Have you calculated how much your comic costs are every month? I just did a layout and realized how much I've been spending month-to-month, and that's not even including toys, statues, various collectibles, or trial issues... and wow it's a lot. Do all of you look at your wallets and say "OUCH" when you realize how much you spend? I sure do. So how much do you spend per month?

I usually spend $5-20 in comics, if I had the money and I see something I like.

Anywhere from $50 - $80 dollars... but with the increasing number of interesting titkes coming out I speculate in the fall it will be $70 - $100.

Per month? That's a scarey thought. To be honest, I can't remember the last time I had a weekly bill that was less than $50, so I'm spending at least $200 a month on the little suckers. I could probably have paid off my car and student loans by now if I wasn't such a comic addict.

Well this month I'll be spending about $40 on single issues. If you weigh in trades it'll probably come out to $60-$80, but there are months where I don't buy trades, so it really depends on the situation.

I usually spend a little under $20 per week, so about $70.

I'm feeling kind of left out here, as I only spend £4.80 a month (don't ask me what that is in dollars). Unless I decide to buy some graphic novels/trade paperbacks... then it's anybodies guess :p

If we count new releases and back issues I probably do close to $500 a month.

My average montly total at my local shop is close to or over $1,000. That includes DC Direct, Marvel Legends, Minimates, Toy, Statues, Books, TPB's.........YIKES

I spend way too much considering I have 2 car payments and 2 mortgages to pay for, not to mention day to day living.

I can't stop though, I love my Superman and Batman comics, toys, and DVDS. :D

Wow. Got a lot of dedicated comic lovers here, but of course. ;)

Hmm, I just got back in to collecting, I'd say I spend about $60-80 a month, on weeklys, not counting TPB's or back issues.

Comics are always tough on the budget..

Not that much, I can tell you that I've spent over two hundred dollars on comics over the last year and a half at Midtown because they remind me how much I've spent there everytime I buy something. A month? From twenty-thirty bucks... usually.

Currently, I spend about 100 dollars on new releases, give or take a few dollars. I haven't been buying many trades lately, so that doesn't add too much to my overall bill.

Well, I'll usually buy anywhere from two to eight titles per week... that's about $10-30... so, in one month, I'd average about $50 to $100. I don't buy as many now as I did when I had a job, though. My highest bill so far was something in the $60 range - but that included a Kingdom Come figure.

Good Lord...you guys and gals that spend well over 100 dollars a month on comics: How do you find time to read them all?!?!

Me, I've actually been calculating this for some time...it's somewhere between $60 and $85 dollars a month, (depending on how many new titles I pick up, and how many I drop...)

I try not to spend more than 20 dollars on comics per week lately. So, that usually amounts to about 60-80 dollars a month. Things have been kind of tight lately, so I really can only afford to take out about 40 dollars from my paycheck from week to week. 20 for comics, 20 to fill my gas tank. All other necessities I can mooch off my parents for the time being.

It's tough to figure. I'd say around $100 on average. I rarely spend more than $15 per week on new issues(sometimes less), but I splurge pretty often on back issues, trades and manga. I recently dropped at least $200 at a con, and the day before yesterday I spent $30. Even so I still manage to be cheap and buy a lot of dollar box stuff.

As for reading them all, I don't. I can keep up pretty well with the new comics, but I buy so many back issues I just don't have the time. It's a sickness, I tell you.:)

Damn, some of you guys fork out a hell of alot of green on comics! :p During my collecting peak I spent maybe 60-80 bucks monthly. Now, it's more like 3 bucks cause the only title I'm collecting at the moment is Ultimate Spider-Man. This isn't including trades or anything. I'm gonna get back up as soon as I get more cash, start collecting Ultimate X-Men again, and Daredevil and the 3 main Bat-books.

$15-20 on monthly comics. $40-60 additional if there aren't any DVDs out.

Midtown Comics rules! ;)

I've reached $100 3 times so far. Yeah free $20 in books!

Well, I have a system. Ok, maybe not a system, but a usual routine anyway. I generally get between 10 and 20 books a week. I'll read as many as I can in bed before I fall asleep on Wednesday night - that's usually 3-5 issues. I do the same again on Thursday night, so that's a total of 6-10 issues. Then I usually read the rest while laying around in bed on Saturday morning - its sort of taken the place of watching Saturday morning cartoons like I used to do as a kid.

Howdy,

Suddenly I don't feel as bad to admit that I average about $80-130 a month on comics :). The dollar amount is a bit skewed, though, since a lot of that is indies or trades, which tend to be more expensive (although not as much as they used to be). If I added in eBay and incidentals, that may add another $40 or so.

As for reading time, I end up with a big stack o' comics about once a month (mail order, donchaknow). The single-issues usually get read all in one night over TV, video games, and sometimes the wife and dog (tho' she's usually reading stuff with me; the dog just looks neglected :)). The TPBs are great commuter reading unless it's something too big and heavy to carry.

Uhhhhnnnn...
Depending on the month, and factoring in things like hardcover trades and artbooks...
Anywhere between $75 and $250.
And that's not even counting my annual trip to the San Diego Comic-Con.
I spend almost all of my disposable income on comics. Sometimes I even have to skip meals to afford everything I want.
Go ahead and laugh.

Comics taking the place of Sat. Morning cartoons? Huh, I never thought about doing something like that...but yeah, that sounds like fun! (since I of course don't watch Sat. cartoons anymore)... :D

Me, I usually read one a night, and since I don't usually buy more than 7 or 8 comics a week, it usually spreads itself out well throughout the week...or if I miss a night or two, then I splurge on the weekends, reading 2 or 3 or 4 in a row...

Of course, I don't buy near the insane amount some of you guys do...

Yeah, I'm not even entirely sure how I got into that habit. I think it was just that I couldn't get them all read during the week, and I'm usually very anxious to read the latest chapters in my favorite stories. So I'd just get up on Saturday morning and dig right into them. And now it very much is like when I was a kid watching cartoons - I'm excited to get up on Saturday morning, have my bowl of Froot Loops, and get swept up in some superhero story. Defintiely a fun way to start off the weekend. :D
