That's odd - I thought CN didn't get the rights to all the episodes, according to COMICS CONTINUUM, but it looks like they were wrong as usual. I guess CN got the rights to all the episodes! EXCELLENT!

Yet another reason CN is so much cooler than KWB.

Was there ever a doubt CN wasn't cooler. I'm really glad CN is just taking the initiative with this. Playing episodes in order and giving them special airings in format. I'd love to see some of the BB eps in widescreen...

I know that this has been talked about before, but I may have missed the final resolution to the discussion.
Are there any BB episodes that would be available in widescreen? They are all made for TV, right? I know that some people were speculating that CN might just put black bars on the top and bottom of the screen to make a show "look" like it was in widescreen, but that's not really presenting the final piece in its true and intended form in my opinion.
If some of (or all) of the JL episodes were produced in a wider format that's one thing, but as far as I know, BTAS, STAS and BB only exist in standard TV dimensions.
Again, I know that this has probably been put to bed once already, but could someone take pity and enlighten me?
Thanks,
Toddman

The final season, and I think the second half of season two, were storyboards in widescreen. This means that even if CN did place "black space" in the screen, nothing would be cut out. I've seen som eof the storyboards and nothing would be cut out except some background.

That's pretty cool! Thanks DG. They should do that with all animated shows. Heck, I guess with the increasing availability of HDTV, DVD and other formats, maybe they all ARE.

Finally. I just hope they show the right opening, not the new one. I mean I like the new one more, but it's the principal of the matter.

As if Comics Continuum is the most reliable soruce for news.....
I am with the other upset posters on this board. I agree that KWB should have aired it. Tho I get both, and am fine with it on CN, it's just wrong that they totally screwed the fans in not airing it at all.

But Kids'WB! is good with screwing over fans. We already know that. We learned that the hard way!
I'm just glad that we'll get to see the episode. Who knows what would've happeend to it in KWB's hands...

who gives a rats butts who airs it? just as long as it IS...
After KWB didn't air it back in May, I got a slight feeling I wouldn't be seeing it for a LONG while. I hate KWB...I do..I honestly do..nothing intrigues me about it anymore...
and don't worry Axm and optimal..you know how many people are gonna have that episode converted to .avi format and online within days of it's airing? Heck..maybe there would be a way Worlds Finest could offer it as a exclusive....*shrugs*

I remember hearing a lot of upset Bat fans about this episode on this board awhile back...but whats the episode about? Ok well I can take a guess with the title but, why is everyone so hyped up about this? Sorry that I don't know, its just before I never really did like BB as much until CN started airing it, so that is why I'm a little unclear on some BB issues :)

you know what I hate more than KWB? People who watch and enjoy it ehhk! thanks to them we now have the extremly loosely based X-Men evolution which BTW sucks 9sorry if you like it but it killed my hopes of a new XMEN TAS caliber show) kiddy kiddy kiddy, you know who else sucks now? Nickelodian, I mean they used to have cool stuff like rocko and Ren and Stimpy but now all they got is rugrats and some other toddler shows, hehe and they wonder why CN stole so much of their audiance...pathetic, i think most channels are starting to slip in quality....

Probably the people who don't get Cartoon Network. It should have been aired on the network where it started. Like I said, I get both, so I will see it either way, but I still think it's wrong KWB never did air it.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!
Unmasked airs on my birthday!!!!!!! what a nice present!
plus, this will be something to hold us over since, if i remember the JL episode air dates, they'll be repeating the 3 part pilot episodes around that time, so no new JL, but new BB!!! sweet!

well even though its the last bb ep, it wasnt written to end the series or anything like that, it just like any other episode. but we are all just aching for new bat cartoons, so since this is the last new ep unaired, and has been delayed, we're just very excited about it.
actually, i read rampage's review and wasnt all that impressed w/ the ep. it sounds good, but nothing too special. but ill take any new bb/btas/tnba/stas i can get. i'll be sure to tape this ep, and then i'll only be missing "once burned" and "sentries of the last cosmos" in my bb collection!!!!!

It wasn't produced as a last episode, but as the final episode for the season. I am hoping that even tho we didn't get a new season that we will get to see some of the loose threads tied up in a direct to video movie

Of course, I may have to set the VCR, there is the distinct possibility I'll be line getting tickets for The Fellowship of the Ring that day...

It'd be great if this episode sparked one more direct to video movie. The chances are slimmer than Kate Moss standing sideways, but there seems to be a nice glimmer of hope...

I seriously dobut this would be the last time we saw Terry as Batman. The fan interest in this show will keep it alive, and Warner Brothers would be foolish not to do something with the character.

If CN advertsies this episode proerly, it could be a major draw for the network. If it pulled in KWB-like numbers, who knows where it could lead.
Calhoun07
11-07-2001, 11:30 AM
If it pulls in KWB like numbers, that would be very impressive, seeing that CN is in fewer homes than KWB. If it got KWB like numbers, I wonder how big the audience for the finale would have been on KWB!

December is a good month for television. NBC is rerunning "Noel." CN is running "Unmasked." Very good indeed.

I'd like to see CN take advantage of this. They have the only unaired episode of BATMAN BEYOND on their hands. It'd be nice if they advertised the hell out of it.
Hollywood53
11-08-2001, 12:25 PM
KWB was supposed to air unmasked, but even if they did air it, many people still would have gotten screwed, because on nonstop news coverage by *cough*wb11*cough*wb20*cough*
This is just like when KWB left 2 Freakazoid episodes unaired, and CN aired them, but with little or no advertising (or did they have more advertising?) If CN doesn't advertise unmasked, they will be no better off than WB just airing the episode(which would have been the ONLY time this year the BB was scheduled to air on a Friday afternoon on KWB).
So they terrorists are to blame for this(KWB should take some of the blame as well).
The Mad Hatter
11-08-2001, 09:19 PM
Nope, KWB takes all the blame. True, the attacks pre-empted the scheduled time they had, but the network should have shown it MUCH earlier, with the rest of the season. They had no reason to delay it to September at all.
Calhoun07
11-09-2001, 10:47 AM
If I remember right, it was supposed to be on back in MAY! Ya, KWB really failed the fans...again!
James Harvey
11-10-2001, 02:42 AM
KWB all the way. KWB had this episode the whole time and put it off. Then they were gonna pull an STAS and have the new episode kick off a season of repeats. Then a few weeks before the new schedule kicked it, it was revealed that KWB dropped the weekday mornings, dropping Beyond for this season. KWB had literally hundreds of times to air it, yet kept putting it off. KWB is completely to blame for the lack of UNMASKED. 100% completely.

11-10-2001, 09:53 AM
Yeah, KidsWB has made us all furious, cancelling or ending all the animated Batman and Superman shows we love, putting off the remaining episodes of those shows ti'll the end of time, and now because of their foolish descision, they will never pull in the big ratings they could have had by airing Unmasked. Well, that's their loss. Now CN will score th big ratings! I just hope CN doesn't pull another last minute shedule change because of the content of the episode or whatever. That is my biggest concern.
See ya!

James Harvey

CN will hopefully air it. They've messe dup a couple times by pre-emtping a couple episodes, but hopefully they will get back on track with this one. I'm eager to see the episode as are many, many, many other fans.

Fox Kids also did the same thing with the 1995-1996 season of Batman and Robin, 5 new episodes kicked off a season of repeats.
