Wow.

Who caught the series premiere for, no doubt, the best show of the season. I was glued to my seat the entire time. The misdireciton, the cliffhangers, the unresolved plots, the secrets....man it just all works. I found no fault in this show. Even the split scenes were used very effectively.

Who else watched this show?

I was watching Smallville. Tuesday night just has way too many good shows on at that time slot! Anybody even watching Roswell anymore?

I missed it only cuz I cant record 2 shows at once. But I will definitely be watching it when they rerun it on Friday. Of course, I don't know what I'm going to do if they stop rerunning episodes.

So they are rerunning 24 on Friday, too? Great, I will catch it then.

Missed it, haven't seen Smallville yet, and haven't been watching Dark Angel either (it's gotten pretty bad. Why'd they have to go and mess it up?!?!?) Mostly working, no time for fun :(

If that's the case, I'll see it then too. DG, what's the basis for the title 24? I've seen commercials for the show, but haven't caught the premise.

The entire season takes place in just 24 hours. Within those 24 hours, an assassination attempt will be made on a presidential candidates life. Keifer Sutherland's character has to find out who it is, and stop it. There's a lot more to it than that, too. ALOT more...

I saw it, and I agree 100%. This show looks totally awesome. The first episode was mostly all set up for the rest of the season, but it looks VERY promising, and I know I'll be watching again next week. It's a very original idea, and hopefully it'll stay on the air.

Okay, i just finished watching it, and it rocks! There wasn't much action, but the suspense was thrilling! I can't wait until next week!

they will rerun the first episode on friday, but they are going to make regular reruns on the FX channel. i was watching the older buffy shows on FX and they showed a commercial saying that they were going to air 24. i don't remember when they are going to start showing it, so now you don't have choose which show to record/watch on tuesday at 9pm.

Thankfully, my cable provider recently added FX to their line up. Now I won't have to worry about missing this new show! It will be the best of both worlds!

The first episode has set up everything - I am am definatly in here for the long hall. The show drew in really good ratings for FOX so hopefully they will stick it out. I'll be very POed if they drop it half way through if it doesn't perform.

What if it does do well? Will they bring it back next season? 24: Day 2?

James Harvey

I'm sure theyll swicth around the premise, or they may just focus on various incidients like they one they're dealing with in this season. I can see this being a long lasting show, a replacement for X-FILES.

Also the show is shown in real time so every episode is exactly 1 hour so there will be 24 episode in the season I have never seen a show shot in real time its awsomeI definitly will be watching this every week or tape it and watch Smallville and vice versa

Actually each episode is about 40-45 minutes, but who's splitting hairs? :)

I've only seen one other show done in real time, and that's a couple episodes of MASH. I am thinking of three right now, and each episode they did in real time had a clock ticking on the bottom of the screen. Other than that, nobody has really taken advantage of that kind of experimental story telling. It must be a real challenge in a show like 24 to not get alot of continuity goofs since you're filming an entire season to take place in one day. I take it alot of the same sets and same clothing will be used over and over for each episode. Keeping it together so it all flows together smoothly must be a nerve wracking job.

The show definitely sounds great. Hopefully I can catch an episode sometime to see what it's like.

I think I remember an episode of the X-Files being shot in real time. Just one, though. That's an interesting way to shoot the show. And it sounds like the writing is excellent too.

I'm kind of afraid to watch 24, because I know I'm going to like it, and I'm pretty dang sure it's going to be better written than Smallville, but at the same time I don't want to quit on Smallville. Obviously, it would make it a lot easier if WB werent such idiots and moved Smallville to Mondays after Angel. That makes so much sense.

i think there was a johnny depp movie that the premise of "real time." it had to do with the president being assassinated or something to that effect although i don't remember the title of the movie.

That's great. So what day will FX be showing it? Hopefully on weekends, because otherwise I won't be seeing it. I just say 24 about half an hour ago. Definitely great. Great premise, and an even greater presentation. Now if they can just show it on the weekend.

The Johnny Depp movie was called NICK OF TIME. It was good. It starred Depp and Christopher Walken - who would later reteam for SLEEPY HOLLOW.

As for 24 - great show. I watched the re-airing of it tonight to see anything I missed. The whole pilot is about mis-direction, and that will play through out the entire season.

Great show! I was really impressed by the complexity but at the same time, you know exactly where everyone and everything is. The multiple camera views were very cool as well. Time just flew by! I also liked how they had the little countdown even in between commercials. It's hard to get used to thinking that all this is in real time. And like you said DG, misdirection was all over the place. I'm starting to think it's who you least, least expect, which could end up in a bombshell ending. I'm already hoping they'll release the season on DVD! I'm pretty sure they will, as long as it does well, Fox seems pretty good about doing that with their shows.

Now as for the Smallville/24 dilemma, looks like I'll have to try to figure someting out.

I believe they said on Sunday and Monday. I'm not exactly sure about the exact time though.

I'm glad you liked the show! I'm trying to turn this show onto as many people as possible! I would definatly like to see this show continue for a long, long time. FOX has an excellent show - which is a rarity for them. The show is definatly in the top 5 for the season's best.

I didn't find the show that misdirecting and it was kind of a dissapointment, it picked up in the last quarter or so.

The whole thing was the assasin was very predictable in my opinion, I knew after only a couple minutes who it was.

Well, what makes the show is that all 24 episodes will take place within a 24-hour time frame. After the first ep, we've literally seen only 1/24 of the story. I wouldn't say there's any predictability, since we're going to have to see the entire season before we reach the conclusion.

In terms of pure story, we're not talking great originality. But the format is a killer one. One episode = one hour story time. That's pretty incredible if you think about it. That completely changes the approach and the way in which we'll be seeing the story unfold.

I personally haven't seen the impact of the whole real time thing all that much, it really didn't seem to have a sense of happening in real time...I sure as it goes on in the broader scope it will though, it'll be night so see it go to daylight and then back to night.

I love the split screen boxes though.

Yeah, i thought it was the woman too. The photographer was way too much of a red herring.

But there's one thing i can't figure out: why did she blow up the plane? Does anyone know, or will we have to wait for future episodes to enlighten us?
