Despite unexpectedly low sales Ubisoft do not plan on letting Beyond Good and Evil fade away and have announced there will be another two games.
In a recent interview Ubisoft confirmed that there will be another two Beyond Good & Evil games, making the series into a trilogy.
Apparently the ending for the first game was left rather ambiguous because they had planned on carrying on the story, good news for all Beyond Good & Evil fans

Now I have a reason to beat BG&E 1!

The first one was so easy. Hopefully, these next to will be harder to beat. I am actually pretty excited. BGE wasn't too bad of a game. I just wish there was some news on if there will be a Shenmue 3.

*cheers*
Despite the middle part being rather sucky due to the repetitive stealth parts, BG&E's beginning and end segments were wonderful. If the sequels can keep the quality going, I'm thrilled.
But I guess this means Michel Ancel is pretty much done with Rayman....

The quote was taken out of context and misreported. It translates to:
Why is the ending so abrupt?
MA: I'm rather satisfied with the ending. We wanted the ending to surprise: The ending shows existantial fears like emptiness and death. BGE is the first episode of a trilogy. I didn't want a concrete ending, but rather an abstract ending.
Just because it was intended to be part of a trilogy doesn't mean a trilogy is forthcoming.

I hope its as much fun as the first one. What if Ubi-Soft would make the other games have a jak2 type of makeover?
The first game was just like everyother platformer. It was easy like every platformer is and short. I hope they stick by that formula if that even is one

"BGE is the first episode of a trilogy."
If a trilogy is forthcoming I would think he would say "BGE was supposed to be the first episode of a trilogy."
But that's just me.

Not gonna get too excited about it till UbiSoft confirms it...but I just finished the first one for a second time and hot damn am I excited. So many awesome things about that game. I didn't care if it was easy, it was just a ton of fun to play (it being easy may be why I liked it so much--frusteration really sucks the fun out of something really quick).
Although I'm really doubtful that these will happen. The sales for it were not only horrible, but the games price didn't even stay at $50 for 3 months.
If it is a trilogy, my money's on it not being multi-console again.

I hope its as much fun as the first one. What if Ubi-Soft would make the other games have a jak2 type of makeover? Then I think I'd lose a little respect for them.
They gave in with Prince of Persia 2, there'll be blood and decapitations everywhere. Score one for the mainstream. I'd rather them not do the same to BG&E.

f a trilogy is forthcoming I would think he would say "BGE was supposed to be the first episode of a trilogy."
But that's just me.
Maybe he's hopeful a trilogy will emerge one day. Maybe the tense owes something to the translation. I dunno. But he doesn't say "UbiSoft is producing a sequel", and any website that somehow gleans that from that quote is making a huge logical leap.
I do hope it pans out, though. I really enjoyed the first one.

Whichever version sold better--and that was probably the PS2 version.
Or they could opt for XBOX, since it's got the most going for it in the graphics/audio department.

From Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/07/30/news_6103854.html):
RUMOR #4: Ubisoft is making two more Beyond and Good and Evil games.
Source: The devout flock of Mario worshippers at GameCube Europe (http://www.cube-europe.com/news.php?nid=6795).
The official story: "No comment." --Ubisoft rep.
What we heard: When Beyond Good and Evil was released last year, it got solid reviews, but was discounted to just $19.99 within months due to disappointing sales. So when GameCube Europe reported that "Ubisoft does not plan on letting Beyond Good and Evil fade away and has announced there will be another two games," many reacted with skepticism. Rightly so, as it turns out. Though GameCube Europe story makes it sound like it was taken from an official Ubisoft statement, it lists a Q&A with BG&E designer Michel Ancel on the French site OteraGame (http://www.oteragame.fr/dossier.php?dossier_id=15) as its source. In said Q&A, Ancel discussed the abruptness of BG&E's ending, saying it was because the game was "the first episode of a trilogy." He made no mention of any concrete plans to make a sequel to the game, let alone two. Any further ambiguity was dispelled by informed sources who told GameSpot that no BG&E games are currently in Ubisoft's pipeline. "Sounds like wishful thinking on the fans' part," they said.
Bogus or not bogus?: C'est bogus.
