhere, there's no telling what the old name was because it's changed everywhere.

Actually, if you go through the old thread, you'll see it was down two different ways... the way you listed above (which is sometimes done for laziness's sake) or, as you suggested...

"Bubba The Love Sponge" is now "Goober or Raisinettes"

For the most part, it really depends on who is making the name changes. I'll have to admit, I've used both methods (as is evidenced in the prior thread). But, if you read completely through the rules, #5 strongly recommends you place who you formerly were in your account somewhere. We can't control whether they do or not, but we're not their mothers and can't force people to really do anything.

However, for record keeping purposes, we, the staff, do know all previous identities as well as when names were changed... :)

nope. having changed my name five times, i can tell you that you get no notification at all. basically, if you attempt to log in and it tells you that your name or password is incorrect, try the new name and you'll get in. otherwise, if you don't log out after each session, the next time you check out toon zone, your name will be different

It's just regular ol', boring, run of the mill recordkeeping that must be done. And if you had even bothered to look at the thread instead of just jumping to conclusions about the fact that your name hadn't been changed yet, you would have seen that I was going down the list in order of the people who had asked for them. As you were the last person to ask, you will be the last person to be processed. We've had some people waiting patiently for a month for me to change their name, there's no reason why someone who asked yesterday should take priority over them. Heck, if I was feeling extremely vindictive, I'd make you wait a month like everyone else did!

It's just regular ol', boring, run of the mill recordkeeping that must be done. And if you had even bothered to look at the thread instead of just jumping to conclusions about the fact that your name hadn't been changed yet, you would have seen that I was going down the list in order of the people who had asked for them. As you were the last person to ask, you will be the last person to be processed. We've had some people waiting patiently for a month for me to change their name, there's no reason why someone who asked yesterday should take priority over them. Heck, if I was feeling extremely vindictive, I'd make you wait a month like everyone else did!

yes, colin is very busy. changing people's names takes a bit of time to do just one name, so it isn't like he can change somebody's name in between his daily objectives. as for the 2-6 weeks thing, i think it's actually been a bit longer than that for some of the current requests :sweat:

When I first started in forums, I didn't think I'd be around long. Since I'm still lurking about, I've started a quest to make my screenname more offficial by enhancing the k to a K to have more impact and stage presence. I believe a capital will have people saying "there must be a profound and wise poster".
