I read a review about this in the newspaper today. I had never heard of it really. It seems like an interesting animated film. Anyone has background on it??

I'm pretty sure I saw a trailer for that movie and it does'nt look like anything you probably would want to watch. It's about the lives of three or four people living in New York. The movie is animated in a weird way to where eveything looks trippy. I know that sounds cool but it looks like the most boring story and I think it's even a romance(puke)! Anyway, that's just my opinion. Who knows, maybe it's decent but I would'nt bet on it.

i saw it a few weeks ago. i didnt get around to posting a review though, but if its playing anywhere near you, THEN SEE IT!! its really really good, a great animated movie to say the least. but its only playing in ONE thearter that i know of here in nyc, the united artist's on 13th (for those in nyc, although it may not be playing there anymore, i saw it like 2 weeks ago, but the theater was packed, so its probably still there, plus i heard its playing somewhere in mid town too).

its animated using rotoscoping, which means it was shot completely on digital video and colored over on the computer, w/ added effects and stuff. theres a great little making of thing on the waking life website, i dont have the address, but just type waking life in somewhere and you should be able to find it.

its too much to get into, basically you have to see it. the animation is great, its almost like a painting. anyone know of the painter alex katz? well the colors and shadows in the film reminded me of his paintings and also even reminded me alittle of btas/tnba in the way it dealt w/ shadows and light. its a very artsy film, from the maker of dazed and confussed.

anyway, its all about, w/out giving too much away, a guy whos not sure if hes in a dream or in real life. its completely surreal and aside from the beautiful visuals and animation, is basically a very dialogue oriented film. its made up of very exestentialist (sp??) conversations between the main character an various other people. its the kind of movie that really makes you think, even long after youve left the theater, and they talk about very deep stuff. plus alot of what they say about dreams will mess with your head.

so, i give it an A. if you are lucky enough to have it playing by you, definately check it out. peace.

Dang. Yet another great flick being released in the big city that I won't get to see for a while. Plus I'm missing Jeunet's new film Amelie. Pout.
