I think a music discussion board is long over due. Like, way way over due.
I asked for a music baord about 2 years ago, and the responce then was that the forums couldn't handle another board. However since then, I've seen like three or four made. So really what would one more board do?
If the problem is that there is no one left to man said board, I'd be willing to do what I can. If the problem lies somewhere else, I'd atleast like to know what that problem is.

Aside from referring to EVERY OTHER POST ON THIS BOARD REGARDING WHY WE DON'T HAVE A MUSIC FORUM HERE AT TOON ZONE
Let's take a little field trip... this field trip will be to the Entertainment board, which right now is the most logical place to discuss the music industry, and let's see how many music related threads we have sitting on the front page alone...
Now, while we're on this trip, I must insist that everyone buddy up...and no one fall behind!
Entertainment Forum, Page 1... 1 whole music post!
Nickleback rips off own song (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=117343)
Moving on to page 2... everyone, PLEASE stay with your buddy!
NO music posts!
Next Stop: Page 3... and please, watch out for rampant newbies... 1 more music post, bringing our grand total so far to 2 over 3 pages!

Next we will visit scenic page 4... Tim! Stay with your buddy! 2 more posts, doubling us up to 4 posts over 4 pages!
What are your favorite songs? (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=104295)
Favorite Music Band (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=112225)
Last stop for today, Page 5! What wonders lurk in here? ...and 2 more!
This month in music (July) (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=115348)
Is the Weezer Deluxe Edition worth it? (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=116521)
So, did everyone enjoy the trip? As you can see, over 5 pages of entertainment board threads, we have a scant 6 threads relating to music. Now, why on earth would we waste our resources for a forum that doesn't get much discussion?
...if you really want to talk about music, use the entertainment forum. If you still really want a music forum, might I suggest Rolling Stone & Billboard's web sites?

Well if we are going to talk about why there is no music board in the TOONzone forums, we could also start to whine and complain about how there is a Video Game board and a Fun and Games Board. But lets not go into that. It's not like I'm asking for a sports forum, or a live action forum, or a ballet forum. I'm asking for a forum that deals with a intricate part of your TOONs
Here's so pro Music board points:
1. Keeping Music discussions on topic and also keeping them in view of casual browsers: Yes music threads are made in entertainment, and also in anime and some other places as well. But don't even tell me they are anything but tertiary. Many times they are pushed to the second page very quickly, where they are lost. In their own baord, music discussion threads would have a longer shelf life, and a better chance in being participated in. Colin, even you had to go as far as page 5 to find the topics you did.
2. Separation from larger groups for specifics sake: The same way that Adult Swim and Toonami warrented their own boards out side of Cartoon Network, a Music board where discussion of Video Game music, Anime and Cartoon soundtracks, and general entertainment music should be warrented.
3. Keeping other boards on their topic, making moding easier: Without soundtrack discussions in Video Games and Anime, and without CD discussions in Entertainment, those boards mods will have less to oversee, and other topics deemed more important in those boards will stay on the front page longer. Brining in a new mod for this Music discussion board would insure that no current mods would get a larger load, but mods in affected baords will get a lighter load, no matter how small it may be.
...if you really want to talk about music, use the entertainment forum. If you still really want a music forum, might I suggest Rolling Stone & Billboard's web sites? So that is your solution to people viewing your forums that want music discussion? to leave and go to another place? If I were in charge of a forum, I would want people to participate in mine more than others, I would want to meet their needs, especially if they wanted to help. I wouldn't want them leaving to go somewhere else. But hey, I guess sometimes a little work avoidance is more important than meeting the needs and wants of a community, huh?

You didn't read what you quoted. Colin said if you want a forum specific for music then find one, or you could just continue to post about music in the entertainment board. Personally, I don't think there's enough music discussion to warrent a whole forum and happen to like the "This Month in Music..." thread which should hopefully become a trend.

