View Full Version : Jetix "The Entire Block" Talkback

While not talking about actual show content (Digimon covered in various Digimon talkbacks of long ago in Anime, Power Rangers on Entertainment, Gargoyles in it's own talkbacks...), I figure this could be the revived Talkback for Jetix.
Well, this weekend, we'll get to see the ultimate fight for superiority- Who will win the hearts of the fans all over again? Who will convert people into a Gargoyle or a Ranger?
Countdown to the Destruction of The Gathering: Which is the better two-part, cameo-filled, continuity kickin' fight?
Also, did Digimon revert to Season 2 or something? I saw the Season 4/Series Finalé on Saturday (well, halfway... I really wanted to see what happened to my favorite Digidestined, Zoe), and thought I saw the old school "Di-di-digimon, digimon, di-di-di-..."
Um... is anyone actually looking forward to Super Hyper Monkey Ultra Sentai Gran Sazer Team Force Thunder Mystic Big Cartoonie Show Go? How about the Jetix cup?

I'm looking forward to Super Hyper Monkey Force Go!, but that's it.
Thanks to Jetix, I've become a fan of both Gargoyles and Power Rangers.
Super Monkey..whatever looks like a halfway decent show, I think.
Anyone besides me notice that the Jetix Cards Live isn't showing up as much?

This is going to be very disappointing, but I just got an e-mail and they are not going to show Countdown to Destruction. Instead, they are showing two PRNS episodes. This is the new schedule for July 25:
11:00AM - PNS-1101 - Prelude to a Storm
11:30AM - PNS-1120 - I Love Lothor
Now I've got to go change my schedule.
The Super Monkey Force show looks like "Monkey" (from Dexter's Laboratory) combined with Power Rangers, sans giant robots.
I turned off Jetix Sunday after PRDT, but I did notice that 02 T.K. was narrating instead of Melissa Fahn. Too bad they're starting with the crappy 02...

I'm also looking forward to" Super Hyper Monkey Force Go!", it looks interesting, isn't it the first new Disney cartoon created for the Jetix block? I think theres gonna be a presentation of this show this Sunday at the Comic Con here at San Diego.

Curse you, J-J-J-Jetix!
Tease me with a Countdown airing, get my hopes up that Willie C. will be swayed to the side, so that one day I will say to him, "Let the power protect you, always..."

You do realize he could always get the "Best of Power Rangers" DVD, which costs less than $15 online, right?

Right now, the Jetix block isn't doing too bad, what with Power Rangers, Digimon, Spider-Man, Gargoyles... only show I don't watch is Beyblade.
I'll give the monkeys a few episodes before making my final decision, but right now, it looks kinda pathetic. Dragon Boosters, another Fall '04 entry, sounds kinda cool. But my attention is directed at February '05, when W.i.t.c.h. hits the block.

... man, I want an offiicial announcement those PR box sets.
My opinions on the block (so far)...
-I'm glad Disney has gotten the message and tried better to exploit that multi-billion library they got from Fox and Saban. Spider-Man is now on Toon Disney, even though I think it's because of the capitalization of Spider-Man 2. Now, add X-Men and other properties, and I might get digital cable.
-Jetix site got revamped. Now, add more content.
-SRMTHFG! sounds weird and interesting. I'll watch the first ep before I pass judgement.
-Now, can we get VR Troopers on the air?

I'm looking forward to Super Hyper Monkey Force Go!, but that's it.i didn't think the animation on this show seemed all that good, so i thought it would be a little children only show. is that true?

Why is Jetix pimping soccer? In the great United States, soccer isn't exactly a sport that people identify with, yet it seems like every commercial break is filled with soccer stars and the kids who play it.

Well, before the Jetix namechange, Fox Kids was a channel known around the world; every year they would have a "Fox Kids Cup"; I guess Disney wants to continue the tradition.
Quick question. Is this World Cup going to be a bunch of interstitials like the "Made-in-Japan" thing, or is it going to replace Power Rangers for a week?

It will have an encore presentation on 8/1 at 11am ET/PT

Well, soccer has always been a Power Rangers staple (Used to be football, but that kinda got replaced), and MLS needs to major good publicity after screwing up Freddy Adu's rookie season.

Yeah, Conner's a soccer star, Carlos and Justin played it...
But I'd rather it be football... ya know, an actual American sport.

But I'd rather it be football... ya know, an actual American sport. The thing is that the Cuo is worldwide between 16 Countries. And in 15 out of those 16 countries, soccer is a very popular sport. Also this cup has been around for about 5 years. This year it took place in Disneyland Paris. Next year it's scheduled to take place in Orlando.

Just wondering...
Does anyone know the Gargoyles and Power Rangers Power Picks airing this weekend (and times?). What does the Jetix Cup interrupt?
On Saturday, Gargoyles airs at 11:30am. The episode airing is "Vendettas".
On Sunday, Power Rangers Power Picks airs at 11:30am. "Quantum Secrets," from Power Rangers Time Force, is the episode airing. The JETIX Kids Cup pre-empts the 11:00am PRPP showing on Sunday.

