For all of our members who love silent slapstick comedy and silent cartoons, get ready to save your money cause in August and September some great classic films will be making their way to dvd for the very first time.

Kino International has announced the upcoming release of three new dvd collections of silent short comedy films.The Slapstick Symposium series will include the two disc "Stan Laurel Collection (1923-1925), the single disc, "Charley Chase Collection (1924-1926)" and the two disc "Harold Lloyd Collection (1918-1922)".This execellent dvd collection will hit the streets on August 3rd, 2004.Each collection will sell at $39.99

As I posted last month, that The National Film Presveration announced the upcoming release of the second of it's collection for films preserved by the American Film Archives, "More Treasures From American Film Archives (1894-1931)".The three disc collection focuses more on the silent rea of cinema than the first volume and also includes a few earlly sounds films.Net proceeds from the collection will help archivists preserve other films on a danger of decay.The set will be available on Sept. 7th, 2004.
