View Full Version : Vote for Best of Power Rangers!

Starting today, you can go to Jetix.tv and participate in a poll, and based on which series wins, two episodes of that season will be shown next Sunday on ABC Family Jetix at 11AM.

The current question is: Who is your favorite MMPR Villian?

The choices (w/ the results after I voted):

Rita Repulsa (Mighty Morphin'): 45%
Astronema (In Space): 22%
Trakeena (Lightspeed Rescue): 8%
Ransik (Time Force): 10%
Lothor (Ninja Storm): 15%

I voted for Ransik, since I have yet to see one episode of Time Force. Obviously, nostalgia wins out, even though Zedd was by far a better bad guy than Rita ever was. They'll probably show the Green Candle 2-parter.

If Ransik wins, I bet we get Force From The Future, complete with Aquitian cameo.

Anyway, definitely unfortunate Zedd isn't there.. I liked him more than Rita back in the day.

I also agree Lord Zedd is the far better Power Ranger main villian then Rita. Astorinma was pretty good villian as well in my opinion. I haven't watch Power Ranger since the ending of Space. I did watch almost all of Time Force which I did enjoy. You can say I watch the show once in a awhile.

Astronoma was the greatest hands down. She went the full run of being evil, then turning good, then turning into the Queen of Evil, almost destroying Earth and then went on to become a Pink Power Ranger.

I would wish that Ransik would win tho, just so we could see Reinforcements From the Future again.

Nah, I think that most of the people voting are more familiar with the newer seasons, thus even though NS is still airing regularly, it will win. I hate it, but it is so. So much for giving people the right to choose :p.

no wonder I didn't remember her for Lightspeed rescue (minus her appearing in the obligatory "team-up" episode) but you know the wierd thing about LG? they had a villain named Scorpius that was just a malformed lump of latex and shortly after they killed him off or thereabouts guess what villain they introduced on Farscape? Zedd destroyed 3 sets of zords (well, the dinos weren't really destroyed, but if they didn't upgrade, they would not have beaten him), the command center, the power coins. Oh, and he destroyed that planet the rangers got the sword from using Serpenterra.

Astronema would be my second pick because she was pure evil when she wasn't Karone. Plus she had cool hair colors.

Well obviously it looks like the votes are leaning towards the shows that are run more consistently on Jetix..

If Duke is right about more polls, that will be good, cuz hopefully Zedd will get on there..

I still wouldn't mind some Astronema eps though.

-Turbo Megazord
-Quantasaurus Rex
-Predazord
-ThunderStorm Megazord

As predicted, the NS Megazord is currently leading with over 75% of the vote. I voted for the Time Force Megazord so I can, ya know, actually see Time Force for once. Strange no Mighty Morphin' Zords were chosen, though, especially since the Turbo Megazord SUCKS.

Bah!
WildForce was great in the team ups and last fifteen eps, but overall it sucked when they tried to do any stand alones.
Ninja Storm might not have the great multi-parters but they at least had some supurb stand alones like Double Edged Blake abd All About Beevil.
And Wild Force`s acting wasn`t anything to cheer about, Max was one of the worst actors of all the incarnations!

Sure Lothor was kinda lame, but he was suppossed to be a big silly dope...Master Org was supposed serious yet he could barely pull off one line of dialog without fudging it up real nice.

I liked the PsychoRangers from In Space.

But I don't remember an Evil White Ranger in the Original MMPR or is my memory just failing me? I'd vote for the original Bad Green Ranger/Tommy from MMPR season one.

I certainly don't remember an Evil White Ranger. The whole POINT of the White Tiger coin was so that Tommy WOULDN'T become evil again.

For that matter, I'm curious as to this "Evil Red Ranger" in Zeo. I don't remember any evil Rangers in Zeo...ever. Unless they mean those episodes where Tommy can't control the Red Battlezord.

Gah, there were two better evil ranger episodes in MMPR. Both of them involved evil cloned versions of the rangers. The one with Commander Crayfish has aired at least twice before, but the first one has never been on Best of, which irritates me. The one that they have up now for MMPR, it was the Green Ranger which was evil. Yet another typo leads me to believe that the people behind the Jetix site are just throwing up random things to fit a rough sketch from a faulty memory.

My vote goes for the Pyscho Rangers. Especially since the MMPR choice was one of the worst episodes ever.

Oh cool, I voted for Kat because she is the best female ranger.

The Kim scene is from the episode with the Painter from Season 3 where her mom is going to move to Paris with the artist.

The Kat scene is her first appearance when she was in the demon cat form.

Not sure what episode teh Astronema scene is from, but it has her and Andros fighting each other. It is probably close to the episode when she returned as Karone for a short time.