Ah, cool. I honestly can't remember when Gargoyles or X-Men airs, and I never hear what Power Picks are on.
Will, Time Force is on Sunday. Pretty good series, probably as dark as PR ever got (Starts with a death, has a continuiing plotline about revenge, wraps up with destiny and the nature of evil). Give it a shot. Also, apparently the MOTW was voiced by Lightspeed Red.

The voting options for the Aug. 8 PRPP are now up on Jetix's site. The category is "Best Battle":
-- The fight to save the Earth from the Alliance of Evil in "Countdown to Destruction" -- the finale of Power Rangers in Space
-- The fight between the Time Force Megazord and the Quantasaurus Rex in "Clash for Control" from Power Rangers Time Force
-- The concluding fight of the Wild Force Rangers and their 100 Wild Zords against Master Org in "The End of the Power Rangers" -- the finale of Power Rangers Wild Force
-- The concluding fight of the Wind Rangers against Lothor in "The Storm Before the Calm" -- the finale of Power Rangers Ninja Storm, and because there seems to be a requirement to have a NS choice in every poll.
The voting is very early, but PRiS has more than 90%

Fox Kids Latin America has now changed its channels and website to Jetix, completing another part of the transition. You can visit the site at http://www.jetixtv.com (http://www.jetixtv.com/) but none of it is in English. It has a good NS site though, better than the one ABC Kids had up during the run of PRNS on it.
I voted for the Time Force episode since I have CtD on DVD as well as the NS finale on DVD, and I don't care as much about WF.
Plus, I missed TF on Sunday due to Otakon, so I still haven't seen an episode!
Also, wasn't there supposed to be a new DinoThunder? I missed Saturday, and recorded Sundays, but Sunday's was Episode 3!

Sunday's Power Rangers episodes, both BoPR and PRDT, were soccer themed episodes, in conjunction with the JETIX Kids Cup. Saturday's PRDT episode, "A Ranger Exclusive," will be airing on Toon Disney on Saturday, August 7, at 7:30pm. It will also air on ABC Family at 8:00am on August 10.
ABC Family has announced the results for this week's Power Rangers Power Picks vote. The episodes airing this Sunday on ABC Family are from Power Rangers in Space:

11:30am - PRS- 7027- Countdown to Destruction, Part 2

Simple backstory for "In Space"-
See those Turbo Rangers currently on (Ashley, Cassie, TJ, Carlos)? Power Chamber blew up, TurboZords were gone, Dimitria, Blue Senturion, and Phantom Ranger are all away trying to help Zordon, who's home planet of Eltare (And where he was during Turbo) has fallen to the United Alliance of Evil, the league of bad guys from seasons past (Rita, Zedd, Machine Empire, Divatox) headed by Dark Spectre and run by Astronema.
Taking a NASADA spaceship, they flew into space (in a rather futile attempt to save Zordon), met up with Andros, the Red Space Ranger. Getting space powers, they fought Astronema... who turned out to be Andros' sister-turned-evil, Karone. They saved her, but she was forcibly brought back to the side of evil. They also brought Zhane, the Silver Ranger, out of cryogenic storage, which he had been in since a near-fatal blast from a monster (oddly enough, it was a repainted Big Bad Bettleborg character).
The United Alliance of Evil is about to launch the greatest attack... not on Earth, not on Eltare, or Aquitar, or KO-35... the entire universe.

Earlier today I watched last Sunday's Power Rangers Time Force episode. One thing that quickly struck me was just how much newer PRDT looks, even though Time Force is from just a few years ago. In one sense Time Force looked like there was a deeper plot going on, although I think I would need to see more episodes to actually grasp it.
When I first heard about Power Rangers going to 3 main rangers, I didn't like the idea, it wasn't what I was used to. However, having now seen a lot of Dino Thunder, I think I like it. Having just three main rangers from the beginning, and then adding more later on, allows for a better focus on the individual characters. I know who Yellow, Red and Blue are. However, in this Time Force episode, except for Quantum and Pink, the other rangers could have been anybody.

One thing that quickly struck me was just how much newer PRDT looks, even though Time Force is from just a few years ago.I can't remember for sure, but I believe midway through Gaoranger (Wild Force), the sentais began using better film, somewhat blurring the line between morphed footage. Mighta been halfway through Timeranger, but there is a notable video shift.

What did you think of the actual episode?
However, in this Time Force episode, except for Quantum and Pink, the other rangers could have been anybody.Really, the only core Rangers from Time Force were Wes, Eric, and Jen (an' Alex, I guess). The others were just an Xybrian, a race car driver, and a genetically-altered super-strength girl who's best plot was going back to colonial California.
Don't like many Rangers? Yeah, some have problems with that, but... wait until Power Rangers SPD. Five core (Red, Yellow, Blue, Pink, Green) and multiple extra Rangers...

