wow, smallville gets more and more sci-fiesc as it goes on. im not complaining or anything. i thought tonights episode was very good and next week's looks like it could have been played on halloween. i am liking the direction they are taking this show. character development is moving along pretty well. its great to see clark dealing with his "new found" powers.

I think the sci fi edge is apporpriate considering the alien origins of the main character. And I liked the direction that this recent episode took, especially with the further developments in Lex's character and his quest to find out exactly how he survived that crash.
The only thing I thought was LAME, one moment Lana is awake and trying to get out of that tomb, but she is conveniently unconscience when Clark saves her. And doesn't she realize CLARK saved her? She's throwing herself all over that jerk of a boyfriend after Clark saves her life. Oh, well.

That's really making me pissed off. How many times has he saved her, or helped her? Gave her the best of advice? I want to know who she thinks gave her that necklace.

What annoyed me most was how the shapeshifter kept shifting near crowds and stuff. At the store she was in front of the door when she changed. When she got the jacket from Whitney she didnt even turn around when she shifted, all Whitney had to do was stop and turn around himself. Pretty sloppy if you ask me.

--the writers know their science/chemistry. I'm impressed. There is a radioactive isotope called strontium-90 that is known to get into the milk of cows that are exposed to fallout. If the milk is consumed, since calcium and strontium are close on the periodic table (and atoms of similar structure can often be exchanged for one another), Sn-90 absorbs into the bones, leaching them and poisoning the victim. Lana's friend suffered a bone disease at birth, but when kryptonite radiation infused her bones, it enhanced her. So I imagine if kryptonite could be classified on the peroidic table, it'd be near Ca and Sn.
At any rate, very scientific-minded...though it doesn't explain (a) how the lass could mimic voices as well as faces and (b)why Lana didn't ask about how Clark broke an iron gate and shattered a stone slab with his bare fists. Now adrenaline can do some goldarn amazing things, but....
And what was that whole thing with Lex and the tabloid jackal? What skeleton of his boyhood was he referencing that had ol' chromedome so shaken?

There are ALOT of questions people could be asking Clark each week. How is he ripping off all these car doors? How is he able to survive being thrown ten yards into a wall? How was he able to jump over all those foot ball players? Either the writers are lazy, or the people of Smallville have powers themselves and figure it's best to just leave it alone, or perhaps they see strange things quite often since the "fallout" so they think little of it. If it's the latter, Clark shouldn't be so troubled about having to keep his powers a secret.
Lex is catching on, yes, but why is a twenty something kid catching on but not any of the police force or other citizens of Smallville?

Well, at least Smallville has a police force, unlike in Sunnydale.

Oh, it's the city where Buffy takes place, where with all the crime, inexplicably, you'll never see a cop around.
