How many different, named cat cartoon characters can you think of? You can't count different versions of the same character (like Sylvester and Baby Sylvester :P) and you can't count unnamed characters (like the cat on "Early To Bet"):

Felix the Cat
Krazy Kat
Beans the Cat
Little Kitty (Porky's "daughter" in Gold Diggers of '49)
Claude the Cat
Sylvester
Sylvester Jr.
Pussyfoot
Pete Puma
Cool Cat
Tom (from Tom & Jerry) and his girlfriend
Heathcliff (was he ever animated?)
Top Cat
Garfield
Fritz the Cat
Tigger (from Winnie the Pooh)
Simba, the Lion King (and all his relatives)
Puss in Boots (from Shrek 2)
Tony the Tiger (Frosted Flakes mascot)
Chester Cheetah (Cheetos mascot)

I know there was some Sabre-tooth in Ice Age and a cat in Finding Nemo, but I don't know either name.

My favourite out of all of these is Sylvester....what's yours?

Regards,
Jeff

Heathcliff (was he ever animated?)

Yes indeed. He had his own Saturday Morning cartoon back in the '80's. The now late great Mel Blanc even provided his voice.

Leave us not forget that Sylvester was called "Thomas" in his first pairing with Tweety in "Tweetie Pie", & wasn't one of Warner Brothers lions called "Nero".

Leave us not forget that Sylvester was called "Thomas" in his first pairing with Tweety in "Tweetie Pie"
As well as in "A Hick, A Slick And A Chick" when he is called Herman.

Other cats,

Tex Avery's black cat (used in "King Size Canary", "The Cuckoo Clock" and others)
Sylvester's many friends in "Kitty Kornered", "Doggone Cats", etc
Sylvester's mangy rival in "Putty Tat Trouble" and "Tweet And Sour"
The lion in "Slap Happy Lion"

Hector (and I think that it was Mungo, but I'm not sure of the spelling, so it could have been Mongo)

A relatively forgotten cat who probably never made an animated appearance was Frieda's cat Farron from Peanuts. He didn't do much, just reclined in Frieda's arms (Frieda was the girl with "Naturally curly hair" in A Charlie Brown Christmas, and she herself is almost as obscure as her cat...)