Dana's scene has the Titanium Ranger attacking her saying it is nice to finally meet her.

Power Rangers Power Picks airs each Sunday from 11:00am - 12:00pm. There are only two slots available. Return of the Green Ranger was one of the voting choices, and it won. They had to pick two episodes from the three-part miniseries.

Why they made a three-part miniseries one of the choices, that's anyone's guess. But this sure isn't the first time they only showed part of a multi-parter.

11:30AM - PRS- 7011- Astronema Thinks Twice

Next week's poll is for best team-up.

PRiS: Space Rangers and Ninja Turtles - Save Our Ship & Shell Shocked
PRLR: Lost Galaxy and Lightspeed - Trakeena's Revenge (1 & 2)
PRWF: Time Force and Wild Force - Reinforcements from the Future (1 & 2)
PRZ: Zeo and Alien Rangers - Rangers of Two Worlds (1 & 2)

At the time of writting this, PRZ is leading with 36%, PRWF has a close lead with 34%, PRiS is behind with 26%, and PRLR is losing with only 5%.

My thoughts:

- We missed a chance to see an episode not aired since 1996!

- We get best team-ups, but To The Tenth Power & The Power of Pink are missing.

- Two of my personal favorites, True Blue to the Rescue & Forever Red, aren't there because they're only one part long.

- Trakeena's Revenge is up for vote again! Why???

Countdown to Destruction had edits? I'm curious now.

And why would people want to see that Ninja Turtles ep with the PR again? NT TNM only had 4 good episodes, the 3 parter with the vampire lady, and the return of Oroko Saggi (the one with his medallion).

ANyway, I'm sick of seeing PRiS on the Power Picks. How about some episodes that have never been aired more than twice? Well, at least it isn't NS.

I really want them to fix the 9/11 knee-jerk edits. Unfourtanatley, I read on another board, ABC/FOX edited the master tapes of the show, so unless someone can dig up edit free tapes, the stupid, sloppy edits are permenant.
This is the post I'm talking about. My DVD has tons of buildings being blasted by ships, so I doubt it's edited.

I'm pretty glad PRiS is doing so well. I've always considered it the best PR series (although that's not necessarily saying that much) and I don't have any episodes on tape.

The results for August 29th are in:

11:00AM - PRZ - 4027 - Rangers of Two Worlds, Part 1
11:30AM - PRZ - 4028 - Rangers of Two Worlds, Part 2

And while we were waiting for the results, another poll went up and has apparently already finished. Here are the results for September 5th according to a semi-reliable source (rangerboard). If anyone that gets official updates from ABC Family could confirm that voting for the 5th is in fact closed, please let us know.

8:30AM - PRG - 9018 - Facing the Past, Part 1
9:00AM - PNS - 1126A - Shane's Karma, Part 1
9:30AM - PNS - 1127B - Shane's Karma, Part 2
10:00AM - PRF - 1132 - Beware the Knight
10:30AM - PRW - 1223 - The Wings of Animaria
11:00AM - PRS - 7022 - Mission to Secret City

The next vote should be for September 19th due to the Marvel pre-emption on the 12th.

I liked White Light, but the Gold Ranger one was so much better.

Anyway, right now WhiteLight is winning with 43%, followed by GoldRanger with 16%, then the ****ing NS ep with 15%, followed by a 13% of WF, and 12% of LSR.

"White Light" was one of the classic episodes, not only in Mighty Morphin, but throughout the entire franchise. If these episodes win (which they should), it'll be a well-deserved victory.

(Note: I especially loved Kim's reaction to the revelation of the MMPR White Ranger. :D)

"White Light" would have been much more shocking if I didn't know beforehand...

The revelations of the Gold Ranger were much more well done. Is it Billy? Nope, they bring back a plot point from 40 or so episodes ago!

Here are the full list of options:

MMPR - The White Ranger - White Light (1 & 2)
PRZ - Gold Ranger
PRLR - Ryan's Family Secret
PRWF - Zen-Aku's Journey
PRNS - Hunter and Blake

I don't know what the voting is now (I'm connecting at 32K, so flash is not an option), but last night Zeo was in the lead with 32% and MMPR had a close second with about 25%. I think Zeo would be a good choice, but I wouldn't mind seeing White Light again. Since I do have the DVD with White Light on, I voted for PRZ.

Update: PRNS is winning by default again. It has 84%!

Dogbert
09-14-2004, 05:29 PM
OK, now this is very strange. According to Rangerboard, which is semi-reiable, PRNS had 14% at 5:38 AM today, but had 85% at 7:08 AM. Anyone think the voting may be rigged? This seem to support that theory. Why would all the PRNS kids vote this morning? If kids were going to vote, wouldn't it be over the weekend when they have time and when the ads air the most? Why would they all just suddenly vote on a Tuesday morning?