Speaking on behalf of the Entertainment Board, we have no problem with music posts. We don't get many as Colin said.
Again, I personally see no need for a seperate forum.
As for the argument with Video Games, Video Games by it's very core deals with animation on all levels, so it has a link with toons. I think that was a logical step. Music is not animation, it's sound. It also is represented by The Entertainment Board.
Adult Swim and the ilk are website forums hosted by Toon Zone, they do not belong to Toon Zone per se and again, are animation anyway.
If you have music questions or threads go to The Entertainment Board. It has good traffic, lots of subjects, why thin it's traffic out into an unneeded board? It's all bandwidth, and as neither you or I actually pay for this free message board, I would leave the need for a music forum with those who do. I'm sure they appreciate the input, but I think everyone is pretty happy with music's representation here. Toon Zone is animation, in fact The Entertainment Board is technically World's Finest, which is a hosted site, so even less reason for Toon Zone to have cave to a music board - aside from the obvious reason; they don't want one.

It's not like I'm asking for a sports forum, or a live action forum, or a ballet forum.oooh.. A forum where we could talk about Alexander Gudanov?! I'd be there in a SECOND!!
But to be serious (not that I'm not serious about Alexander Gudanov, goodness knows), the Entertainment board is currently an appropriate place for dicussing all things musical. I'd like to see it get more music-related traffic, but so far, it's one topic that doesn't seem to own many threads. And those threads that do occur don't always solicit much in the way of responses. (I'd rather not think about the time I was all excited about the current Beastie Boys album finally coming out, and not one person shared my enthusiasm... or, they just didn't care to respond.)
As for the argument with Video Games, Video Games by it's very core deals with animation on all levels, so it has a link with toons. Thankfully. Not that there isn't a trend towards mo-cap, but that's a slow trend... and the day UbiSoft stops hand-animating Sam Fischer, is the day I have a very slow, painful breakdown. But as you said, for now and a long time into the future, it's animation, bay-bee.
Now, while we're on this trip, I must insist that everyone buddy up...and no one fall behind!::stands crying in the middle of a WWE thread:: My buddy wandered off to check out some Buffy the Vampire post, and I am SO lost!!!

This is so not a debate. The answer to a music forum: "NO". Its official. While music is a very big part of everyone's life, its far from what we're trying to do here. Yes, we have an entertainment forum that came as a package deal when Toon Zone aquired "World's Finest" website.
As for the video games board, with much of the animation happening in video games, as well as the drawn out storylines, the video games today are becoming an interactive animated art form. Epics like Final Fantasy, Kingdom of Hearts, and such are full-fledge stories in animation. There are also the plotless fighting and shooting games too...but that's a part of the greater whole, which does have a place here.
As for music, we can't allow it, unless it has some tie to animation. If you wanted to do cartoon/anime music (ala Toon Radio (http://www.toonradio.net)) then that's something to consider, but Toon Zone isn't the place to talk about your Top 40/Indie Rock/Rap stuff. If someone is willing to write up a good animated music forum proposal, I'll be sure to let the eyes of the "powers that be" have a look at it.

Of course I want it to include cartoon and anime music. Music is a huge, huge part of any animated show/movie. It's half the reason that I enjoyed series like Cowboy Bebop, Noir, Hellsing and Niea_7, not to mention countless more. You say it's alright to talk about storyless fighters and shooters in video games because it's part of a greater whole? well then why wouldn't talking about artists in a forum mainly aimed at Video Game and Cartoon music be ?also considered part of the greater whole. I fail to see a difference.
You want a proposal? Go read my second post, it points out how I think a music baord is needed and how it would help. If you need someone to run it, I'm there. If there's other questions you want answered, ask them. If it's an issue of money, then I guess there is nothing I can do, if it's an issue of the work, I'm asking you to give the load to me. Just tell me how.

Still puzzled. Music is no more relevant than Voice Acting in animation. It's important, but doesn't deserve it's own board. Again, it would just full under the catagory as part of the cartoon so it would fit in it's respective forum. The tie to animation is far more tenuous than video games which are animation.
I know what the answer will be to your question, I'm just trying to give you reasons so you can appreciate why no one is as keen on the idea as yourself. :)
