No joy in the Big Apple tonight (sports-wise)?

Looks like there's no joy (sports-wise) in the Big Apple tonight, after tonight's World Series victor for the Diamondbacks...despite not being a big sports fan, figured the Yanks would've wrapped it up in five games (if not a clean sweep) against some expansion team I've barely heard of...but oh, well. Kind of interesting to see the underdog upset the favored team (though I guess the New York-based media were probably all geared up to promote the Yanks' all-but-presumed victory/"Yanks deserved to win since they represent the greatest city on earth" sort of thing for all it was worth...).

Who thanks to growing up near Chicago still sort of associates the song "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" with the line "root, root root for the Cubbies" (vs. the generic "home team" refrain)...

Which reminds me that a four year old expansion team has won the World Series, in contrast to the team I've long rooted for hasn't done that in over 90 years.

To be honest? As a born and bred Bronx girl and a Yankees fan I can say that I'm not that upset. I saw my guys up there fumbling around worse than any minor league team during game 6.

Besides my qualms about the Diamondbacks manager's ability to well, manage, they most certainly did earn it. There's no upset of the dynasty here as some people might say. The Yankees could've pulled it off, but I went into this knowing AZ had the better team. I was just hoping against hope that we might be able to pull another one off.

Ah well. At least it was a good series!

Yeah, for now. However, the Diamondbacks will be in the AL next season and they can repeat with the guys that they have. Being a NY fan, I don't want to see that happen though.