White ranger- 5%

Perhaps it doesn't constantly update and instead it just updates every so often. Plus, if they were going to rig the poll then why even have a poll?It does update often; we can see small changes if we watch closely every few hours. Even if that was the case, it is update more than just once a day, so the PRNS jump is too big to be explained by that.

Why have a poll if they don't let the people choose? Simple, regardless of if the viewers get to choose, they still think they do and will watch to see which one won. The bigger question is why PRNS would be ABC's pick. I think they may have to pay less to show it. Remeber, even though ABC owns the rights to the show, they still have to pay the actors, the directors, and the musicians for every airing. Since PRNS was filmed oversees, they may have gotten actors to settle for less. The only question about this is if it is a big enough difference for them to rig the polls.

William C. Maune
09-15-2004, 11:57 AM
Residual payments aren't usually all that much in the first place. Even if the NZ actors do get less, I can't see it being enough to make a difference.

The easy explanation regarding why NinjaStorm is in the lead is because it is the newest series (other than PRDT) and thus the one that kids are most familar with. Most of PR's ratings comes from kids, not older fans, and kids are the ones mostly posting in the poll.

If they really wanted to rig the poll they'd likely be smart about it. It doesn't make any sense to suddenly mess with the voting on a Tuesday. If they really wanted to rig it there are probably computer programs they could use to make it look a lot more natural.

Even if the poll does update fairly regularly, their could have been a glitch overnight that kept it from updating properly or something. Or perhaps since the poll was still new, there weren't previously many votes and thus it didn't take many NinjaStorm fans voting to considerably shift the poll. When a poll is new it doesn't take much to considerably shift the results.

Finally, if kids realize that their choices aren't winning, eventually they'll stop tuning in. I don't see any benefit to rigging the vote.

...
Finally, if kids realize that their choices aren't winning, eventually they'll stop tuning in. I don't see any benefit to rigging the vote.In other words (mine) if the mass voting efforts by Rangerboard and other adult PR fans works, kids will believe their picks aren't winning and won't tune in. So, it's entirely possible that ABC wants PRNS to win because it will get the most viewers.

And what does ABC care if it looks sloppy; the kids that watch PR get their favorite, so they won't notice.

I doubt ABC would go to all this trouble to rig this voting, but I believe it is possible.

Zedd
09-16-2004, 01:37 AM
The vote is not rigged. Who knows how many or how few people may be voting at a time? You really can't go by how frequently it updates. You might be jamming in votes for one, while someone else is for another, etc. But there's no reason for them to rig the votes. Then they would just have BoPR.

Here are the voting results for September 19:

11:00am Power Rangers Ninja Storm - "Thunder Strangers, Part 2" - PNS-1106B

That MUST win. "Rangers in Reverse" sorely needs to air. It was the end of the Mighty Morphin' era...The odd's are that they would have aired the 2 parter from season 2 where they became kids because they only have space for 2 episodes.

Please note This Sunday - October 3rd Power Rangers Power Picks "Most Sinister Spell" (Voted by the fans) is the Island of Self Doubt from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The episodes airing this weekend are:

In other words, since ABC Family never aired the episode, it's not in ABC Family's readily available programming library, so they had to get it from the main Disney Vault, but some lazy ass person didn't want to drive it over to ABC Family right away. So it will remain in the vault collecting dust right next to "The Lost Episode", "A Friend in Need", "Doomsday", and the entire VR Troopers and Beetleborgs episode library.

so um....do you guys think there's a good chance of Power Rangers season one on DVD maybe =DNot anytime soon. I forsee Disney releasing more and more current season DVD until they run out of ABC Family episodes. Once that happens, they'll start going back to older stuff. Disney could do it three ways as far as I can see:

1) Release random best ofs in true disney style.
2) Go with season sets, but don't do MMPR because of the number of episodes involved. They would most likely start with LG, LR, TF, or WF because they are self-contained.
3) Just start releasing them in seasons sets like they should.

I think it could be a long time before we get seasons sets for the older shows, but I think it will happen some time. Unlike what most people believe, emailing Disney might help. I did, and if enough of us do, they might consider releasing season sets.

Chad Bonin
09-30-2004, 10:33 AM
It depends on if those Jetix/Fox Kids UK box sets do well... and if they come out...

The sets showed "Dungeons and Dragons: The Complete Series", and something I swear looked like "Jesus in Space". They could be great looking mock-ups, they could be real, but any Saban box sets leads toward PR sets.

And they'd either start with the current series (for kids) or MMPR S1 (for those with disposable income).
