Here's something interesting I found http://www.deviantart.com/view/5586437/ Looks real

That is fantastic. And I must say it's a nice cast. But I think the Jigen in the corner looks considerably fake and so does Fujiko. But you gotta love the Jason Lee face right there. He'd probably make a good Lupin.

Bruce Campbell? I was thinking Will Ferrel, personally.

hugh Jackman I could see as Jigen but Lupin would have to be Jim Carrey, the guy's got both the build, face and just plain goofy spastic movement so characteristic of Lupin himself, I bet he'd probably be able to pull off the "diving out the neck of his shirt at Fujiko in bed and getting nailed by a giant boxing glove" gag from the opening sequence

Wow.. That's a really awesome poster.. I never pictured Jason Lee as Lupin, but he looks decent enough..

I think a live-action Lupin would be an interesting movie.

I gatta admit the idea of Bruce Campbell as Zenigata makes me laugh just thinking about it. Though he's been very typecast for a while, I dunno if he could pull off his attitude well enough. Jackman would make a good Jigen, never heard of Donni Yen, maybe I should have. Only two I can't paticuarly place their is Monica Belluchi and Jason Lee. But that's just me, anyway this thread is for the poster, not a fanmade cast.

Looks even more conveincing than the bebop poster, I'd like to know how they make these things.

While I personally think Johnny Depp would make a better Lupin, (That, and the fact that I HATE Jim Carrey) Jason Lee would be interesting.

Lupin: "Just great! Stupid kid is on the escalator again!"

Horray, I'm not the only person around here who thinks Jim Carrey would ruin Lupin.Actually, Jim Carrey is a very good actor, though you would not be able to tell from the more crazier characters that he has played, but go rent the 'Truman Show' to see how good he can act in a dramatic role.

Personally, I think Lupin would be the wrong role, I think if you have him play it straight and let him grow out some side-burns, he would make an excellent Jigen.

All we know is that Steven Speilberg (who's a big Lupin fan) wants to direct it. No idea who's writing it, who's starring in it, or if the movie even has a distributor.

There will be no Lupin movie, who would want to make a movie about a show that bombed.

3 TV Series

Nearly 2 Dozen Movies

And 20 year long manga series

If that is bombed, then why is fan outcry so strong to show it on CN...

I've seen the Truman show. It's an okay, but you're right about him being able to act serious.

I'm only going to say this one more time:

Yes there is going to be a Lupin live action movie. It's official. However it will be for the French audience and is about his grandfather, Arsene' Lupin. NO LIVE ACTION LUPIN III FOR THE US. Don't expect it to see a DVD hit the shores of the US for a long, long time.

So you're resorting to calling me a Lupin-hater since you can't come up with anymore condescending remarks. Well, not everyone's going to take your egotistical **** lying down. Now listen... I don't hate Lupin. In fact I'm a big fan of the franchise. I own all of the '71 series, some of the '77 series, Mamo, Cagliostro, Fuma Clan, and all of the current OVA's released by FUNi. You can hardly call me a hater. I was simply saying that the fanbase in America is small otherwise the second series would be renewed and it's DVD sales would be a lot better.

If you still have a problem with me, take it to someone who... Oh, wait... Anyway, I wouldn't pursue this any further. Your liable yourself for posting flame bait. You seem to be in the habit of it too.

Genius Nin, genuis.

Topic? I second Ferrel as Zenigatta, because he's got the art of comedic yelling down, something Zeni must have.

Killtacular
07-18-2004, 10:23 AM
Will Ferrel doesn't have the art of anything. He has no timing or delivery. He is the worst comedic actor ever. Kick him out of Hollywood and keep him away from this movie, please. As well as every movie he's ever been in. Which would require a time machine but there's no rush.

Eddie G.
07-18-2004, 10:57 AM
Eh, Ferrel ain't that bad, he does sort of look the part and may be able to pull it off. But despite having a few good imitations (Bush) he generally just plays Will Ferell in a crazy situation. So while I think if he works at it he could actually fit the bill for at least three of the Lupin characters, most likely he would just do some dumb lowering of his voice that sounds idiotic.

Jim Carrey from a visual stand point would be good for a Lupin movie, he has the look to play Zenigata or Lupin and his rubber face would work well when adapting character who animated tend to be over the top and a little elastic.

Oh and I know I'll be beaten with a stick for this. But how about Hugh Jackman? The guy has on multiple occasions played characters very different than himself (this is actually called acting), and I could really see him do some good work with Zenigata, Lupin, or Jigen

Matt Lowe
07-18-2004, 11:07 AM
I just dont think Ferrel can pull it off in a live action movie...Carey on the other hand could adjust seeing the movies in the past hes been in werent all just comedy.

Nin-Nin69
07-18-2004, 12:36 PM
What if Carey (http://www.adsrve.com/linkredirect.php?h=502,29115506,toonzone.net,1) played both Lupin and Pops. Via Austin Powers. Wouldn't that be strange.

PaQ
07-18-2004, 04:59 PM
As long as he wasn't playing Fujiko too..

I think she would be perhaps the harder to cast for.. I can't really think of any woman off the top of my head that could play her..

Matt Lowe
07-18-2004, 05:37 PM
Some kind of women in lots of action packed movies I would think...Maybe um..GOD I HAVE TO THINK>>Maybe Cameron Diaz just you know with black hair (Mainly cause of Charlies Angels) or umm .... Whats her name?? Bruce Willis's wife...or ex or something.

I could see Beat Takeshi pulling off Zenigata, but Hollywood would want someone who's more familar to the American mainstream.

Fujiko would work best being played by a sexy European actress, as I wouldn't picture her as being Asian.

I posted about the new French Lupin (not III, original) movie on this board a long time back, and so here is the French Lupin (http://www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0306734/Ss/0306734/133-27a.jpg?path=pgallery&path_key=Duris,%20Romain) Romain Duris. Notice how he's already wearing the Red Jacket?

But yes there is a live action movie that might be made. They are trying to get it made, but most movies never make it to production. But the possiblity is there. You don't have to be a Lupin III fan to enjoy the movie so arguing about the size of the fanbase or vocality is really just a glorified pissing match.

Why is this topic so aggressive. =(Because Wilson and Beatdigga both posted in it too close to each other. Oil and water. The posts don't even need to be related, proximity alone does it.

While I think Farrell is funny, his movies don't appeal to me - but I DO dream of a Will Farrel/Jack Black team up. That said, I thought it was a pretty weak attack on both their parts, myself. I probably would have responded with something about monotone soliloquies.

It wasn't THAT original, witty and cool...lets put it this way, Landstander has a doctrine in sarcasm, he was initialy telling you to not diss Mr. Wilson. Even though Matt may have strong opinons and views on certain things no one here really hates him for it, yes the occasionaly heated discussion will break out, but at the end of the day we're all sitting under the potato tree sipping Long Island iced teas...

point is this, take his opinons(just live everyone else's) with a grain of salt...

and don't diss anyone else's artistic talent, that's sorta hitting below the belt...

Eh, I can see it, kinda, though I think she should be played by a European or American actress. Not only to get natural brown hair (do Japanese people have anything but black hair?), but because it'd be easier to create Fujiko's gigantic...assets.
