Much as during the previous conventions this year, because of Manga's recent sale to IDT Inc., there are no announcements to be made regarding any new licenses.

However, the production of the Dead Leaves (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=2021) OVA is now complete, and it premiered on the Sunday night of the convention. Dead Leaves (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=2021) was offered for broadcast to MTV, but was deemed too violent. However, it will be shown on the National Lampoon Network, at dates and times to be specified in the future.
..........what the **** is the National Lampoon Network?

..........what the **** is the National Lampoon Network?
Well, I seem to remember some sort of, like, hour thing that would pre-empt the TV Guide Channel Sunday nights at midnight titled that.

..........what the **** is the National Lampoon Network? From googling, it seems like it's a series of channels that are for colleges, to provide entertainment.. Something like that.

Never heard of it before.

Here we go:

National Lampoon, the company which created the National Lampoon magazine and National Lampoon's Animal House, has acquired the assets of Burly Bear Network, an on-campus college television network.

National Lampoon Networks (http://www.nationallampoonnetworks.com/) currently serves over 600 colleges and Universities throughout the United States, including major institutions of higher learning both in and out of the ACC, Big 12, Big East, Pac 10, Ivy League, and SEC. The network currently brings together over 4.5 million students, or nearly one in four of all 18 to 24 year old college students.

Growing everyday, National Lampoon Networks is prepared to be the premiere source in humor for the next generation bringing together a collective student audience.
Aww, darn slow cut & paste!

Oh, now I remember. It's the college network that no one watches.

well given that it's on the college network that noone watches, maybe it can still be picked up for real broadcast (Mtv should have picked it up, CN can't, so maybe it could run on International...)

MTV shouldn't have crap. And why can't CN?

It would end up on Manga's bed buddy Starz Action anyway.

Let's see, an insane amount of violence (albeit comedic violence,) sexual situations (one of the characters has a giant drill in instead of genitalia) and bathroom humor (on screen excriment.) Strikes me as something MTV would be all over, and that CN would find funny and unairable, but oh well.

Starz Action would be a pretty good place for it. More accessible at the least.

Where did I say anything was wrong with it? I'm saying that every Manga title that has aired on TV except for R.O.D. OAV and now Dead Leaves has aired on Starz Action. There maybe one or two left, but otherwise Manga Ent is pretty much in bed with Starz.

If you'd want it on MTV I don't think it would go to MTV1 as they're too busy with their new shows about celebrities and their homes or whatever that crap is. MTV2 seems to be the home for anime in the MTV Networks family. And comedy violence is acceptable anywhere now over horrific or serious violence. That mascot thing in Clone High was tearing animals' heads off and squirting their internal organs into its mouth, and Carl on ATHF got sucked into a toilet and shredded up and spit back out through a fan. I would've thought CN would at least try to get it since they seem to have bonars for Production I.G.

Well I figure by MTV, it'd be MTV2. I think the violence bit was bs (atleast from what I've seen of Dead Leaves, which isn't much, but the gunplay is so over the top it makes Kill Bill look serious.) It was probably people pooping on screen, the sexual content and a man with giant drill genitals that probably kept it off MTV2. Personally, I thought the title would be really cool for CN too, but unlike the R.O.D. OVA, which can air uncut these days, Dead Leaves would either need editing or an MA. It'd do well though. It's an anime for the Sealab demographic in one sense.

wow, all that in one movie, but I bet there are far worse movies in term of content, and of course CN can air it, that is all editted up. :p
