Still no Bosko or Buddy. Also, I assume the MGM cartoon was shown in B&W instead of sepiatoned. We'll have to talk to Mr. GAK about why the MGM B&W cartoons aren't being shown in sepiatoned prints.

Also, no Popeye cartoon was shown. So maybe next weekend.

We need another night of rare cartoons on LNB&W just like we had that one night with cartoons like WAKE UP THE GYPSY IN ME, THREE'S A CROWD, and SHUFFLE OFF TO BUFFALO. Would it also kill CN to show Bosko or Buddy?

It wouldn't kill them, but it would inconvenience them since they have none of those cartoons. They really need to nag WB for some Bosko or Buddy cartoons.

So you're saying you want to see sepiatoned?

I thought originals were better.

The B&W MGM cartoons were released in sepiatone. Sort of a way to fool the audience into thinking it's color. Personally, I like the B&W prints, they have a nice sharpness to them (then again, I've never seen good sepiatone, so I'd probably change my mind if they did it right).

Sepiatone is how the B&W MGM cartoons were originally released.

If I'm not mistaken, aren't CN and WB both owned by the Evil One, Ted Turner?

Nope. Time Warner and Turner Entertainment merged in 1996. Then, WB and AOL merged in 2000, to become AOL Time Warner. From what I've read, Ted Turner himself has very little to do with the company these days.

It has nothing to do with PC. I am willing to bet that CN intentionally remasters the cartoons without showing the AAP opening (since the company has not been in existence for a very long time) or closing. In fact, notice that on some of the cartoons that the opening is slowed down to allow for the entire opening soundtrack to catch up. The colorized versions edit out the AAP openings as well. Then again, if CN ever gets around to showing the all new "I'm Popeye" series, you will finally get to see the real Paramount openings...as long as the ghosts of Cecil B. DeMille don't object.

Yes, they edit B&W cartoons, but haphazardly. They edit out a brief blackface gag in one cartoon, but leave in a much more offensive one in another.

Nope, at best he shows up at a few public functions, obviously the board meetings as he is still a vice-chairman, but forget about any connection to the companies that might still bear his name. The main part of Turner was broken up into CNN, headed ah believe by Walter Isaacson, and the entertainment companies, skippered as many of you know by Jamie Kellner.
