The only real exciting news is finally getting definite information on the start of Foster's Home For Imiginary Films (August 14th). That's because the others are pretty much obvious (CN showing new eps for the new eps already have). So I guess you're scan will include new Grim and Mandy eps and Duck Dodgers (which I hope will start in August. Come on CN, you've pushed it back far enough, don't you think?).

Hmm interesting to see that Fosters is coming in August, didn't think it would be airing so soon.

Too bad about Duck Dodgers.. It can't be a good sign when it's gotten basically postponed into limbo..

New PPG and JB is always good.. Well.. hopefully so. And .. CN really loves to show that Iron Giant movie, they've really killed anything I liked about that show with all it's airings..

Those numbers are off, since the previous marathon went from 16 - 21. It should be 22 - 26 and then ?. It definitely isn't the finale though since Super Link is 52 episodes.

My guess: CN only picked up 26 episodes and the last episode in the marathon is a rerun.

Maybe they are waiting for the creative team to finish the third season so that instead of one season with 13 episodes we get 2 seasons of 26 episodes.

Just for that one week. For some reason, they're going to skip ahead a few episodes to "Charizard's Burning Ambitions," and then they'll use the morning timeslot of the following week to premiere the episodes that they skipped over for the evening run. I really don't know WHY they're doing this (maybe because they're trying to prevent the morning run from getting too far ahead of the evening run?), but it is a bit annoying for fans who haven't seen these particular episodes before.

And looks as lame as it sounds.

Also, why did CN give this show a 90-minute premiere? Do they think that lightning will strike twice? That Foster's will do for Craig McCracken what Jack did for Genndy?

Only time will tell, I guess...

CN never announced that they had aquired .Hack//Legend of the Twilight either, but they are airing it. Superlink has already aired 30 episodes in Japan. I'm thinking they picked up the rest of the series since it is Transformers Energon: The Powerlink Battles and it ties directly in with what will happen on Transformers Cybertron. Without the Powerlink Battles there would be a lot of unanswered questions , but we'll have to wait and see that day I suppose.

So I guess Duck Dodgers is another failure along with Energon and Zoids Fuzors.

Isn't it a little too early to jump to that conclusion? I can't see them suddenly now, just before season two starts, declaring it a failure when they have already ordered seasons two and three.

it seems like CN will buy 4 seasons of any of their shows no matter what these days  how else is Hi Hi Puff Ami Yumi already with a second season in developement? and Megas? TT got 4 from the start to... CN doesn't wait for success or failure which I guess is good in Dodgers case :( I don't think I'll watch the marathon because if this is just another 13 episode season I don't want to blow through a half the episodes in one day :(

And I hope that Bob after he is on another of his breaks gives us the details of how these new episdes are, if that he can know how to use the Spoiler tag so that others who have not seen it can attempt to read it at thier own risk, but I just hope these new episodes are going to be as good as the new Ed, Edd, n Eddys.

MEGAS didn't get a second season ordered until the first 6 episodes had aired and the ratings were good. Teen Titans didn't get a season 3 or 4 ordered until season 1 had finished. They may order 2 seasons from the get go, but not 4. I also don't think CN is saying any show is a failure by airing it on the Saturday Block Party. If they air premieres on a Saturday afternoon at a reasonable time, they they'll get people to watch (much like what's happening with Toonami and AS). Of course you also have to look at the fact that CN has so many shows now that are succedding, that they don't want to rotate them out, meaning the only times they could premeire would be Saturday afternoon. When does Duck Dodgers currently air? I believe the answer is it is the final show on Friday's and maybe Sunday night, but I'm not sure about that second one. Heck, they didn't even pick up a second season of Duck Dodgers until the first one was nearly done, and they did that because the ratings were so high, so they defintley wouldn't be classifying this show as a failure, and I don't think they are classifying anything they premeire on the Saturday Block Party as failures since some of them are their highest rated shows (outside of Adult Swim).

now I had a thought! couldn't they show AS shows during the block party? they have a lot of shows rotated out alot of the time so they could just throw in that all ages ad during every break and show like best of WHR, Trigun, Big O, and other stuff maybe even all of Kikaider 2 saturdays in a row since its only 12 episodes without the ova :)

Summer dumping makes the conclusions for us.

Cartoon Network doesn't have "summer dumping." The network programs year round and summer is an especially big time for the network because kids are out of school. It wouldn't make sense for the network to suddenly now, after Season One finished airing many months ago and a second and third season were in production, dump the show.

Obviously you have to live with a committment, but it doesn't mean you have to respect the show. This is the same thing that Cartoon Network has done to Sheep in the Big City, which they would have cancelled after 13 episodes... if they didn't have a 26 episode committment, in which case they simply dumped all the episodes with no promotion. In my opinion, it looks like Duck Dodgers is in the same boat, and I guarantee its promotion will be near inexistant. :/

William C. Maune
08-02-2004, 12:59 AM
It could end up being similar to Sheep, but in this case the network has already ordered 13 more episodes beyond the 26 that Sheep got, and I assume those 13 were ordered after Season 1 aired.