Well... it's a gamble, but...
Will, gotta record Sunday's Power Pick. I'm gonna try not to get you to record every one... but... it's scheduled to be Countdown to Destruction. It started the week with 90+% of the votes, but ended with slightly less than Ninja Storm... so... it's a gamble, but it better be Countdown.

It is kind of odd how the numbers changed so fast. Earlier on Thurs morning it was C2D in the lead by a big margin. Then about six hours later I went online and decided to check and there was the Storm before the Calm ahead.
I do wish they wouldn't put NS or DT eps in these polls since they get shown several times a week. Since we are going to lost BoPR come Fall there are a lot of eps of the older stuff that would be nice to see. Some I didn't get to see back when they were first run anyway.
Would anyone else like to see BoPR continue instead of an hour of PRDT come Fall?

What did you think of the actual episode?
It was pretty good. Decent characterization for the main guy and I liked the plot. Rather than just the good guys vs. the bad guys, there seems to be multiple forces at work which is nice. Plus, the monster actually did something useful instead of just running around and attacking things.
------------------------
Unless they change their mind at the last minute, C2D is what is schedule to air. They seem to decide based on how the vote is going mid week. (They have to cut it off some time, they can't change the tape right before the show starts. Thus, late surges don't do much.)

Ninja Storm's not on several times a week...It is on Toon Disney. Six times, to be precise.
But ABC Cable says that Fam has 87 million subscribers, with Toon Dis at just 46.6 million. And, most of the cable companies that offer ToonDis do so on its digital service.

Essentially, it's even "Best Of Power Rangers" at this point, just a few hundred episodes from actually airing as part of it.

Point taken Knux. Ninja Storm is on Toon Disney's Jetix and not on ABC Family's Jetix. And by the subscriber numbers posted earlier not as many people get Toon Disney as do ABC Family. And ABC Family is the one doing the Power Picks. So I stand corrected. I guess I was biased by the fact that except for a few episodes I'm not too fond of Ninja Storm.
Current poll is the Best Bad Rangers.

Not the first time I've heard Ninja Storm referred to as a parody season.
Someone said it was the kind of parody that Turbo should have been but wasn't even close to being.
It had some strengths. The last two episodes were pretty decent in fact. I'm not against humor in Sentai or PR but IMO Ninja Storm went too far with bad humor. Shame since Hurricanger was good, from what little I saw and it had a lot of promise.
And I was happy with the Power Picks choice since I hadn't seen the first episode of C2D when it first aired. I only saw the second part. Really great ending. And the scene where the Rangers reveal themselves was really good.

When it was first announced, Jetix was presented as a coordinated childrens' programming endeavor over both channels. So, what's on Toon Disney is, in some way, tied into and a part of what's on ABC Family.
ABC Family has announced the PRPP voting results for this week.
The episodes airing on ABC Family on August 15 are:
11:00am - PRM - 2045 - Return of the Green Ranger, Part 2
11:30am - PRM - 2046 - Return of the Green Ranger, Part 3

Ah, Return of the Green Ranger. Some of the weirdest production ever in the franchise (Well, they were filming this while filming the movie in Australia, used costumes that weren't good enough for the movie, combined Zyuranger and Dairanger mecha battles...)
You know, I don't remember much about the Green Ranger vs. White Ranger 3-parter. Or most of Season 3 for that matter...
Chad Bonin
08-11-2004, 12:28 AM
Green VS White was Season 2. I keep on forgetting that fact myself, until I remember it's Dragonzord VS Tigerzord, not Dragonzord VS Falconzord.

I know. I reread the episodes on TVTome a few months ago. But after "Ninja Quest" I somehow either managed to miss episodes or completely forgot about them (I completely forgot about the Metallic Rangers, for instance).
Chad Bonin
08-11-2004, 01:09 AM
You completely forgot about the Metallic Armor... because it was used, like, a grand total of six times.
Want to see a REALLY obscure episode? Track down "The Sound of Dischordia". It's got...
Katherine as the Pink Ninja Ranger (Only for a dozen episodes)
Only use of the Shogun Ultrazord (American Made), complete with errneous model with Dragonzord chunks.
Last episode before "Rangers in Reverse"/Last episode of MMPR that ends with teenage Rangers/Fourth to last episode of MMPR, if you consider Mighty Morphin' Alien Rangers a different series.
Rare use of the Metallic Armor.
Last appearance of Ninjor.
When I say I don't remember them, I REALLY don't. I read the descriptions, and was like "I kinda remember Vile, and the Shogun Ultrazord" but I COMPLETELY forgot about the Metallic Armors. I don't even remember seeing them the first time all those years ago...weird.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I always think of "The Wedding" as sort of the start of Season 3. I know it's not; it's "A Friend in Need" and then "Ninja Quest". But I always think of Season 1 with Rita, Season 2 with Zedd, and Season 3 with Zedd and Rita.
Chad Bonin
08-12-2004, 10:01 AM
Yeah, especially since "The Wedding" and "Return of the Green Ranger" were filmed in Australia, likewise with the movie that featured Ninja Zords... it just kinda gets mixed up.
