Nahh.....if it had been right out of a cartoon, Luis Gonzales would have used a tree trunk for a bat, hit one out of the park and then Bugs would have jumped in the taxi and ....
.... wait a minute, Game 7 was in Phoenix, not New York, so that ruins the chance for the Umpire State Building and Statue of Liberty gags. Forget about it....
Seriously, even as a Yankee fan, and ex-team employee (OK, maybe not an important employee -- I was a non-union usher for a couple of summers) I would have liked to have seen them win, but you can't bat .183 and average two runs per game and not say the other team didn't deserve it more this time.
Anyway, from the cold reality point of view, had the Yanks held on, there would have been a lot more sentamentality about keeping some players on, even though their hitting has declined over the last two years, so in the long run, this may be better for the team, since they won't be as hesitant to make changes during the offseason. Of course, the pitching staff is getting older and older (though the same can be said about Shilling and Johnson for the D-backs).

Wellllll from a cartoony viewpoint the ball could have caromed off of our various mountains in a pinball kind-of-gag. And coming from the "Bank One Ballpark" the ball would have forced the (former) Valley National Bank building to veer out of its path... And Gov. Jane Hull would have HAPPILY subbed for the statue.:D
Just a shame President Bush couldn't have made it here for the big climax, (Rudy Giuliani did).

Was so happy when the Diamondbacks beat the hated Yankees, and since I live in the NYC area(for you see, I'm a Mets fan)it was excellent to see the all of the stuck up Yankee Fans shut their mouths up.....

I fully agree, but would the Diamondbacks' management really have been thrilled with five or six hours' worth of "double-secret probation" security checks for everyone before the game? Doubtful.
Oh, and IMHO, this crop of Yankees had absolutely nothing to be ashamed of, having held onto this Series until literally the last minute! No offense intended to Mets fans. Really.

Management would have been just delighted at such prospect...;) ;) ;) (cough, cough).
We'll just have to content ourselves with believing that President Bush was on board the B-2 Steath that flew overhead...:) :) :) :D
(Strange... that was THE ONLY plane in the sky for a long while).

For those who live in the NYC area, then you'll know this famous line by Yankee Broadcaster John Sterling...
