I know that we already have a two month old thread on this game already, but I've decided to start a new one, since I've got information for the games that will be in this compilation.

Anyway, I first heard this information from the Gamefaqs message boards and it seems to be very reliable. Unfortunately, this collection WILL NOT contain Sonic CD like many people were hoping for, but it still has some cool games that are worth playing. According to the links that I've posted above, the PS2 version of the Sonic collection will contain all the games that were in the Gamecube version, along with The Ooze, Comix Zone, and six Sonic Game Gear games. To see more information on this game, along with the picture for this game's case, take a look at the links that I've posted above.

Note- To see the information for this game on Magic Box's website, just click on Gaming News and you should see the information for Sonic Mega Collection Plus somewhere in the headlines for August 4, 2004.

And, as I've said earlier in another thread, this game is going to look great next to my copies of Namco Museum and Mega Man Anniversary Collection, which I also own for PS2!!!

Well I ain't buying it now, why all the game gear games are on SADX, and I could care less about some of the other games

I personally don't think it's worth it really all the Gamecube games, 6 GG games as opposed to all 12 on Sonic Adventure DX. And some games I really could give a damn about.

Thats BOGUS. Comix Zone was taken out of the USA GC version... grrrrrr.

For $20 I'd consider getting it just for the Game Gear games--but I'm sure Sonic DX on Cube will drop to $20 eventually (or has it already?) so I could just get that many more...

Though, really--I only bought that Sonic Collection on Cube for Sonic 2. If just for the first few levels--it truly was my favorite of the four...

It already has. It's a Player'sChoice

Could someone post the list, I can't seem to see it listed in either of the links.

Sonic 3D Blast
Sonic Spinball
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine

Unlockable Sega Genesis games:
The Ooze

Six hidden Game Gear games:
Sonic the Hedgehog

If anybody's interested, IGN's PS2 website now has screenshoots of this game along with the information that I've given out above. Here's the link.

EDIT: It appears that the link that I've posted doesn't work, so if you want to see the screenshots of this game, you will have to go to IGN's PS2 site to see them.

Comix Zone is on Mega Collection for GCN. you just need to unlock it.

So is "The Ooze"--but in the Japanese versions only. So that's not helping the US gamers any...

I never bought the collection for Gamecube so I will pick it up for PS2. I guess I will have to rely on my old faithful copy of Sonic CD until Sega decides to port it.

Comix Zone isn't worth double dipping. I'm just fine with the GCN version and having all 12 Game Gear games on SADX. I'm glad Sonic CD isn't on there because that WOULD force me to double dip.

I would have considered buying it if it had Sonic CD. But seeing has Sonic Adventure DX has all the Game Gear games (which, by the way, most of them aren't that great) I have no intrest in getting the "plus" version now.

As for the "The Ooze" and "Comix Zone." I could care less. Hell, I don't even know what those games are about. But I doubt it's worth buying a game I already have for GameCube again.

Does it contain Sonic 1,2,3,3D Blast and Sonic & Knuckles as well?

^But there also on the Gamecube version

So if you have that version stick with that. Or if you have a Genesis just play the original Genesis version

Is sega was not gonna include anything special why borther making a useless port that won`t sell? Unless this was sammy`s idea?

Yeah, it really is pointless to release this "Sonic Mega Collection Plus." Most Sonic fans already have a GameCube and most likely already have "Sonic Mega Collection" and "Sonic Adventure DX."

I guess Sega just wants to see if they can make a few bucks off it.

HOW DID YOU PEOPLE UNLOCK ALL TWELVE GAME GEAR GAMES IN SADX???

Is there finally a hack code for that? There's no way any of you actually bothered to do all the garbage in that game.

See, this is what Nintendo needs to do when it comes to classic game collections. I like Nintendo classic games, but not enough to pay $20 a pop for a single game. I mean, throw me a freakin' bone here. Why can't we have more BIG collections of classic games? I mean, okay, Sega's rehashing a few things, here, but at least it's more of an effort than I see other companies making.

Regardless, I'm rather surprised they didn't put Triple Trouble on this one. (Best Game Gear game evah.) But I guess it's already on SADX. So...

/wishes he had a Gamecube.

got Zelda collection for $10 w/o doing anything extra, yay=me

I'm probably going to get this version, it's only 20 bucks instead of 40 with both Sonic GC games. I don't really like SA2, I didn't like it for DC so I'm probably not going to get the Cube version. However This shall do well with Streetfighter Collection and Megaman Collection. I mean Capcom is releasing them for a mere 30 bucks, so I'm certainly fond of these cheap sets.

Besides it's not like those sonic games are hard to do everything 100% so even if an X-Box version is made I'd pay another 20 just for Sonic CD if or when they ever put it on another version. I would have just liked Sonic, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic CD, Knuckles Caotix. And another set would include those Gamegear games, Sonic 3d Blast, Sonic Spinball, Sonic R, and both DC games...

or somthing like that....

So a choice now, X-Box version or PS2 Version

Considering my brother barely uses his X-Box I might begin to get more X-Box games for myself, then one by one my collection will outnumber his measily 10 games(Halo is the only good one, he's got a load of crap for the rest) and then the Box will be assimilated into my collection...just like the dreamcast before it...

Since I never actually picked this up for the GCN, I believe I might (The Ooze? Awesome). Might as well grab the Retrocon as well, for an old school feel (though, it will be odd playing Sonic with a faux-NES pad... hell, I've played an Atari 2600 with a Genesis pad before...).

I don't have a GC so I may pick this up for PS2 anyhow. Boo to Sega for no Sonic CD!

Its just not the same as Sonic on Nintendo.

Also, why do the menus have so many pictures of Shadow, even though he was never in the Sonic games before Adventure 2?

Also, you better hope they fixed the emulation on the PS2 version. People reported that control response was horribly off.

Behonkiss
08-21-2004, 10:12 PM
I'm betting that the PS2 will have better control, since the D-pad is more comfortable on its controller.

As for Shadow, he's there because fanboys love him, simple as that.

Well, I haven't unlocked all of them but I've unlocked most. I've unlocked Sonic 1, Sonic Drift, Sonic Spinball, Sonic Chaos and Sonic Labyrinth. I really don't care to unlock them all... so far they all suck.

Chad Bonin
08-22-2004, 09:10 PM
Well, with the preorder today, I'll be playing this with my Ken Street Fighter Anniversary Controller.

Hence why I don't mind playing OG on the PS2 anymore. Sure, the PS2 controller sucks... but when you get a replica of the Sega Saturn pad... playing this will seem decidedly Sega-esque.

I went through the game in 19 hours straight, all missions and emblems (including Metal Sonic's) gotten, AND all GG games of course.

It wasn't taken out, Sonic Mega Collection was released in the USA before Japan (so Comix Zone was added to the Japanese version).

You played as Big the Cat, didn't mind, and won in no time? And raised every Chao?I liked playing as Big. And for the Chao, no, I just imported my sexay Hero Chao from my Sonic Adventure 2 Battle save file, L99 in everything :D

In fact, if you want to know the truth of it, getting through Metal Sonic's emblems took longer than anything else.
